A few other questions: Is Barranquilla full of busted dudes with hot girls, like Mixx described in Manizales, Pereira, etc. Or are the girls and guys more evenly matched? How was the competition from the colombiano men there?

The guys are no competition....well 95% of them. I spent 2 weeks in Barranquilla with some local guys and you just have to do the opposite from what they are doing. At the beginning you just do some casual nice guy talk to build some trust....you already have the 'exotic' looks. Some betaness during conversation doesn't hurt in Colombia, because they are already used to be treated like shit all their life by guys.

Nice report, which internet sites did you use?

Also it sounds like the girls of Barranquilla are WAY MORE FRIENDLY than girls in Medellin. Some of your situations were like nothing I'd experienced or heard about in Medellin.

I guess that leads to the question... is Medellin done?

Yes, I thought the same, I live in Medellin now, and I am 6 feet, blonde, with blue eyes and I never experienced anything like that. Maybe they got used to foreigners so much.

Of course. That is one of the nice things about living in Barranquilla. Cartagena is a quick bus ride one direction, and santa marta and parque tayrona are a quick bus ride the other direction.

DATA SHEET: 3 months in Barranquilla, Colombia

I've been living in Barranquilla for about a year now and I'm getting ready to take off to Saigon; 20Nation's original datasheet from two years ago is still operative, so I'm just going to add to it.

When to go: December through March is the best time, because the temperature and humidity drop and the breeze kicks up. Even in these cooler months, it's still hot as hell, so the hours before 5:00 when the sun starts to go down should be mostly spent indoors or at the beach. I think the absolute best time to visit is in the days/weeks before carnival, usually in February, when everyone is partying but the crowds haven't arrived yet.

Most people get to Barranquilla by taking a 90-minute bus from Cartagena along a well-maintained coastal highway. The vans just outside of international arrival will take you puerta-a-puerta to Quilla for 30mil/$15. Bus lines like Berlinastur are only 17 mil but don't operate door-to-door. Quilla itself is a generally flat, sprawling city, it reminds me of a smaller Lima with similar but generally hotter girls.

Where to stay: The north side, calle 72 or higher is best. The higher the calle, the higher the carerra, the better in Barranquilla. One nice thing about the city is that there really aren't any bad pockets mixed in with the good like in Bogota or Cali; the entire north side of the city is pretty safe, although Quilla is so physically big that it's not a great walking city. If you are more of a daygamer like me, the Dann Carlton is directly across the street from Buenavista Mall, which is really two upscale malls connected by a skybridge, lots of girls working in the stores and two supermarkets. If you want easier night game logistics, either the Hotel Barranquilla Plaza, which is located next to Parque Washington, or Hotel Windsor on calle 84 will do. Parque Washington and Calle 84 (called Ochentaiquatro)are the two zonas rosas in Quilla, so there's usually some action at night. I don't know about the guest policies of the last two hotels; Dann Carlton requires guest registration but is otherwise cool with guests. There are a handful of Airbnb listings on the north side as well.

The women: Compared to girls in the interior of Colombia, Barranquilleras are a little skinnier (but still very curvy) and not as pretty facially, although by no means are they completely busted like Ecuadorians. Cartagena was a slave trading port and many women there seem to have more Africanized features, but I don't see that as much in Quilla. These girls are mostly Caribbean mestizas, the mixed blood being primarily Mediterranean/Middle Eastern. Not as many head-turners as Medellin but there are some serious beauties, too. Shakira and Sofia Vergara are both from Barranquilla, for example. Edgar Renteria too, for you lurkers that swing that way. The girls range the whole shade spectrum from white to dark, and tend to have great bodies and not wear very much. There are no blue eyes and little natural blonde hair here, so if you have that you will get eyefucked almost daily.

The food: Better than the rest of Colombia, generally. Fresh seafood is abundant and the Middle Eastern influence has helped, too. Hygiene is excellent in Colombia, but you can't drink the local water so that can be an issue. There are tons of Arabic restaurants in Quilla and they seem to be all good and around 20 mil/$10 per entree. There's one called Medio Oriente on calle 85 where you can get a massive rack of ribs for 35mil. Not much good pizza here (Colombians use no pizza sauce), although Salvatore on calle 84 is pretty good. TGIFriday's is the only American chain I've seen besides the usual fast food McD/Burger King/KFC/Subway at the malls. Popsy has the best ice cream, also in the malls.

Approaching: Coastal Colombia is the most open culture perhaps in the world. Do not expect them to approach you, but you should have zero approach anxiety here, because no one here acts like a stranger. Many Costenos don't even use the formal third-person declension, even with people they don't know. If you speak Spanish, just use direct game, make eye contact then walk up and start talking and then gauge her response and body language. The girls here are not afraid. One decent opener is to ask a girl if she's a Paisa. When she says no, tell her that she looks like the girls from Medellin. There is some regional rivalry so don't push it too far, but it's also complimentary because everyone knows how pretty Medellin girls are. Dance game is big. Vallenato, merengue, champeta, salsa, all of it, although I'm speaking thoretically here because I'm tall and generally look like a newborn giraffe taking its first steps when I dance. But if you can speak Spanish and dance, this is your town.
Like the rest of Colombia, it's not a ONS culture, but coastal girls are typically pretty easy after the first encounter. For one, they are a horny bunch. In Medellin I felt I was being squeezed sometimes like a walking wallet to be probed for weakness. The girls here don't have that same vibe- they're more about fun and less about money. Don't get me wrong though, these girls are not going to offer to pay for anything. The coast is poorer, so many coastal girls get around that problem by messing around with 3 or 4 guys at a time, but the non player girls are very traditional and will get super-attached after sex.

Night game wasn't as much for me in Quilla with my shitty dancing and the fact that I don't understand Spanish well with reggaeton blasting at 100 watts. The most upscale clubs are Frogg Leggs, Cocoa Beach and Agua Helada, all in the north, and they do have some great talent, but most girls seem wound pretty tightly to their social circles there. The dudes here are usually friendly and don't cockblock, so like everywhere it's great to make friends, just remember that pretty much any Colombian will rip you off if he can. I don't see much difference in quality between the richer and poorer girls, only the richer girls tend to be whiter. There is a cluster of okay-not-great bars with no cover on calle 84 between carreras 54 and 55, I've been lucky there on weekends. There is another cluster of bars/restaurants in Parque Washington carrera 51B between 79 and 80, and a few on calle 93 between carreras 46 and 51B. If you're feeling brave, there is a strip of discos way in the south on carrera 8, called La Ocho. It is policed and reasonably safe, but these are not the rich kids of Quilla, so be careful- coastal Colombian dudes are very good-natured but also very macho, so things can escalate if you let them. You will need to taxi in and out, you cannot set foot off of the main drag, and there may even be some hookers around trying to pickpocket you, but the talent in the discos is quality even by Colombian standards.

Daygame is super-easy here, the best thing to do is troll the malls and if nothing's doing then go to the mall supermarket and talk to the salesgirls in Exito or Jumbo. Or find a beauty school and wait for a class to end; the girls from these schools are obvious in their hygienist uniforms. Because sarcasm is usually lost on Colombianas, I separated a cute one from a pack of beauty/dental/whatever students by asking her if this was a place for exotic massage. She was surprised and laughed and said no so I said are you sure, I'd really like an exotic massage because my upper leg hurts. It's fun to mess with them because they have no idea if you're being an idiot or if it's just a weird Gringo cultural difference. And even if you're just playing around, they love the attention.

If you are using an American credit/debit card, be prepared that your card may work at the ATMs but not at the retailers. If you need to change money, the exchange places are mostly lined up on calle 72, so you can compare the rates.

You really need to speak some Spanish to game well in Barranquilla, but if you don't then take a bus/taxi down to centro and go to the Colombo Americano English center. You can enter without being hassled, and there is a large courtyard and snack bar inside. There are always at least a few chicas milling around before or between classes, and obviously they want to practice their English. There is also an English library next door, which is not so good for gaming but has a/c and obviously lots of English books, I read the Game Of Thrones series there. Also, this area is only three blocks from Portal del Prado mall, the 2nd best spot to daygame behind Buenavista.

The universities are set up mostly in the way north on the way to the beaches. Universdad Atlantico is the only one I really walked around- it's big and open and has no security to get by, unlike Universidad del Norte. Or you can just bum around the traffic circle just out in front of it where all the students take the buses. The college kids here obviously have social circles, but the girls appear to mess around outside of their cliques as much as in them. I highly suggest hooking up with a college girl in Quilla and then going out to her favorite bars; her closest friends might leave you alone but most of her acquaintances will try to get you in their f-rotation.

Barranquilla is a coastal city but set more on a river than the ocean, so the beaches are a little ways out of town like in Charleston. There is an area called Pradomar close to a beach town named Puerto Colombia that has some decent beach areas, only about 15 minutes from Buenavista Mall and the city. Pradomar/Puerto Colombia would be a nice place to stay if you are more of a beach guy- there are some hotels being built along the beach strip, some American guys are building a beach hostel with a rooftop bar near the plaza in Puerto, and there are taxis and buses leaving every 10 minutes for the city. I stayed out there for a little while, and it was pretty easy to convince girls to come to the beach for the day, eat some fish and drink Aguila beer (the coastal favorite), then afterwards you can take them back to the hotel to wash off the sand.
Another 30 minutes past Puerto is a hot springs mud volcano called Totumo, they let you get in it for a while, it's a different experience. San Nicolas is another thing to see I guess, it's the classic old Spanish plaza and beautiful church, located deep in Barranquilla's centro.

Barranquilla is probably a better place to live than to visit, because it's more of a working city with no real tourist attractions. That said, the north side of the city is quite nice by Colombian standards, gringo saturation here is 0% (which means no panhandling) and the girls are not floored by foreigners but they are curious, easy to talk to, and usually DTF pretty quickly. The best thing to do is pipeline for a week or two on Colombian Cupid before you come into town; if you get them over to Skype and have a couple of chats you have a decent chance of first-encounter banging. You can do Barranquilla as a midweek/weekend stopover, but the longer you're here, the better the experience is, at least for as long as you can stand the unrelenting heat and sun. In terms of picking up, I think it rivals Cali as the easiest major city in Colombia. But have a plan before you get here; if you just show up and start walking around the city like a backpacker you will probably hate it.

FUCKING BOMB DATA SHEET! Props and I will give you plus 1 for this. After spending 3 months in Quilla I learned a lot, but this data sheet was still really useful to me. Sounds like you had a blast. I'm actually going to be coming back in a week. If you're still there by then let me know and you can meet Scotian and I for a drink.

I just have one question. You said the water wasn't safe to drink, but when I lived there I heard it 100% was and I drank it for 3 months almost exclusively (i was living on a huge budget) without any problems. Did something change since then?

Overall great data sheet, hope we can meet up before you head to Vietnam, I enjoyed Vietnam and from the sounds of it you have the game to do well there. +1

@KMF: I found internet to be pretty reliable; my speeds were usually around 5Mbps, which is good enough for Skype. I think a 10Mbp plan is available as well through Claro. The electricity goes out randomly on average maybe 3 times a month, but it has always come back on inside of an hour. I work online as well, and it was never really an issue for me. Working online is great here because it keeps you out of the sun and the time zone is lined up with the American East Coast in the winter, and with Central time during daylight savings. One thing I didn't mention if you're considering living here are the floods in the rainy season. Because of the sea-level elevation and general government corruption, sewer drains were never built in Quilla. So during the heavier rainy season (Aug, Sept, Oct), watch your ass and where you park if you have a car/bike. I was in a bar on calle 84 watching Colombia play Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier when heavy rains started, and 20 minutes later parked cars came washing down the street right in front of the bar. It's one of the must fucked things I've ever seen.

@20Nation: Dude, you're like my barranquilla hero- I discovered this forum by finding your datasheet last year when I moved here and was researching stuff to do, it helped me a ton. I'm flying out in a week (April 1st) but by all means let me know if you are getting here before then and I'll buy you and Scotian a few beers, I've really enjoyed reading about y'alls rampages. As for the water, I drank it in Medellin and Manizales without problems, but some people told me not to drink tap water in the coast because the higher temps give the water more bacteria content so I've just always avoided it. I don't think the water quality has gotten worse, so if you've never had any problems with it then I wouldn't worry about it; I'm a little paranoid because I have a microbiologist in the family and he likes to scare the shit out of me.

To the guys that have been to Quilla, are there many girls with fake boobies, like in Medellin/Cali?

Less fake tits on the coast for sure. 5 months is enough to learn a decent amount of Spanish, definitely enough to get you by but I'd recommend doing some classes once you get to Colombia, although I don't think that there's as many options for Spanish language schools in Barranquilla as there are in Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena.

Oh ya, I'll add this, I think Barranquilla is a dump and I wrote about that in my carnaval data sheet from over two years ago, this past February I was there again with 20nation and we met up with Corroncho, those guys really did like it, so I guess it has its pros and cons but damn is it ever an ugly city, especially the south.

I'm planning on setting up a dating profile on ColombianCupid just to see what kind of responses I get and to help me plan my next trip there. From the places I have visited in Colombia so far (Medellin, Cali, Cartagena and Bogota) I was by far most attracted to the paisas of Medellin so I will probably base myself there (in my dating profile).

Any thoughts on the best age to use on my profile? My real age is 33 but girls often think I'm younger so I can kinda get away with 28 as well. I'm just wondering what would get the best response, either someone closer to their age or someone bit older, more stable/settled/more money etc. I'm most interested in the 18-25 y/o segment.

Any thoughts??

No need to change the age on your profile. 30s is prime age in Colombia for young women.

Headed to Barranquilla in a few days.

I banged just as many, if not more, Costenas than Rolas during my 4 weeks in Bogota (at least 5 of 13 were confirmed Costenas). Maybe there's something there.

3 bangs in 5 nights so far in Barranquilla. All childless. Well, technically 4 nights, but I'm about to take an L tonight so I'm pre-emptively calling it five, and writing here.

First was a cute little Triguena girl, and second an adorable 18 year-old. Ate both their asses (first times doing so), because I suddenly decided I needed some experience in that department and I liked them. And raw-dogged the second.

My 3rd was most interesting.

Saturday night, she came over at about 10pm. "Our plan" for a first date was to go out to a disco, but my plan was to zero date bang. I was actually pleasantly surprised with her looks since her photos were somewhat ambiguous. Blurry, and at potentially deceptive angles of just her face. I fear the worst in these types of situations. Oh, and we "discussed" for awhile beforehand since she wanted me to pick her up at her apartment. But after awhile of "discussing" and reminding her I'm an estranjero and thus don't want to go to people's barrios for security-reasons, she relented and took a taxi here.

I pull that card a shit-ton in the Dominican Republic and Colombia. "Soy un estranjero obvio, es peligroso para mi yendo a varios barrios," etc. etc. Which is true, and a great reason/excuse to get chicks to come to you. Almost always the girls I'm talking to live in nice places, but I don't want to go regardless. Better to have home field advantage.

She showed up and was tall, thin, decent-faced.

My hotel charged me for it, which surprised me since I had multiple guests over previously without any hassle. The girl working there at reception (actually very cute, and looks like a white girl) that stopped me to take the girl's ID and charge me was super nice a few nights ago, taking quite a bit of time to draw me addresses and maps for bars and discos. But she suddenly turned into a frigid bitch.

So that was off to a bad start.

After a bunch of drinks, I tried escalating with my date. We're both already kind of drunk, but I got denied repeatedly. She would let me kiss her, but wouldn't even let me slip a hand under her shirt, even to just touch her waist. She would touch my cock briefly with guidance, but pull away quickly.

I decided to freeze her out. I stopped touching her, and just lied there watching TV. I barely acknowledged her trying to talk to me. Wouldn't give her eye contact.

She got the hint and started stressing out. Touching me more, talking more, trying to get me to drink more. Downing more vodka herself.

She eventually just took off all her clothes on her own volition, getting completely naked, trying to get me to acknowledge her. However, she was already starting to get increasingly annoying with the increased intoxication.

I got the bang, but I was starting to get fed up with her shit. Denying me the whole night for awhile, and being drunk and annoying as we got close to the bang.

She said she wanted to be a good friend for me, and that she would return to her apartment so I could sleep well. Of course, I'm like "okay bueno!"

We were getting ready to get her to leave, and she starts changing her tune. She refuses to leave, and we argue--err, discussed--for awhile. She wants me to go to her apartment and drink more with her, and spend the night.

I'm trying to get rid of her, so I agree to at least take her to her apartment.

She then says that she doesn't have anything to drink at her place, so we should bring vodka. I'm like "whatever" and fill a Sprite bottle with the rest of the vodka.

Finally, we go via taxi. It's quite close to her apartment, and her apartment complex is very nice. The whole while she's like (in Spanish) "you're the most handsome [hermoso] Asiatico in the whole world", etc. etc. She wants to drink more from the Sprite/Vodka bottle but I deny her.

We get there, and I try to get her to go up to her apartment without me. She refuses, and we "discussed" more. Meanwhile, the taxi driver is like "..."

I tell him to wait for a bit while I take her to her apartment, and he's a G and agrees.

The hallways and stairs to her apartment are more or less outdoors. We talk as we approach her door, and once we get there I say good night and turn to leave.

She screams "NOO!!!" and pulls my shirt to pull me inside. I don't want to rip my shirt, so she drags me a few meters into her apartment while I figure out what to do.

I roll the Sprite bottle deeper into her apartment like a flash grenade, and take a step further into her apartment to throw her off balance, and do a spin move away.

I make it down her hallway and a flight of stairs before she manages to manifest at her apartment door. I was impressed by how swiftly I was able to move; probably haven't moved that quickly in quite a few years.

I turn around and we make eye contact, and then I sprint down the rest of her stairs and for the taxi. I get in and tell the driver "VAMONOS." He parses the situation and we jet, but then we get to her apartment gates and have to wait while security opens it. In true Latin American style they take forever, meanwhile I'm looking backwards, fearing that she's going to make a run for the taxi.

Fortunately, we go, and I get back to my hotel and my room. She texts me via Whatsapp a bunch of times. I mostly ignore, and then suddenly I get a call from Reception (same girl working as before) via my room phone that I have a girl friend here to see me.

Jesus Christ.

I tell the receptionist to tell her to go home.

She continues texting me via Whatsapp, and calling me. Saying that she wanted to come up and sleep with me, and that she brought clothes to spend the night. I just hoped reception and/or security would hold her off. She sends me about 50 messages between my American number and my Colombian number.

Meanwhile I'm leaving Vancity and Fractal some rambling Whatsapp voice messages, recounting what's happening and asking for new hotel recommendations.

I eventually just put my phone on silent and hope for the best as I try to sleep. It worked out--she eventually left, and then texted me the next day (today) apologizing--that she was drunk and didn't know what got into her.

DATA SHEET: 3 months in Barranquilla, Colombia

Went to the Juan Valdez at the nearby mall to grab an iced coffee, since I was a bit tired and hungover.

Waited a bit in line before getting up to the cashier. The cashier was in the middle of taking my order, but then blurts out with a straight face "y numero de celular?"

Caught off guard, I'm like "por que?" and the cashier goes "para mi companera" and gestures toward one of her colleagues ducking behind the counter. The girls staffed there are all giggling.

They were all like 4-5s, so I just feign like I'm a clueless gringo who doesn't know what's going on.

Wow, just wow... can't a man get an iced coffee without being harassed? [Image: gay.gif]

DATA SHEET: 3 months in Barranquilla, Colombia

I ended with 7 notches (no single moms) in about two weeks and a half combined between Barranquilla (5 notches) and a trip-within-a-trip I took to a smaller city (2).

Quality was quite good, except one explained further down below.

Two of the 5 Barranquilla girls I liked most, I didn't get to see either of the two after initial bang--both of them casual afternoon zero date bangs.

First one was disappointed over how quickly she coughed it up to me, and was ticked that I was going out without her at night and/or seeing other girls. Second said that being with me was like a fantasy and a dream, but that she can't be having casual relationships of this type. Oh well.

In Barranquilla about 3 other girls put up LMR (2 stopped me at making out, the 3rd at fingering/hand job) that I couldn't break despite active efforts. I've gotten pretty good at breaking LMR over the years--this was the most robust LMR I've faced in awhile. Fortunately, those 3 were just ~7s, so I'm not bothered.

Barranquilla had tons of smokeshows out in clubs on Saturday nights, but Fridays and Thursdays were slow. I got a few numbers this way, but day-game in malls kind of sucked--very few 7s+ walking around, much less alone. Right-tail Barranquilla girls are great, but girls in the right-center of the bell-curve are lackluster. I considered prowling universities; however, the thought of walking around outside in the heat kept me away.

Thus, mid-way through in Barranquilla, I was thinking about hitting up Bogota or taking a Barranquilla girl to Cartagena or Santa Marta for a few days, but this model 9 in a smaller city I had been chatting with for awhile begged me to visit her.

So I flew over for a few days and banged her. We were making out within minutes of her coming over to my hotel room on Day 1--then we went out to buy some soda and water for a few minutes, and sealed it upon return. Nothing strokes the ego like having a model look at you and repeatedly say "lindo, lindo, lindo..."

However, in trying to get me to come, I suspect she miscommunicated her class and modeling schedules to me. We spent less time together than I thought we would have, and sometimes she was available at times I thought she wouldn't be and vice versa.

I was irritated over this, and thus went out to day-game a few times while she was away and also fired up Tinder. Got some numbers from some pretty cute girls walking around in malls, but couldn't arrange follow-up dates due to the limited time I was there. My exotic factor was over 9000, so this was working quite well.

Out of spite, I wanted to get another notch in that city, and had a Tinder girl come over at like 1AM the last night I was there. I generally like to keep the quality high, as I by far prefer quality over quantity--but Tinder girl was probably the least attractive girl I've banged in half a decade, like a 5.5-6.0. However, as mentioned, I was feeling spiteful.

It's funny how that works. Going from one of the best of notches to one of the worst of notches.
