I wished you'd posted this a day ago, before I ordered a similar TESL program from a different company. Oh, well. Next time.

I'm a little confused.. how can a tefl course only cost $39?

Normally this stuff is $500 to $1000 isn't it?

after reading a little, it doesn't seem the course is very technical. It's all about motivational techniques and games .. :/

If you were witness to my previous edits, contact me via PM, because I got some really good advice to share on this subject.

That's what I like about it.
It seems to be practical...instead of second language acquisition theories (all that L1, L2 crap).

Motivation techniques and games are important to keep students interested.

I just bought it.
I doubt I'll teach English full time again (it's been years).
However, for this price. It's a nice credential to have if I teach on the side in the future.

MidWest, I sent the company an email; thankfully and so far, I still haven't received a Mailer-Daemon autoreject notice.

Wtf it takes me to a wordpress blog website when i click your link. Did you all just get scammed? Its like the owner sold the domain.

Member Nightwing said he used this program. So he is either a liar or it is only down temporary. Since I recommended a friend this I would like to know whats going on.

I said inquiries by PM only, there's a reason for this, and I have been pretty truthful about it via PM.
If we want to talk about it, how about someone make a private group so we can discuss?
Actually, I think we should render this thread incognito, tbh.
Alche, thanks for associating my username to 'liar' for no reason, after all I did for you too.

I will make an ubiased review later, and by later, I mean a few weeks. UNTIL THEN, PM ME.

This is most likely a scam, Online Tefl cost about 140-150. Usually though you really want to get the 120 - hour in class Tefl course, (I took it a couple years back) Those usually cost around $2,400. Is it worth it? well, it depends on the company you choose, it's good to choose a company that has connections with schools in the country you want to teach in so that they can basically get you a job right out after finishing the course.

it's good to check up on different companies and try to contact their former students to see if they can really get you working after the course. There should be a job board for each company with a lot of current jobs for Tefl holders. If not, choose another company.

There are a LOT of scams with Tefl/Tesol/Celta etc classes, basically if they're offering it to you for "Cheap" it's most likely a scam. There should be a lot of ESL schools in any major city. Contact them and ask them what TEFL/TESOL/CELTA etc course/company they can recommend to you that isn't a scam, do this for many companies and see how good their job board is, then proceed as usual. You REALLY want to get the 120 Hour in-class courses, a lot of schools look down on online courses.

What do you need to hide that you need to keep it private via PM?

Look at all the datasheets, they're not "private via PM".

It seems legit.

I got the same error mentioned above (500 Internal Server Error)...only on a single day.
Never got it since.

Is it as well recognized as a classroom course?
Probably not.

But for the price, it's a nice feather in the cap.

I just finished this course.

A couple of the timed writing assignments were a bit challenging but mostly it was multiple choice and true/false questions.

A lot of it was academic mumbo jumbo but parts of it were interesting and practical.

Overall, worth it...especially for the price.

Anyone else finish it yet?

I finished this same course back in February and cosign everything you said. I'm sure it doesn't carry the same weight as a traditional classroom course, but for how cheap it was I feel like it was a decent investment. I actually learned a good deal of theory behind teaching english as a foreign language, and a lot of the information seemed pretty legit (though I have no experience teaching whatsoever, so I don't know how valid it is in the real world).

Not only that, but I received more than a handful of emails from them about teaching opportunities in various locations, although nothing in quite awhile as I'm assuming most schools have already found teachers for the current school year. Besides, if I do decide to teach abroad at some point, I will probably try to get some classroom time in by volunteering locally. I don't think an online course can truly prepare someone to run a classroom, so having some real life experience would still be ideal. Like you said though, for the price it's still a nice little credential to have even if it isn't viewed as highly as other classroom-based programs.
