Erasing your online past, any tips?

So far there's some progress. One of the blog website I made a profile on yesterday has already shown up on page one of google for my name + city. Quick work and not sure how it managed to get there so fast but there's hope that this will work. I'm currently leaving comments on tons of popular wordpress blogs, signing off the post with my name + city. Should I be leaving links to my new wordpress blog, FB, Twitter, Flickr accounts etc too?

I'll have more time tomorrow so can really go for it and try and get this sorted ASAP.

Yes, give your profiles some linkage.

Also, have you made sure you dont come up under other search terms?

So far so good, I've almost pushed him off the first page in just a few days. Surprised how effective this has been. I come up in two other search terms that I know of, one is very obscure and no ones going to be searching on it. The other needs dealt with too but first things first. Googling just my name which is very common doesn't bring up the bad result.

Thanks again for everyone who gave advice. I'll keep you updated and share anything new I learn.

Sweet. Just keep building links/web 2.0's and he will be pushed far away soon.

Did you give the BH thing a try?

No bface I haven't resorted to that yet but i'll keep it in mind. He's now been pushed to page 2 of google, which was remarkably simple. All it took was a couple hours work but obviously need to push it way further. Will keep on going with what I've been doing.

Web 2.0's?? Excuse my ignorance but what is that?

Websites like wordpress.com, tumblr.com etc

Mostly websites where you can make an account and post content.

Yeah I'm using those, making posts containing the keywords that show up the bad post, tagging with those keywords and linking with other social networking sites. Commenting on some of the webs busiest blogs with the keywords and linking to all my profiles. Seems to be doing the trick.

That is good advice.
Also get tons of twitter, linkedin facebook, pinterest etc links that fill up the first few pages of searches.

Indeed, have done all that. I've pushed the bad result to page 3 quite easily. A bit more work and I hope to get it to at least page 5. I'd be happy enough with that.
