Does anyone know how to get a visa extension for a Colombian citizen in Europe?

Does anyone know any way about getting a Schengen Visa extended for a Colombian citizen, either it be a work visa or something like that but not a student visa because would need proof of a monthly amount of $4k USD/month and I am asking for a friend and would not support them financially. Any help is appreciated.
