What is the "Elderly Opener" ??

I actually got "Elderly opened" by an elderly lady today at the library. It was so weird because she just randomly asked me in front of the water fountain, "Did you go to the lecture?" It was so casual and I felt prompted to keep the convo flowing: "No, I didn't what, was it about?" The lady proceeded to explain in great detail and I just nodded and added in a "okay" and "ah".
I still haven't read "Day Bang" yet but I'm going to now because this one of those key concepts that I've heard Roosh mention frequently on the blog and forum. Basically, I'm starting to see what he means by "elderly". The question I have to ask myself is how to I go from seemingly innocent random initiation of a conversation and carry that over to a close on a consistent basis? Or rather, how do I get this to work for me more often?
