To those here that think that being a better black person will solve race relations over night are extremely wrong.
About 6 weeks ago i explained the whole black and white race relations thing to my main girl. She was raised in Canada and lived in a small town for most of her life until recently.
She didn't realize how complicated things were and said that these issues wont be easy to fix.
As with everything, all this starts in the home at a young age.
If black homes had 2 working parents that weren't involved in crime the chances are they would turn out ok.
If the white homes didn't practice subtle racism in front of their children then things might turn out ok.
I've been able to live my entire life and avoid issues with the police outside of a few car accidents. Yet whenever i go certain place people assume i'm an ex-con or that i deal drugs.
Who do we blame for that perception? The parents of the people who think i'm a criminal? The media (Primarily BET and rap culture overall)? Other black people living in the states thousands of miles away?
One thing for sure is that BET and media like it promote the current black culture and are financially invested in keeping it going for as long as possible.
So hypothetically if you were a white person who never grew up around black people and your only exposure to black culture was through the media, what would you think?
The same could be said for Italians to a certain degree.
How many times have people made the incorrect assumption that all Italians are involved with organized crime?
I think if we were able to change the media's perception of black culture then that would do wonders for race relations.
