Obligatory comment here that there's at least one Harvard study that indicates pirates may well be a net benefit to the shows they pirate: the people who pirate, as a group, would not have bought the show anyway, and they tend to provide valuable word-of-mouth to other people about series that are solid and result in legal sales.
