What were your impressions of Neiva?
Super hot but very friendly people. I went to see the Tatacoa desert but the road was closed. I met a girl and her cousin there and stayed in her little tiny apartment. I always woke up to a simple but nice breakfast every day and we road around on her bike to explore the city. For things to do in Neiva there really isn't much though. I will go back again because I really wanted to see the desert.
In terms of renting a place long term, if you know a local it will help you big time. My American buddy and his latin wife are giving me their 4/2 apartment in a Zone 4 barrio unfurnished for $400/month. Most gringos are paying 1500-2000 for that many rooms.
