Also, what's missing here about the "pity the asian guy" narrative is that a lot of asian guys have really high standards. Sometimes/often unrealistic, but that's the reality. There are many asian girls who do not match up to it, or don't enjoy the pressure to conform to the asian ideal.
by Chinese beauty standards my wife is a dog and she's well aware of it after having more than a couple people tell her about it. Yet when I look at her I see a little 10 walking around. The only thing I can guess is that Chinese eyes are different from western eyes, you must see something I don't. In my wife's 25 years in China she has never had a boyfriend other than myself and said that she was too ugly in school to get picked. I feel her on that level, I was Napolean Dynamite in high school and women treated me like nuclear waste. The fact that my wife thinks I'm handsome both blows me away and makes me really happy. I'd much rather be with a girl that wets her panties thinking about me then some chick I have to lay game on to 'convince her' to look my way. I don't think Asian guys 'get that', they seem to think that our relationships are based on face/money, where neither is really true. An Asian girl gets no face in my marriage and in my case, my wife gets 0 money from marrying me but she's the happiest little girl you'd ever meet.
So there is certainly that in play as well. What Asian men call a dumpster, white men call a buffet. Again I absolutely hate all food in China, I look at white rice and want to puke. My Chinese friends can sit all day and wolf down a dog casserole, chicken feet, pigs ear, cold fish, cold eggs and tomato mash and salty pies with a glass of hot water to wash it down. While that may sound appetizing to you, its absolutely disgusting for me...
Different tastes.
1. Eh, i don't think it's purely asian programming. For one thing, none of my parents ever inculcated any kind of territorial view on asian women. They never talked about it. Ditto with my friends, who were predominantly white when growing up. I've travelled to other places in the world. Anywhere that isn't heavily westernized seems to care a bit more about their women dating out of their race. I'm sure there are exceptions.
2. your taste might be significantly different from the average chinese man's taste, but so is mine. I am an asian american, and the asian american taste is significantly different from the FOB asian's taste. Think import models vs nubile princess dolls. But there is a tendency among all east asians, i think, to value being really skinny.
