A high-potency multi-vitamin-mineral plus 500-2000mg L-tryptophan works 20x better at improving mood. Also 5000IU vitamin D3 or plenty of sun exposure around noon helps too.
But you can test out both approaches - though psychotropics are highly addictive - even more than heroin after some time.
And most psychiatrists are living within the feminine imperative and can't teach you shit how to really relate to women. It may help to get someone to talk to - a psychologists who mainly listens is enough, but only if you know what you are doing and are on the right path.

The problem as I see it is that the OP likely has clinical depression that requires medication.
Seeing a cognitive behavior therapist could also help, to keep him on track to take the baby steps needed to actually attain the long term goals. The goal should not be to get laid once. It should be to become a man that women actually want to spend time with.
He will likely benefit from a personal trainer to get into better shape, if he is indeed a 400 pounder. He might benefit from some of the more drastic boot camp classes offered at yoga studios as well.
