That's a nice approach. I do a similar thing whenever I take a picture of a 7+ girl in a regular setting. I take one and make a face or say something disparaging about the picture before adding, "hmm. Let's try again." You could be specific about your criticisms, like you've suggested, and get a good, balanced effect.
I use a similar approach when kissing, though I'm sure I borrowed it from somewhere. This works every time for me, especially with younger girls.

Usually they are shocked and call you an asshole while smiling or something like that (or: "I can't believe you're criticizing my kissing!") Just go in for another. Like with everything, delivery is key.
