Homies, I'd like to open a discussion on this topic, mostly because I need some advice in this area, though I think it's fruitful otherwise:
I've lived by myself (or with chicks, unfortunately) most of my adult life. Generally speaking, though, I prefer to keep a small, uncluttered, well-appointed bachelor pad with most things setup with an eye toward game and my well-rounded lifestyle. The last time I lived with roommates, I didn't have nearly the game skills, or cool furnishings toward that purpose, that I have today and wouldn't have considered this as a factor.
I'll be relocating to another city (where housing tends to be on the expensive side) in a couple of months, and I'm having to consider both options. On the one hand, I could set up my new place the same as the old pads, but shell out serious coin for the luxury. On the other hand, I have to seriously consider getting a roommate to keep overhead costs lower and allow me to do other things on my "player's budget." Living alone would be do-able, but involve some financial gymnastics and some cuts in other areas.
I know many of you have or have had roommates. How much do they affect or interfere with your game (especially f-closing and escalating at home)? Given the preponderance of dudes with little game, I assume the roommate I would get (a dude I hardly know) would probably not "get it." He may know enough to stay out of my way, but there are no guarantees that he wouldn't somehow cramp my style unwittingly or, worse, on purpose--because he started to get frustrated with all of the tail coming through the turnstile. Things like cooking for a bitch at home (to get her to come over), "innocently" watching TV in the living room, and having them spend the night become things you have to coordinate or risk having interrupted. Sure, we all know first- or second-hand that you can fuck a girl living out of your dad's basement, but it's not necessarily ideal.
Is it worthwhile to make a sacrifice to live alone? Or, do roommates--even when they're dudes that maybe lack game but are decent guys otherwise--enhance your living experience in other ways (including paying half the bills)?
