Ft. Worth ppl are in denial about this, but both people in that city and ones in Dallas are all about "being seen." If you want access to different ethnic foods, fun leisurely activities, etc etc...then you really have to drive around the whole Metroplex. Uptown has great logistics for pulling, but I actually wanted to use my vacation time for worthwhile destinations these past several years so never really lived there. The place is essentially like you mentioned entry level workers with no life direction that can barely afford it not to mention their car lease payments before getting laid off. Not to sound like a jerk, bc I would hate that situation but there is quite a bit of that.

The issue with living in Downtown FW or West 7th though is there's just not enough professional opportunities out there. Sure there are some government or healthcare based employment choices, but a lot of work is really in Euless, Southlake, Irving/Las Colinas, Lewisville, Arlington, Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, etc. What's the pt. of "urban living" if you need to commute 40-45 minutes to work?
They tend to brag about how American Airlines is "headquartered in Ft. Worth," but it's really in the Euless/Mid-Cities area near DFW Airport so a person living in West Ft. Worth would travel 25-30 minutes there without traffic, but with traffic easily 50-60 minutes.

Quality of living out in FW however is technically much higher though as there's a reason why the city is growing so much population wise.

Hahaha, hopefully you didn't make too many drives alone back to Las Colinas. I like to piss off the feminazis, it's hard to avoid them in my case. Some people want to see the world burn. Go to UNT around the 20th, that's when freshman start to move in. Classes start on the 28th. Sneaky Pete's gets real good on the weekends and it's cheap. I've been to Lake Lewisville but only to the public park area. :\n
Sucks about your roommate, good thing you'll have plenty of fun in Brazil. I haven't heard of the decked out to the grocery store thing in my area. It should happen though, girls looking like a "hot mess" ain't my thing.

McFaddens and Azure are the thing going on right now. Have you been to Duke's Roadhouse? That place used to be packing 4 years ago, from Thursday to Sunday, packed. Biker Brothers started to come, something happened and then the brothers opened a place where McFaddens used to be. Now Duke is deserted.

Driving in Dallas is chore, but if you want to experience Dallas, you gotta drive. And fcuk 635! The trains are making everything better but what's the point of everything is spread out. It's hard to be a tourist out here. Raytheon in McKinney AND Garland. ATT in Downtown, Exxon in Irving, Flour in Las Colinas, Lockheed Martin in FTW, Cowboys in Arlington. It's a itch to be a CEO in this town.

There are cases of 5 people sharing a 1-2 bedroom apartment in Uptown because they can't afford the rent. When the recession started there was an Indian girl who walked up to me and asked me for money because she didn't have any...this was in Addison Circle. In West Plano a hot milf was stranded on the road because she couldn't afford gas for her CLK Mercedes. Some of this is just ridiculous, but it's just Dallas.
