Two ways to go about it, you're either selling your own stuff or selling other people's stuff and most people start out with the latter. What do you know about building websites/landing pages? SEO? Adwords/PPC? Once you understand those concepts, find a few products that people actually want to buy and promote them in places where potential buyers would find them.
There are many other complicated concepts that people use to optimize their promotion methods that you can learn later but if you have a handle on the basics of how to market products/services on the web, it will speed up your learning curve. Also, if you have money to put into this venture, that will speed up your return.
FYI, WaFo is the worst place for a beginner, as the whole community is based off of selling crap info products to people just getting started in IM. However, once you know what you're doing, you can occasionally find some good stuff in there.
