Are you sure the smart ones don't just have higher standards? Not trying to be vain, but I consider myself somewhat smart and knowledgable, and my minimum standards are probably too high for my own good. Not ridiculous, but if I am not attracted to a girl at least X amount, I just couldn't be bothered. Since I am not attracted to overweight girls at all, the pool I play in is quite small. Due to my own choices. Though I see them as inherent unchangeable desires, rather than choices.
If you are smart I wouldn't overthink it. Boys and girls are just different. Irrespective of your intelligence it will be hard to find a girl you can really relate to and have intelligent conversations with. Just accept it and have "real" discussions with male friends, and have fun teasing and talking trash to girls. Using the word "game" to explain the mechanisms of attracting girls is perfect. Games are, or should be, fun. In relating to girls, I find it best just to imagine I'm playing a fun game I don't know all the rules to.
I don't know about the "girls don't care about intelligence" assumptions. Psychologists tell us that people in LTR's are simillar to one another in various ways, something called "assortive mating". This includes intelligence. It would be EXTREMELY unlikley that a husband and wife, say, have vastly different IQ's. Unless one has a exceptionally high IQ (155+). So girls, or guys, may well not care about IQ consciously. The girl cares if he's exciting and stable (good luck getting both those) and guys care about whether she is hot and has an agreeable personality (again good luck...). But despite this people paired up are still similar in intelligence.
