I'm betting there was psychiatric medication(s) involved, and likely a broken home and maybe fetal alcohol syndrome in the early years too. But guns are the problem, right?
Is abuse of psychiatric drugs a problem in pro gaming like various steroids, human growth, and endurance drugs are in pro sports?
I know that pro sharp shooters are know to take beta blockers, but I thought those mellowed you out.
Is there a drug that gives you an edge in e-sports? Adderall?
I'd be interested to see where you read that part about pro shooters and those drugs. If they're taking beta blockers, they probably had a heart attack or are managing high blood pressure. Not seeing any competitive advantage to how those drugs operate. And yeah, in some ways I could see how adderall, ritalin and similar drugs could work for some people by intensifying their concentration.
The ones who go off the rails and shoot people are almost always on some kind of SSRI drug (Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor) like Prozac, Paxil, etc., not just a mere stimulant. There's all kinds of sings pointing to this but nobody does shit about it except blame guns.
Except for beta blockers which have been detected at Olympic shooting events, it was a speculative guess on my part. Where there is competition and big money at stake, people will look for any edge.
I probably was influenced by the movie & spin off TV show Limitless and an old stand up bit from the early 90s about "Thinkoids". I can't remember the comedian.
EDIT: Might have been Charles Fleischer, the voice of Roger Rabbit. I remember laughing at the bit.
