A close associate of mine from my Texas days was a Chicano from Brownsville. We went through a war together, literally speaking.
I probably would have to have a really good reason to go there at this period of my life though.

There are about multiple threads on here about Pereira in Colombia, which I assure you is at least as backwards and boring.
I still had a great time there.
