I don't think i could live in HK for as long as I've already lived in SZ. Cantonese, well, I find them impolite, and all the folks walking around on their phones, slowly prodding down the sidewalks would ultimately drive me mad. Kowloon and HK Island feel far more crowded to me than SZ, and they're definitely pricier. While they may be less sophisticated, I find mainland Chinese, in general, preferable to their HK brethren. (I'm sure I'll hear it for that statement from some of the HK boosters). I say all of this having three years in China and 100 visits to HK of varying lengths.
Kai, I can't speak to the one in Hunan, but I believe the electronics market, HuaXiangBei, is the biggest in China. Its not just computer parts, its all electronics, and its absolutely massive- both sides of several long blocks on the border of the Futian and Luohu districts. Its worth the ride down just to (meet me) see Shenzhen, in any event, so you might as well come down and check out HuaXiangBei as well.
