I don't fully get what's the big deal anyway. Twitter is mainly a publishing tool for celebrities and big figures with lots of followers. For them it works best. For the rest of us it's just another platform to express ideas and thoughts. Same as personal blog.
I was active on Twitter few years back and it felt like a gathering of people speaking to the air. The only way to engage with anyone was to stop posting, start listening and respond to their tweets directly with @user [@garyvee advice]. It worked really well. It almost felt like they were surprised that anyone gave a shit about what they posted and said something back to them. The platform just seemed like a big shouting medium then. Nothing has changed so far.
