The couple in the initial video remind me of this idiot:
TLDW: his wife was one of the victims in the recent Paris terror attacks. His young son understands the danger; he says that they need to move out because the bad guys have guns. His father replies, "They have guns but we have flowers." The kid then stares at his father like he's taking the piss.
The children of these couples are able to accurately assess the danger when they see it - without even knowing what a bear, or international terrorism, is - and yet their parents are completely blind.
My speculation is that it's the school system. 16 years obediently following the mandates of a gun-free zone, earning gold stars and letters on a report card for obedience, trains these Eloi that nothing can possibly go wrong, and that they just need to keep obeying the rules.
After all - Yellowstone is a NATIONAL PARK! Surely the federal government will protect them! They wouldn't let them do anything dangerous, after all!
