I find the whole notion of winging tricky. There are many variables to consider. The biggest issue for me is who is doing the winging.
Some guys makes terrible wings. If they don't have game themselves, they'll stand around not saying much and make things awkward for everyone. It's these situations where it's far easier to isolate the girl you're focused on at the earliest convenience.
I think I make a pretty good wing but I'd only do it if the girl was at least decent looking and I was making progress. Winging for hours on end just to benefit the other dude would be detrimental to my night out.
I had to seriously rack my brain for a positive winging experiences because I'm so use to rolling solo. Here's one:
A friend and I meet up in London for a night out. After some bar hopping, we end up in a tourist infested night club that's playing deafening house music.
There's about 10 girls in the entire place with only 2 that are decent looking. We approach both of them, they're moderately receptive but I simply don't have the patience to be competing with so many other drunk dudes.
I take a few laps around the club and return periodically. My friend seems to be making good progress with his one so he asks me to keep her entertained. I reluctantly agree. Her friend goes cold on me but I hang around for his sake.
Some time later, the girls head for the exit. My friend insists we follow. Outside the club there's an uber waiting. As they jumped in, my friend literally pushes me in next to them, telling them we'll share. They protest for a while but eventually agree.
We get to their place and they actually let us in to my surprise. My friend and his girl are into each other for sure. My one is still quite cold but I remain civil and friendly. After some more alcohol and some drinking games, my one starts to warm up, only to then complain that she's tired and leaves for her bedroom. I follow her. After a bit of LMR I get the bang. So does my friend.
Total fluke. I was so sure nothing would ever happen.
