Meh, I don't doubt that it's a preference.
The whole point of game, IMO, is that womens' preferences can be overridden. There exists a toolkit that enables guys who employ it correctly to dupe women into selecting something that they wouldn't otherwise select independently. Game is about tricking women by exploiting their weaknesses, it's beating a system. You either buy into this working or not, and if not, I'm not sure what you'd be doing here.
It doesn't matter what guys women select when they're picking out of a lineup on a television show in a well lit studio when stone-cold sober. That is not a situation that women are presented with in real life.
Anyway, I'm like 5'10", so I'm not tall, but I'm not really short either. I'm taller than most girls, and I do recognize that girls that are taller than me are, on the balance, tougher targets than girls who are shorter than me. It's just a preference though, it can be overridden at least in part, depending on the intensity of the preference and one's ability to deploy tools to counteract or negate it.
All just my bullshit unqualified opinion, of course.
