Don't want to divert the thread here too much.

In short it's rather simple - the above average and industrious man can still open location independent businesses, move abroad, do odd jobs online, climb the corporate ladder etc.

However the environment in most countries except such as China (where currently the world's manufacturing capacity is pooled) the average people are becoming poorer - as seen in rising real unemployment:



This is also seen in falling real wages, labor participation rates, disposable income for the bottom 90%:

No matter how you put it - less money for the lower 99% means that there is also less opportunities to make money off them on aggregate.

If you are a successful business owner or belong to the better part of the corporate hierarchy, then you will succeed somehow, but there is also more competition for those jobs:

Aside from what I mentioned above I might add that there are ways to profit from the refugee influx in all Western countries:

1. Rental properties - cheap, small and central
2. Rental properties for renovation using cheap labor - there are good legal cons out there which let the men sleep at the places that needs renovating and you let them work on their "own apartments"
3. Services which tend to the immigrants - most however are insider companies with strong government connections

There are certainly many other ways to profit from it - where one man sees a problem the other sees an opportunity.

Still - in aggregate Western society is becoming poorer - the media is just lying about it as about most things.
