I just had a thought: why do guys go to bars and drink tons and then go approach girls? Some have told me it's because it makes approaching easier for them. The whole point of going out, at least to me, is not to get drunk, but to pull a girl. If you leave without a girl you fail. I don't see many drunk guys with alcohol breath pulling girls, at least at the bar I frequent.
What is the point of getting drunk at a bar if you are a guy?
Get drunk or get tipsy? To me being drunk is when you can't walk a straight line. But Having a couple drinks and getting a little tipsy can loosen you up and make you more social, especially if you're nervous or uptight.
"What is the point of getting drunk at a bar if you are a guy?"
Its fun.
Its fun.
It's only fun to leave to leave the bar with a girl...
Leaving a bar with a girl and a headbuzz is far superior to leaving a bar with a girl and sober.

I agree. I don't have fun when I'm the only sober one in a bar. I don't get sloppy drunk, I always pace myself and cut myself off, but it's much more fun to be drinking in a bar then to not be drinking in a bar, regardless on whether you' wind up taking a girl home or not.
Is this a "fake" question. Everyone knows guys drink for the boost in confidence.
If you don't like to drink. Don't.
If you don't wanna get sloppy drunk, just have a few.
I think alcohol helps guys get girls, as long as you do it in moderation.

For me, first of all I don't always go out to pull. Maybe a little over half the time, like when I'm going to a club or somewhere good on the weekends, but a lot of times I'm just out to chill with some friends, shoot some pool, and get a good buzz going. The bar in the town I live in, every time I go there, I never expect to pull a girl, I don't even expect a cute girl to be there. Some nights I had a rough day at work and just want to go up and meet my buddy and shoot some pool and buy drinks. Sometimes I go to the bar to gamble while playing pool. If I am going to go out to pull tail, I'm still gonna get drunk most of the time. It can be frustrating being around a bunch of drunk people when you are sober at times (Can also be fun as well).
Going out and getting drunk can be fun. Having fun is a good thing ![[Image: wink.gif]](https://rooshvforum.network/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I think we all reach a certain point where going out to get a girl isn't as important as going out to just enjoy ourselves. Sure, while you're in college and things are a little more simple, going out is basically to get laid, but afterwards it becomes something you do after work or something else stressful (or out of boredom) just to release some tension and to hang around some friendly familiar faces.

Hell, in a perfect world with no manana, I would want to have a drug, booze and girl head buzz going.
Quite honestly, I'm still wondering what the hell I used to go to clubs (and sometimes bars) to for for years. It seems to be mostly a confidence booster for women, at least where I live.
I find approaching women so much easier in other places during the day, where no music is playing, and nobody else is trying to approach them.
If I was 18 again, I would skip that phase right away lol..

Yeah, despite being 23 I am already feeling like an old man when it comes to clubbing. However, there are some nights when all I wanna do is get shitfaced and make some bad decisions - especially when I am abroad.
There is a sweet spot for me in terms of drinking and approaching girls...probably somewhere like the 3 martini mark where I am feeling a slight buzz and can do ballsy direct openers.
I have solely been doing direct openers this week (went clubbing every night). To warm up I just do fly-by compliments, telling girls they are cute/beautiful and walking away. Some of them approached me later on and asked me why I walked away.
Honestly, at the beginning of the night unless I have some warmup sets or a little booze it's difficult for me to dive into sets. I am going to keep doing what I'm doing and see how it goes. Last night it went great - I found out this one girl lives in the adjacent apartment complex and wants to bang tonight (she was with her sister at the club last night but her sister left town).
I love the jekyll/hyde easiness factor that girls get when they go abroad or know that they are not being scrutinized by their social circle.
Before May I hadn't hooked up with a girl since late February and in the last 3 weeks I've boned four new girls.
I wonder if anyone else goes through these long sexless phases and then short intense periods where they get laid like rockstars.

I like to drink. Most nights nowadays for me i go out to drink i have no intention of looking for girls. Its just to have fun with friends or meet new people. I mean i usally end up with a few approaches no matter, but thats not the point. For me, the fun of drinking, getting drunk and hanging out is more then enough. And drinking games. In china we have some pretty awesome dice games that play alot like poker. Im pretty good at it so its alot of fun.
"3 martini mark where I am feeling a slight buzz"
3 martini's and you only have a "slight" buzz?

I dont drink martinis, but i can go three long islands and still be almost all together there. Then again i drink massive amounts for Chinese business, and used to run a bar, so a bottle of vodka a night is a nice comfortable amount. I dont see the question?

This is cultural thing. For example, in Russia, where I'm from, people go to bars to get drunk and chat with friends. Approaching in the bar there is pretty much as approaching in a gym - while it it possible, it's not your typical pickup place. The only exceptions I know are bars which frequent westerns, which are mostly hotel bars. Seems to be the same in Romania - at least in Bucharest. I have much more success in clubs here, despite loud music and tobacco smoke which makes it harder to dance.
Meeting in bars seems to be more American/English culture. I wonder whether this is also the case in Asia?

My impression is that Americans have quite low alcohol tolerance. If you go to Europe, three martini's there is just an introduction to some heavy drinking. This is also a requirement if you go to China or Russia - a lot of business there is discussed over some heavy drinking, and if you are weak in consuming strong alcohol, you'll be at disadvantage.

I think it is because americans drink faster. Euros drink at a more even pace, in my experience. Like many drink one drink from the hours of 3am to 6am.
When I questioned the martini thing, I was thinking in a row in the span of less than an hour.
Not a whole night.

You know, it's true. Far more of my pick ups come from meeting girls during the day, not drinking. It seems those are the better girls to find anyways.

??????????? I thought Americans were lushes. I see a lot heavier drinking with Americans over South Americans. The only nationalities I've met that competed were maybe England, Australia, Germany and South Africa.

Agreed. Americans drink like drunken assholes. I never once saw a girl puking in Brazil from drinking. I see it constantly here. Drunk girls that can barely walk coming out of the bathroom with TP on their shoe and barf on their shirt. I'm one to talk, I've been hung over all day....
Chinese culture is almost as bad as Americans in terms of binge drinking. Its like the bars get busy a bit right after dinner, and everyone is going all in on their drinks, and are gone by 10-11 tops all wasted out of their minds. Its rare to see people settle down and drinking at their own pace because in china, if you are with people, it is expected to drink together, as in at the same time and down your whole glass. But atleast in south china, rarely to people throw up in a bar. In a club is a different story, but in north china its "fun" to try to drink your friends under the table. I dont see the point.
I never understand why people drink way too much early on. I mean late in the night i can understand that someone might have one last drink that leaves them pretty wasted, but really, whats up with the chugging/beerbongs etc. Alcohol is something ment to be enjoyed, not mixed with random crap until it is flavorless/terrible or so watered down. Ill never get why chinese mix white wine with sprite, red with coke, and whiskey with green tea. I mean a real cocktail, well mixed is a sight to behold, but i cant stand the terrible mixtures.
I guess im in a higher class of drinkers.

Not Russians (unless they're sick). But at least with those Americans I know it is not the case. We had several traditional Russian parties in my place in Bay Area, and on those parties the rule is that everyone drinks vodka (or wine), and everyone drinks together and the same amount. Again, this is cultural thing. Our American friends were considerably more wasted than us - and we all drank the same amount with the same pace. What I found, though, is that they didn't eat as much - which is important when you drink a lot.

When we drink we manage to finish 1.75 liter vodka bottle in an hour for 8 people, and it is considered "warming up"
