Conor Mcgregor: Alpha or Reactive Beta?

Conor Mcgregor: Alpha or Reactive Beta?

My friends are saying that being "alpha" and being "cool" is when you are not reactive to other people and you can soak up the heat, the shit-tests, and you don't break your frame.

However, if you see people like Conor McGregor or Floyd Mayweather, they just talk shit to teach other, pretty reactive if you ask me, break all their frame and they just go against each other. Idk if you guys have seen the last press conferences, but during those they just talk shit, make fun of each other.
Is that being alpha or being a little bitch? I think if they were being unreactive and don't respond to the opponent, you kind of look like a bitch, don't you think?
Like you just sit there and just take the heat, shit-test and never talk anything back to them?
I understand that being reactive can make you look insecure and stuff, but when people talk shit to you and you don't even budge or response, it just makes you look like a pussy.

It's like a person calling you a faggot or being pretty passive aggressive when they barely know you, (maybe you have met them twice or for the 3rd time.), do you just ignore, be unreactive and go on your life so that they can do the same thing when they see you again? I feel like that's a coward move and you should call them out and be pretty reactive to them.

Thoughts?

It might not have occurred to you that it's all for show.

Like going to the circus to watch the lion tamer cracking the whip and see the lions roaring back.

If the lions just walked out and chilled across the ring from the tamer, who took a smoke break, then nobody would be interested in watching.

Do you have footage of McGregor shit-talking random people when there's not a 100million dollar payday in it for him?

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

Celebrity gossip bullshit is fucking lame. Does that answer your question?

Neither. It's called.... they're both making a shit load of money, talking shit is one way to boost TV ratings, and they're famous athletes so they'll get laid with hot girls regardless of being alpha or beta.

I think Conor McGregor has a girlfriend and a baby right now so your point is invalid.

I guess I need to rephrase the questions a bit, I know Conor vs Floyd is a joke and they are trying to sell more of their fight.

However, if you this happened in real life and someone was talking shit like that, would you talk shit back like Conor or just chill and move on?

How about we re-start this thread with a question for OP.

Describe the last time you got into a no-holds barred fight with a hostile stranger.

As others have said, the shit talking is for show. As for being reactive, they're going to get in the octagon and try to beat the shit out of each other. I'm not sure how much more you think they should do.

Sure, if you let people push you around and do nothing about it people will think you're a pussy. That doesn't mean you have to react straight away. Sometimes it's a better strategy to wait:

He's working. This is a part of the job. The hype machine and self promotion is as big(or bigger) part of the job as a professional boxer, as fighting is itself. He's making their investors money, and earning his payout.

bgbusiness - you're the intended target for this smack talk spectacle. You're buying into this, as if that is reality, you're questioning their motives, reality itself. Not at all different from WWE. This is purely theater, its fun to speculate whether Connor "got into Floyd's head" and what not, like Joe Rogan who is also promoting his own business interests. But dont be mistaken, this is show business.

The confidence video was more telling of Conor's actually demaneour. The irrational confidence is what I see in alphas all the time but the highly skilled ones will have the skills standard tools to execute and get what they want all the time. Caveman alphas may go for intimidation or even force if they can't initially get what easy. The interview of Conor when he was a nobody and he still had the same frame was the biggest clue that his mindset has been consistent for a long time now. The press conference are for show but Conor is a true blue blood alpha.

Is it possible to have that irrational confidence frame when you would you probably get your ass kicked in the average bar fight?

Can you really even attempt to desrcibe a guy like Conor M as a beta? Betas avoid high risk situations.

Man Conor is the definition of an Alpha Go Getter! His ascension to the top reminds me so much of the ascension of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Type in Conor McGregor vs Marcus Brimage Post fight interview... and when Conor yelled "50G's Babeeeey" - I had the same goosepumps when I first heard Stone Cold says "Austin 3:16 says I just whopped your A$$" at the 1996 King Of The Ring. I knew Conor would take over the Game when he cleaned off Dustin Poirier like he was a club fighter - The same feeling I had about Stone Cold after his match vs Bret "Hitman" Hart at WrestleMania XIII. Shit I'm getting goosepumps just typing this shit [Image: smile.gif]

They're actors, man.

You're watching a movie.

You think these two guys hate each other?

No! These guys love each other, each is about to make the other a fortune, man, they may even be best friends backstage for all we know.

Your commentary is kind of like judging whether Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Ludgren are alpha or not based on the interactions of Rocky and Captain Ivan Drago. Rocky and the Captain are not real people, they're characters played by actors, actors literally following a script. Now you can judge the character, sure, but you're not doing that, you're judging the actual human being based on the actions of the character that person is playing, and that doesn't make sense.

These boxers are putting on a performance, a live movie, if you will, but it's a script, even if some of it may be ad-libbed. You can't judge an actor's real beliefs based on the character he's currently playing.

Good point, I guess he is being proactive rather than being reactive.
I need to differentiate those two next time.
Thanks.

I only clicked on this thread because I was curious about what kind of person would find a question like this interesting or worthwhile.

The fact that youre creating a thread to analyze his personality means that youre now a consumer of his sports entertainment brand.

But to answer your question: He's a world champion cage fighter who beats the shit out of people for a living so what do you think?

Does he have to bite off Mayweather's ear for you to be satisfied he is alpha?

Never said that I am not a consumer of his sports entertainment brand?

IDK, some guys can be insecure even though they are fighters?

McGregor isn't going to get in Floyd's head, as this fight is a foregone conclusion. Floyd knows it and McGregor does. They're just playing the game.

McGregor is stepping up to get his arse whooped in front of millions of people to secure a $100 million payday that sorts his family for life. Seems like a pretty ballsy move to me - not much of the timid beta about that. I don't have much time for him as a character, but you have to respect the hustle.

What I find interesting is that these are grown men, and are perceived as such, but to me they look like large 'alpha' children. There is something boyish in these modern fighters that you'd never had seen in the old school fighters of 50 years ago.

Here's a couple of Ray Robinson, at about the same age, also a super star. To me Robinson radiates a level of supreme confidence, self-possession, and maturity that makes for a real alpha male even in a relatively young man:

When I was living in Ireland a long time ago, the Gaelic footballers played a bunch of Aussie rules footballers in some exhibition matches with a compromise on rules, meaning the Aussies weren't allowed to be as violent as they wanted. When they saw the more skillful Irish footballers start to pull ahead, they said fuck it and played by their own rules, beating the crap out of the Irish guys.

Does anyone think that something like this will be possible in this match? Conor saying fuck it and going MMA?

Outrage. Paychecks. Rematch.

It would be excellent pageantry.

Edit. Never Mind.
