Panama City vs. Santiago de Chile

Panama City vs. Santiago de Chile

Hello!

I plan to go to south american in a few month (february or march) and i was looking for a good country not too much dangerous where we can pull pretty easily without having a solid game.

I thought about the main countries where people tend to go( Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuala) but even if it is easy to get laid there i will not going because of the bad reputation of these places reputed as being dangerous. I dont want to have to look at my back every time i go out .

So after some research, i selected 2 countries where i will go (CHILE(SANTIAGO) , PANAMA CITY,).

I did not find many informations about chile concerning the girls and the game we need there but the few that i saw let me think that we can pass some good times and get laid with 7s or 8s with a little bit effort.

I also thought about PANAMA city and i noted that it was much easy to pull in PANAMA than in CHILE?? What do you think of that?

Sincerely, i prefer the girls from chile than panama, there are much beautiful and more my style but panama can be great also.

I wan to have your opinions? where you will go if you were in my place with the 2 countries cited? i can go only in one or 2 countries, i prefer to stay 1 month in a country than travelling in many countries and stay a little time in each.

PS: Forget about PEROU, i know it is very easy but the girls are incredible Ugly

thanks

This one just won't die.

Butterfaces exist here just like in every Latin country.

It's true that Andean genes are some of the worst on the planet, but these are not that profound and there are lots of available 6s, 7s and 8s in Lima.

All I know about Panama is that every guy I meet in Colombia who has been there says that the hottest women in the country are the Colombian hookers, so why not just go to the course? Oh ya, its too dangerous, never mind.

Panama City vs. Santiago de Chile

I've been to every place mentioned on this thread so far.

Panama is skid row with a wealthy city center, lots of high rises, lots of rich shopping, some outer resort type hotels, and a huge mass of poor central america. Its stinking hot and humid. It is VERY transient hence the whores.

Santiago is much bigger (like 5 million people) is a beautiful city with lots of culture, amazing food, interesting neighborhoods, a variable climate.

I tend to pull easier if I am comfortable where I am at. Me personally I could easily spend months in Santiago but a few hours in Panama City I am ready to go.

I read your Warsaw post to get an idea about what you are after. Here is another thought, unless you are after very poor Central American indian type chicks, which will look at you with suspicion and paranoia as a foreigner you should consider Santiago instead. In Panama, the good looking girls will be spoken for by many of the transient businessmen and families that go back and fort there from other countries and use it as a banking and business center, or they are whores as was mentioned here. In Santiago on the other hand, you have a fully functioning vibrant city with lots of young population in their 20s, students, areas to go out etc.

Good luck.

I can't speak for Chile, but I lived in Panama for a year and a half.

I can't give a glowing endorsement for Panama City, but if its your choice:

I'm assuming you're going after locals; Spanish is a must in the capital and especially in the interior. The places I imagine you would want to stay will be filled either with tourist backpackers waiting for a boat to San Blas, or rich city kids (who do speak English) where establishing a social circle is a must.

All the local flavor is out in San Miguelito, Pedregal, the Veinte Cuatro, or on the western side of the canal in Arraijan and La Chorrera. These places are either shit holes, or so far away, with the congestion, from the best amenities of Panama City. These girls all work downtown (so can be approached), but have vicious commutes in and out of the city, which can make setting up dates real difficult. The new metro line helps some, but not enough to fend off flaking.

Colombian whores are abundant. The Hotel Veneto is their main hangout, plus a few bars close to it. Also be skeptical of hembras at the Clubs on Calle Uruguay approaching you or responding a little too enthusiastically to you're approaches, most likely hookers.

My endorsement for Panama is outside of the city. Bocas is the eurotrash tourist island, I never went because of the reputation I heard about it.

My favorite places were in bumfuck Panama. I love Santiago de Panama. You'll stick out like a sore thumb, but everyone will be curious why you're there and will want to talk to you. The Azuero peninsula (provinces of Los Santos and Herrera) is filled with some gorgeous light-skinned latinas. I have not been to either, but the beaches of Pedasi and Venao have got some glowing endorsements from my friends.

Colon is pretty sweet too, heavy Afro-Caribbean vibe. Portobelo with black Jesus is a site to see (they have a huge black Jesus festival every year). One of the best meals I had in Panama was on Isla Grande, arroz con coco with fried chicken. I don't know what made it so good, but it was frickin' amazing.

Also if you got a longer term fling going with a girl, bring her to Valle de Anton for a long weekend. Lots of cozy $50 USD/night hotels, good restaurants, hot springs, cold springs, bike rentals, even a zoo. I was seeing a girl pretty seriously for a few months, and she ate all this shit up. I feel a lot of the city folk do, kind of like their version of "getting in touch with nature."

If you really want an epic adventure go east to the Darien. The capital of the province (La Palma) is only accessible by boat; it truly is as close to the end of the world as possible.

I went to Hotel Veneto, the hookers hangout, quite frequently as it had the best sports-book and the only craps tables in town. Every now and then I'd strike up conversation with the hookers to practice my Spanish, or bust balls after 5 or 6 beers, and surprisingly the best looking hooker I ever saw was indeed Panamanian... Viva Panamá!

Offtheres, have you ever been to the Valparaiso/Vina del Mar area of Chile? Seems like it would be a cool area to hang out in with a nice seaside vibe and close enough to Santiago that you could go there easily if you want to be in the big city for the day or longer.

Probably two of the worst capitals in Latin America as far as gaming and 'culture'. And they are very different from each other as well, a strange final two.

As pointed out above, Panama City has a small glitzy area where tourists hang out at casinos and the rest is somewhere between crap and bombed out dilapidation. Neither one of those is interesting, to me at least. You'll have trouble experiencing any middle ground, anything 'real'. Tons of prostitutes trying to scrape up business. Any bar you go to will have them bothering you. Someone mentioned Colon... god no. Most of it is pure shit hole, and not in a charming way.

Santiago is full of frumpy hipster girls, boring food, boring nightlife. City is alright, but nothing special.

If there were two capitals I had to eliminate first from a trip in Latin America, those two would be near the top. There's no reason to go to either of those places if you can choose from any location.

Capitals I'd choose before Santiago or Panama City in Latin America

-Buenos Aires
-Asuncion
-Bogota
-San Jose
-Lima
-Mexico City
-Anywhere in Brazil

..a dozen other second tier cities

Pretty much anywhere else.

Edit- As mentioned above, there are some decent towns outside of Panama City (not Colon though), just talking about the capitals.

You can visit plenty of places in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil without having to look over your shoulder. I think you're making a serious mistake writing those places off, there's a reason they are popular destinations. All of those places have better looking girls and a better chance for you to get laid with a local girl than either Panama City or Santiago. And Panama City is no more safe than destinations in those other locations.

This is laughably incorrect. There are a few girls in the top tier of looks in Santiago, and they are definitely not pulled with "little effort". They are rich girls surrounded with friends, and social circle and time is the only viable way to have a chance.

Neither of your chosen destinations have an abundance of good looking girls. And, in my opinion, neither city is interesting enough to offset any disappointment in pussy you may experience.

A few years back I was hanging outside of a karaoke bar in Bogota having a smoke and there were these three Chilean dudes there, I started talking to them (could barely understand the accent) and they were pretty cool guys, just arrived in the city the day before. They were freaking out as girls walked by down the street, their jaws were practically on the floor, they were amazed at how hot the women were. I told them these chicks were just normal girls, good looking yes but I told them to head to the Zona Rosa later to see some real beauties or better yet to Medellin or Cali.

There are some nice restaurants in Santiago, I agree. You can get most any international cuisine. And there's the American chains. I was referring to the local 'Chilean' food with my comment.

Holy shit, Cayenne, I think Neil Skywalker was the only RVF guy crazy enough to go there and from what I remember in his book, he was harassed by Brazilian hookers, seems like fun. I think there's a space shuttle launch pad there too, talk about a great destination.

But two things I must have in a place is good local cuisine and good looking girls, Chile is not the place for either of those. Which is a shame really, because there's plenty to like. That was 12/13 for me, really cool spot, would like to return. After, I flew back to Paramaribo to catch a flight to Georgetown on a Caravan to finish all 13 SA countries. I arrived at Guyana customs with the half dozen passengers and the officer had just come back from a smoke break. I told him that as of him stamping my passport I have been to all 13 SA countries, he put his had through the little passport slot to shake mine and said in a heavy "Jamaican" sounding accent, "WHY YOU SAVE GUYANA FOR THE LAST MAN?"

The cuisine is worse than Colombia's? Wow, that's saying something. At least they have good wine and I assume that would be cheap, my favourite Chilean is Casillero Del Diablo (I don't drink fancy wine) Cabernet sauvignon, it cost about $15 in Canada and for fuck sakes, its more expensive in Colombia because they don't really drink much wine there.

Speaking of Panama, that was the place that I really wanted to go before I realized that Colombia was the better option and I'm glad I made the decision based on what fellow travelers and people on here tell me. Isn't Panama just an extension of the Caribbean coast of Colombia? It was a party of the country until the US annexed it for the canal. I can't stand Cartagena and other coastal areas place for longer than a few days, I even started to adopt the regional prejudices of the interior Colombians, they're a bunch of ugly, lazy, fast talking donkey fuckers but at least they make good music.

I wouldn't say it's worse than Colombia, maybe equal. 'Better' in some ways, but more bland, if that makes sense. Again I'm talking about Chilean food, as obviously you can get other cuisines in both Santiago and Bogota. Did you go to Pizza 1969 in Bogota? Loved getting their personal pizza for like 6500 pesos.

Yeah Panama has some similarities to Cartagena, similar in food and culture, architecture, lots of Caribbean influence. I have a similar tastes as you, these places aren't for me at all.

Edit: Forgot to add- as far as good, cheap Chilean wine, I just had some tonight that my girl bought before Thanksgiving called Gato Negro, their Red Velvet Blend. It was excellent. One of the best red wines I've had in a long time. If you're still in Canada look for it.

A park near the city center in Cayenne. French Guyana is like a tropical Europe. Its organized, clean, friendly. You cant figure out where you are. Its Carib in climate and look, but you are on the SA continent. Its Europe in money and law. People are a mix of French, SA Indian, black, India Indian, Dutch, Spanish.

A French girl who was spending a year there.

The little neighbor countries are both unique and worth visiting also.

Suriname (Dutch Guyana) is Dutch speaking and the people are a cinamon mix of Dutch, African and a little SA. Very unique, nice local food, NO TOURISTS at all. Capital city is a UN Heritage site due to 1800s buildings.

Guyana (English Guyana) is English speaking and black. Also has a high mix and population of people from India (the India in Asia) and lots and lots of Chinese. Very poor, very interesting. People are nice. Less than zero tourists

Offtheres, that's excellent intel on French Guyana, you should put that into a proper data sheet, I'm sure other guys on here would appreciate it. That's one of the least known places on Earth, as I mentioned before, RVF member Neil Skywalker is the only person I've ever heard of going there and it didn't seem all that great but you've certainly painted a more positive picture, +1 from me. That's pretty cool that you've been to all of the countries in South America, I don't think I could cover that much area myself, some of those places probably aren't the easiest places to travel to.

If you do a data sheet, you should organize it into something like a "Northern South America" thread, including all of the places you mentioned plus Venezuela. Have you also been to the Dutch ABC islands?

Just to add a few things on Chile.....

It was great in the early to late 90s, but it has taken on a change similar to Seattle or Boulder Colorado. Hippies, chicks wearing skater clothes etc.

Food is great there as is the wine as mentioned.

Chilean girls can be hot, but to me, like Peru, you will sift through a bunch of them. I actually hooked up with Miss Chile contestent back in the day from Vina del Mar.

I don't know what it is, but Chilean girls degrade fast. Between the food, and smoking, you will see what I mean. They also tend to have a heart shaped ass almost flat.

Great country, go there often, and enjoy, but it's way down on the list for hot girls. I'd rather be in the Jungle of Peru pulling hotties there along the Border of Brazil.
