I don't think she would be that hot, she has that "has been fat most of her life" face, which is why she runs 1 or 2 times a week instead of 4-5, because she knows it wouldn't matter.

Who knows, maybe this will inspire more fatties to run.

Glass half full gentlemen..

Doubt it, fatties are not inspired by much. Generally just emotionally eating. If they got inspired by anything they would have been working out a long time ago. It isn't like they add 200lbs over night. Surely, at some point the brain might say, you know maybe 10 twinkles a day is ok but the 20 I just ate in one sitting might be too much.

It is because they are defeated and thus don't give a fuck. That is why they yell and scream the loudest about being picked on. The mouth is the only trained "muscle" they have.

Bottom line a person who doesn't give a fuck, doesn't get inspired or motivated. They are unpredictable in a bad way.

Plus, if fatties started running every city would need to triple the size of sidewalks. I bet injuries would go up. Not for the fatties, but for the poor souls that fatties run into with the limited ability to control themselves.

Edit: just thinking about walls of crisco running toward me gives me the shudders.

Preach man. If it was a fit/hot woman, it would be motivating to fatties who -may- have a drop of work ethic. My point is that it appeals as they can relate, somehow.

I admit, cannot comment on how fat people are viewed on the other side of the Atlantic as I do not live in the USA nor have I ever been.

South Africa has a high obesity epidemic (31% similar to USA's 33%) and this is due to people not being able to afford proper food, mainly in townships, (eat starchy, cheap filler meals) as opposed to not giving a shit.

Therefore, the root causes are different. Still- I have a pseudo-optimistic outlook on this and a lot of people, myself included, hate on fat people but I really do not see this cover as a negative. This is one of the most 'positive' contexts of fat people in the media; exercising. Sure, it glorifies/pedestalizes them but I thought this forum would be semi-pleased after all of these 'fat-acceptance' trends. The pictures message being 'lose-it'.

Then again, I am fortunate I live in Cape Town where people, especially women, are super-vain and take meticulous care of themselves (it's purely a class thing and people I come in to contact with) so the only fat women I notice are single moms or ones who have shitty incomes and eat for similar reasons (emotional or financial, both linked).

An ugly woman is a lazy woman.

Anyways, there goes my 400th post, discussing fat people.

Quote:Quote:

A woman has become the cover star of a running magazine after her open letter to a van driver who heckled her about her weight while she jogged went viral. Why has she struck a chord with so many?
In August Lindsey Swift wrote a Facebook post in frustration. She was out running when a man sang a "sarcastic" rendition of pop song Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) at her from a van.
In her open letter, Swift advised him that if the sight of her jogging offended him, "try driving with your eyes closed, into a lamppost". The post was only meant to be seen by her friends, but soon it had shared more than 25,000 times.`
She's literally saying: "You have insulted me, so you must now kill yourself"

Quote:Quote:

Now she's on the front of Women's Running UK. It's the first time the magazine has used a plus-size cover star.
Swift's story has struck a chord with runners. In particular, other female joggers compared their experiences of being heckled while out running.
Humblebrag opportunity identified.

Quote:Quote:

Swift, who is training for a 10km run, said she was heckled near Barnsley on 6 August. She said the drivers' behaviour could put someone less confident off running altogether.
She wanted to assert that "it's my body and it's done amazing things for me, whether it's fat or it's thin".
Training = hasn't done.
Writing an open letter based on a passing comment = not confident.
Amazing things = amazing it's still going after all that abuse.

Quote:Quote:

Only 31% of 14-year-old girls regularly exercise, compared with half of boys the same age, says the Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation.
These figures are little wonder given that so many women who run outdoors run a gauntlet of "leering, lewd comments and worse", according to Laura Bates of Everyday Sexism. Bates says thousands of women had shared accounts with the project of harassment as they exercised. Some said they had experienced this two or three times a week.
The harassment included verbal abuse about their appearance, unwanted sexual advances, having their paths blocked, as well as being groped and followed. "There's this sense of entitlement to women's bodies in public spaces," says Bates. "Many women write to say they've given up exercise as a result."

English girls, but whatever.

Quote:Quote:

However, Bates says there needs to be "a shift in social and cultural norms" if female joggers are to feel safe from harassment.
Part of the issue is the way runners are typically portrayed, says Alexandra Heminsley, author of Running Like a Girl. "There's a perception that you shouldn't be doing it unless you look like someone in a sportswear ad," she says.
This "self-perpetuating" myth is based on the false notion that running should be about being skinny rather than being healthy, she says, and it deters many of the people who would benefit most from taking up exercise.
So the choice on offer is:
you put down the cake
-or-
the entire world has to change its view on what's healthy

Quote:Quote:

Hufton says the UK edition put Swift on the cover because a "one-size-fits-all" approach is no longer appropriate.
She doesn't fit any of the sizes.

Quote:Quote:

"It's time real female runners were given proper representation in the media," she says.
Skinny women aren't real women? I thought we were supposed to be the mysogynists?

I can guess what the 8 ultimate strength moves are. Each time she takes a step its like doing a single leg squat with 400lbs on your back. It's only 8 moves because she gets too tired after taking that many steps.

The thing that rattles me most about all this "all women are beautiful nonsense" is that the bitches they showcase all have a pretty face, or one that could be if they lost fifty pounds. If they reallybelieved that shit they'd put some skinny broad with a busted face on the cover. Really shows that as much as they'd like their fantasy to be true, they know it can't be the reality

Indeed.

I was watching some fashion show or other on TV yesterday and they had a few lines modelled by the fat-models.

Every single one clearly worked out despite filling their face with food all day and every single one had a relatively slim, attractive face.

Dear All,

Sorry for re-float this threat, specially being my first post on the Forum. I just register to comment something that apparently has not been noted by other members. At this overweight level, aesthetically it does not matter if a person tries to loose weight with exercise, better eating habits and life style changes, because in most cases the skin will be remain after the fat smelt away. Of course the health of the person could improve a lot, but for looks it will be exchanging a problem for another. Why nobody explains it at the school? It is no as easy as diet/exercise to become good looking slim.

I have being reading this forum for ages, but never signed in to post until today. I shall say it is a little sad for me that my very first post has been wrongly understood and I am accused of being a female.

Is that a new member shit test? Shall I agree and amplify?

At least tell me why I am accused of being a woman or what caused your responses.

Thanks again.

It's not what you said darling. It's the way you said it. It hurt our feelings and made us feel bad about ourselves. By the way I've reached 1000 posts here, which makes me an alpha male. Just saying.

How does this Jewish conspiracy continue generation after generation? That is some determination. Perhaps after the old Jews pass away the younger ones won't care as much about ruling the world and genociding whites.

Putting a fat woman on the cover of the January issue of a running magazine is an act of genius.

Buying a running magazine is much easier and costs far less than joining the gym and never going back like she did last new years.

Profit.

@mataor

As someone who lived it, it’s not that bad.

430 to 210 - there is a lot of skin, a good 10 pounds worth. Visually, I look like a melted, plastic Farnese Heracles knock-off. When laying on my side, my nipple pools onto the sheet next to me - a half-foot from where it ‘should’ be. When I run without compression clothes I’m applauded by a cacophany of golf-claps from slack, slapping folds. On gusty days without a shirt I catch mad wind-resistance.

All of this brings me a childish Joy.

After going through such an arduous journey, the loose skin is a badge of honor. A constant reminder of what I can accomplished - what anyone can accomplish.

As for the OP:

If that cover inspired just one woman to get on top of her shit I’m for it. Let’s be honest, many who used that tank to justify their failure were going to keep up that streak regardless.

@ThriceLazarus:

Congratulations for your effort. I lost 45 pounds fat when I started improving myself, and can only imagen the enormous will power you needed to loose 220 pounds. My post was directed to women looks. What I do not understand is when a man looks has become so important. I am quite sure any of my grandfathers or even my father have taken care of their skin, hair (more than the regular haircut), weight, etc.. and all of them got beautiful wives. As I child I learn a man should look masculine, not cute.

I have a small question. Does the excess skin improves over time?

Thanks!
