You should change your username. This is not a good thread...

How is it you have been a member for 4 years and you do not bother to include quotes or excerpts in your OP?

Hahahha this actually made me LOL - I wouldn't have even taken a second to look at this guy's username if not for this comment.

As for the actual thread - I haven't read the science, but I imagine that a strong blast of sugars and starches, without any "fiber" holding them together, can be a strong shock for the nervous system. I would imagine it may cause problems if you have problems related to diabetes.

On top of this, I think maybe sometimes the juices are very acidic and can cause issues with the stomach lining.

I recently juiced two beets from whole foods (one red one orange). The juice didn't smell that great, but I read that its good for T-Levels... so I downed it. I began filling dizzy, lightheaded, and generally ill, and the next 10 minutes were spent puking my guts out over the toilet...

I think, like everything, you just need to be careful and take everything in moderation. Tolerance to juices should be built up, and you need to think... "Ok, well I would never eat two beats in one sitting without juicing... whats to make me think I could do it after I juiced them?"

Women ruin everything. You're not supposed to be juicing fruit. Juice vegetables and greens with a lemon and some ginger for taste.

Yes, sucrose/fructose are baaaaad for the reasons discussed. That article is for women who are like, "I'm drinking fruit juice instead of soda and I'm still fat. Why?" ?

You're supposed to eat vegetables whole. As said above a sudden ingestion of pulverized sugars and starches won't be good for you.

We've got a 28 page thread on juicing and Mr. Shit Thread comes in here and posts an article, no commentary, linking to some silly women's rag.

Then we've got the scientists over here trying to tell us not to "shock our system." Come on guys juicing won't kill you.

It won't kill you but regular quick release of carbohydrates and sugars could potentially cause problems later in life such as insulin resistance.

Juicing is stupid. Just use a regular blender that way you keep all the fiber/pulp and beneficial parts of the fruits and vegetables.

Humans are so silly. They want the easy way out of everything and end up eliminating everything that's actually beneficial.

That said I have a blender and like to make smoothies with different combinations of grapefruit, strawberry, blueberry, spinach, banana, etc. Sometimes I'll add protein powder or use milk as well. But note this is just a blender so it doesn't eliminate all the fiber.

I think one of the healthiest I've been was my junior year of college my diet was the same every week. Pasta with onions, peppers, tomatoes and chicken everyday. Protein smoothie with spinach, blueberry, and protein powder every day. Huge amounts of water. My body started getting so chiseled after 3 months that people were asking me if I played college football when I would go to the bar. Also something about my smoothies seemed to clear up my skin, make my hair nicer, and made my eyes lighter. I'm black and have dark brown eyes but my eyes seemed to lighten a bit in color after a few months of having that smoothie every day. Mainly in the sunlight but one time my roommates girlfriend asked if I was wearing contacts cuz she said my eyes were so light.

Very interesting. I need to get back in that mode.

Yeah juicing might be bad if all you drank was juice day in day out.

It's friggin juice, how many juice related illnesses you ever heard of?

People write articles as a living, so they will write about ANYTHING, whether it's correct or not, because it's how they make a buck.

Quit reading articles. They're shit. Read books, studies, and talk to people who are doing what you want to do. And don't read crap that women send you, they're idiots. I wouldn't take advice from a human that sucks on a penis.

It's only bad if you juice soy.

But few talk about this.

I know of the existence of the other big juicing thread. I legit chuckled at "Mr.SearchThread", but I assumed that everything in that thread was positive. I just wanted to get differing viewpoints from when not everything is "positive".

I was told by a gastroenterologist that I have mild-gastoparesis (delayed stomach emptying), so that I should stay away from high amounts of fiber. That is why juicing seems like a better option for me than smoothies. Obviously I don't want to do my body harm by over-juicing though.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. Bacon, next time I'll add some excerpts. I respect your text game because I've read your threads before, and you do good.

Juicing greens is very beneficial but it tastes awful.

A few years ago I did a 40 day juice fast after being inspired by the documentary Fat,Sick,& Nearly Dead. I dropped a ton of weight (20+ lbs.), and was definitely healthier. The hunger cravings were unpleasant though.

The only negative I experienced was the effect on my teeth, dental erosion and increased cavities, probably due to the increased acids and sugars of the fruit juice I was consuming.

Juicing in and of itself isn't bad.

It's when you load it up with fruit (fructose is sugar) and you get shitty vegetables that you don't wash properly is when you run into problems.

Lots of fruits and vegetables are jam packed with pesticides so be sure to wash them first. It sounds obvious on it's face but it's easy to get lazy and forget to do that if you juice often.

Or you can just learn to brush and floss.

One of the best and easiest things you can do for dental care is to rinse your mouth out with water after every meal or drink, especially when sugar and acids are involved.

I brush twice a day, but when you do a juice fast, especially with the high daily acidity, its not going to be enough. Its not like a normal diet. But please, do enlighten us with your personal experiences of doing a juice fast and your methods so us simpletons can benefit from the wisdom.
