Great read and great interview from muselife with self-made millionaire MJ Demarco.

He's also got some youtube videos which are pretty hilarious in my opinion but also ring true:

Just finished the book yesterday thanks to YMGs suggestion. It really changed how I view money and making it. A must read for anyone on this forum.

The Millionaire Fastlane - babelfish669 - 07-20-2011

His stuff is definitely a much read for anyone who hasn't made money on their own, or anyone who has made money on their own but scratches their head when you tell them to triple their income in 6 months. It is really hard to tell people they are doing something wrong when it has to be explained in chapters not paragraphs.

Sounds good. I've seen this book before and read some positive feedback on it. I'll get it as soon as I return from Thailand.

Another good book in the same category, specially for those looking to get into the independent location lifestyle/travelling non stop, read Chris Guillebeau's The Art of Non-Conformity. I'm reading it now and it's an excellent book. Highly recommended.

The Millionaire Fastlane - Riker - 07-22-2011

Great read, I found it on PDF on a torrent. Its really fucking motivating, lets all get sick paper.

The Millionaire Fastlane - kbell - 07-22-2011

I will pick this book up eventually. I have it in my amazon wishlist. Since Borders is going out of business are there any other books you would recommend for similar info? I just got the 80/20 rule and Vagabonding.

The Millionaire Fastlane - OSL - 07-25-2011

I don't know about "similar info" since the millionaire fastlane is sort of in a class of its own.

Some other business related books I'd recommend:

-Work the System

-Riches Among the Ruins

-Sourcecontrol (Ebook, by David Walsh)

I'm very hung over. I'll get back to you with a better writeup.

The Millionaire Fastlane - k37 - 07-25-2011

Read the book and loved it. Thanks for the recommendation youngmobileglobal it was what I needed to get my business moving from "interest" to "commitment". I even filed all the regulatory papers this week!

The Millionaire Fastlane - Screwston - 08-02-2011

Youngmobile - are there any other travel/business books you'd recommend?

The Millionaire Fastlane - OSL - 08-02-2011

Getting Things Done - David Allen

Shantaram - Author?

Have any of you guys heard of the Personal MBA?

http://personalmba.com/best-business-books/

Once I get an iPad I want to start downloading these books. I've read about 15 percent of this list already.

I just signed up here and have been reading through some threads.

If you guys aren't aware, you can get the first three chapters of MJ's book by signing up to his blog. It's a great read and I suggest you check it out.

The Millionaire Fastlane - Farmageddon - 08-03-2011

"Think And Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill

I think that book is like the godfather of all the other books that have been listed. My Dad read it when he was 15 and said it changed his life. He also gave the book with "I read this book when I was a teenager and it changed my life. Love, Dad" inscribed on the inside cover to both my sister and I upon our 18th birthday.

TAGR is pretty much ubiquitous on 'best of' lists and I would totally recommend it to anyone trying to better oneself.

Ah yes Chris Guillebeau's stuff is excellent! it was reading his blog that got me geared up towards planning a trip for kilimanjaro next summer

Great recommendation, thanks. A lot of wisdom in there.

This video by MJ Demarco was a particularly bitter, but timely, pill for me to swallow. I had the opportunity to enter a startup before I went to graduate school but I went for higher education instead. That company has recently been sold for 24 million.

We are the result of all the choices we have made up to this point in our lives.

The Millionaire Fastlane - Saladin - 08-11-2011

Amazing Video.

The Millionaire Fastlane - Prophylaxis - 11-14-2012

Bump.

Just about to finish The Millionaire Fastlane. Only heard it through recommendations from RooshV members. Originally was skeptical because of the title, but I cannot recommend it strongly enough. Without a doubt has changed my perspective on wealth creation and the futility of savings and being frugal.

The Millionaire Fastlane - Drazen - 11-14-2012

the book is fantastic. however, i find the forums on their site a bit hard to navigate.

The Millionaire Fastlane - elabayarde - 11-14-2012

awesome

The Millionaire Fastlane - RichieP - 11-15-2012

Nice.

Yeah like a couple others here I was skeptical because of the books title, just watched one video by him on Youtube and got an awesome concept out of it. He sounds like he's got some chops. Gonna read it.

BTW, I also second "Work the System" by Sam Carpenter. Absolutely awesome.

The Millionaire Fastlane - WanderingSoul - 11-15-2012

Richie, can you post the video?

The Millionaire Fastlane - SelfPaid - 11-15-2012

If I have seen the video, they shot the interview a last year and it is interresting.

I have respeckt for this guy going after what he wants.

Watiching that video is not going to put a million bucks into you're bank acount but maybe encourages you to get creative and do something on you're own to get what you want financially.

If you allready know what you're doing when it comes to making Money I don't think you can benefit that much from the video, but see for you'reself

Sure, it was this one:

The analogy of money as a cat was a "aha" for me. Go directly after it and it runs off, but sit down with a big plate of tuna (i.e. Value) and you can entice it in.

Also the idea that your business has to be the equivalent of selling $100 bills for $50... people really have to perceive the value proposition of your offer just as clearly as that, for them to come running to you with their cash.

I've heard it 100 times (focus on creating value, not chasing money) but for some reason those analogies made something go "click" in my brain.

It's a great book, I'm reading it now
