Mofo, while some are ok, the vast majority of Frenchmen I have met piss me off no end. Everything from the high and mighty belief of superior culture to the condescending attitudes that seem ingrained in them. Everywhere from business to travel, I can count on one hand the number of Frenchmen I have time for. I dont know what it is, but for me as an Australian, its a culture clash of extreme proportions I think. They often behave in a way that is the polar opposite of what we find acceptable. So its a generalisation and needs to be taken as such, but one from an uncultured simpleton who thinks them snooty, pretentious, feminine weaklings.

It's extreme, but Harry makes a great point here. For those of us coming from Anglo-Celtic societies...it can be a massive culture clash. To speak from a fair, neutral perspective, their assumptions are fundamentally different. Where I can pretty much slot in with most American, English, or Australian dudes anywhere in the world, Frenchmen are way different. A lot of times their being "cerebral" or "highly particular" about things comes off as snooty and pretentious to my US eyes. And condescending. I want to tell them to chill the f--- out and go with it, but they don't work like that. Again, to be fair, I interact better with them toning down the brash American side. They don't respect obnoxious. Also, I learned from business that I think they view themselves as more "individuals," so they have a different view of "team" play that comes across to others as selfish and condescending. I read something that before the 1998 World Cup they never really won much in team sports. And even the 1998 team was mostly immigrants.

Having met tons, I only connected with a few, usually the crazier foreign legion types; one ran a hotel in the Sahara on the border of Morocco and Algeria. If you got a chill scene, bottles of wine, Coltrane bumpin', bocce and 200 ft sand dunes you're ok in my book. They are really interesting in extreme situations, IMO.

And when Mixx asked me to break down my French girl approaches in the other "Easiest Lays" thread, I neglected to mention DON'T HAVE YOUR ENGLISH HOMIES ANYWHERE AROUND. The culture clash is huge; they're not into the senseless drinking of the Anglo-Celtic countries. I love it, but again, toned it down with French women. Believe me, when some dude is passed out on the sidewalk from excessive drinking and English guys are pulling the Old School "Ian can't handle his ale" stuff (awesome, IMO), French girls would rather be anywhere else. It's like fire and water.

I lived in the south of France for a year back in 99' and even the people there generally don't like Paris too much. It definitely is a clash of cultures for anyone from an Anglo country, the bad blood between the English and French does go back a few hundred years!

I find that you have to know how to take them, they do think that they're better than other countries (UK especially) and in many ways, THEY ARE (better weather, wine, food, beaches, mountains, etc). They know that they live in the most visited country in the world, they're proud of their culture, history, language, etc.

You just have to know how to chop them down a bit when they start going on about how high and mighty they are, here's a good one: "So, how many cars, on average, are torched every year the suburbs of Paris"? "How many police No-Go zones are there currently in France", "Any riots lately in Paris"?, etc.

Have any of you guys heard of the "Paris Syndrome"? basically its a phenomenon where Japanese tourists who come to visit Paris freak out and need to be hospitalized when they realize Paris isn't all its cracked up to be, hilarious!

It has long been my dream a build a nuclear bomb that blows up exactly in the shape of France and drop it in the middle. I despise almost every French person I have every met and think they are SCUM. The day the UK goes to war with France is the day I join the army. They are prententious, cowardly, arrogant, ignorant and pointlesly argumentative. For 1000 years the English were at war with France and it is a shame Hitler ruined that by forcing us to protect them from the Nazis.

My heritage is a mix of Irish, Indian and Middle Eastern but I consider myself English and as such it is my duty to hate the French, I still go to French restuarants and have visited Paris many times on account of how beautiful it is but; it is an English mans duty to Destroy France and all its people.

G Manifesto, I speak enough French to order my food at Le Gavroche and to translate the Menu for anyone who does not speak French, that is about it. When I was at school we had to learn French, I guess as some kind of know your enemy thing , we were even encouraged to visit France on cultural exchanges, I would guess in order to select possible targets for destruction prior to an invasion. the trouble is the Frenchman can be crafty, they refuse to speak French to English people and pretend your French is so bad they don't under stand, this is a trick to make spying on them harder. Luckily my Muslim brothers from Algeria,Tunisia and Morocco are slowly invading and we can conqeur the French form inside.

This doesn't look like it's heading in the right direction.

We have the same feelings in Canada between the English and French, there's quite a bit of animosity on both sides. I often find myself defending Quebec in conversations with red necks in Alberta who will make sweeping generalizations such as "all those god damn frogs are rude and arrogant", "none of them will speak English to you, even if they know how to".

My first question is always "did you try speaking French to them"? That usually shuts them up pretty quick!

The same thing goes for the French people in Quebec, many have never been to other Canadian provinces and can be quite ignorant of Anglo Canada culture (most Quebecois would probably argue that such a thing doesn't exist!).

People need to get over the whole English/French thing, we share more similarities than differences!

Stupidity and nuclear bombs aside I genuinely think there are fundamental differences in morality between England and France.

I will say this about the French. I do get a sense of amorality with the over emphasis on secularism and free thought.

Billy, I totally understand where you are coming from but in life, I've learned to try and just avoid those who aren't vibing well with me. This planet is huge and we can go to places where we are loved.

Trust me, my initial feeling of France (remember, I've only been to Paris) wasn't the greatest by any means. I have numerous bredrins that have dated French lizards and they got the bad treatment EVERY time they crossed the channel.

I even discouraged my cousin from trying to move to France to live.

For me, I would like to visit other French cities (which will mean my French has to be extra tight) and after that, if all fails, then I write it off and move on to mon premier amour, Espanol.

Life is too short to try and beg favour from those who don't want to welcome us.
All I can put down to being, it's a different culture. We are not going to like everyone and we won't hate everyone. As long as they are not trying to do me and my people harm, may they live long.

A bientot!

This is interesting, I have never banged a French chick and never really connected on a level with any French people but when it comes to Russians the girls and me just seem to work without trying and every Russian speaker who ever set foot in my bar ended up drinking vodka with me and having a whale of a time.
When in Rio I had to work pretty hard to bang a chick, I was there for a week or so and though I liked Brasil it took me some some serious hard work to bang a chick I think I approached 30 plus girls before I Banged an ugly fatty Brasilian girl just to get my flag , switch to EE and I cannot imagine even working to get a girl just go out have fun and within a few nights you will bang.

This is also interesting, I never truly connected with Russian women, but French girls connect with me easily, but cannot connect with Russians.

So, I guess its safe to "assume" that if you connect with Russian, you probably won't connect with French and vice-versa.

I think it's more a personnal succes than a norm . Women from EE goes for White and their own religion in majority . I have been for a while with a lot of them and rarely see any inter-racial .

Mixx you'r latin , you will always find more easy with latin language women . It's the same with me .

Billy your like the antipod of any francophone place .
Your Indian...it's an old british colony . We don't have many indian in Québec and pretty sure in the majority
of the francophony . And no disrespect but with all the characteristic that i know from the majority of Indian and Middle Eastearn and your english it's a massive clash . I understand your point of vue and it's really funny because I can't really imagine what would be a kind of person who could be more to the opposite than you .

There is a whole lot of study to do here I think, there may be a slightly different mentality for the different regions; Russians Latvians Lithuanians Ukrainians all seem to work for me, Brazilians were hard work only got a flag becuase I banged a bird who I would never normally look twice at, and I just have no way at all to even have a decent conversation with a French Girl. Never had a Portugese girl or an Italian either ?

Is it a mental block placed by my subconcious or something else ?

Nice. I'm definitely making a stop through the Chi this summer, in addition to Montreal of course. I was in Grand Rapids over the holidays visiting family and I've come think that there might be some gems in the Midwest. I've slept on Chicago for the longest time. It's about time I pay a visit.
