Alright thanks for the input. I don't care all too much about gaining muscle mass as opposed to preserving it and still getting strength gains. I'm going to keep doing stronglifts during this "cut" too

yeah its essential to keep lifting heavy even when your cutting,i know its much harder but its better in the long run.then as your strenght stays and your now at a lower bf%,your actually stronger.

as in,you are now at a lower body fat but you are able to keep lifting the same weight/more weight than your previous weight.so you end up getting to the point where your strenght keeps going up and your physique has a better muscle to fat ratio and strenght to weight ratio = Winning!

just do it slowly man trust me,dont rush into massive fat loss.its not good, slowly is best.whats your diet like?

I try to follow these guidelines: http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-diet-...-fat-loss/ I eat a lot, sometimes not enough veggies, I eat like shit when I go back to my parents house (once a month or so) and occasionally eat chineese food, all you can eat sushi (once every few weeks) or some other kind of fast food like that, maybe 2-3 times a week at most.

Juice is a bunch of sugar, not good for you at all. maybe an improvement over how some people eat though lol.

Dont comment on something you clearly have no information about. The juice fast Creep was talking about was VERY heavy on vegetables, not fruits.

Take yer own advice, pilgrim. Still mostly sugar. I own an expensive juicer and stopped using it, it's not all its cracked up to be. Sorry.

Just because you went around juicing the things that tasted good and not the things that were healthy doesn't prove that you have a clue.

Kale 0g Sugar
Broccoli 2g Sugar
Carrots 6g Sugar
Celery 2g Sugar
Ginger 0g Sugar
Spinach 0g Sugar
Apples 13g Sugar

Those are all the numbers for a 1 cup serving of everything. Thats 7 cups total at a whopping 23 grams of sugar, if you juice and add the pulp back in, consuming the entirety of the veggie/fruit you initially put in thats Thats a little more then 3g per 8oz serving.

So I stand by my initial statement, you dont know what you're talking about and making brash declarations based on your lack of information.

Anyone have any ideas on digestion and nutrient-absorption for juicing? Can the stomach actually absorb all the nutrients properly when it's in liquid form?

I don't know if anyone else has posted this yet, but I've just started doing it and it seems to work: http://artofmanliness.com/2012/01/25/int...t-fasting/

Im just speculating, but I'd imagine it would be easier for the stomach to breakdown and absorb everything in juice form. Less work has to be done to it.

Alright I don't think this counts as losing fat but it's definitely worth mentioning.

I started taking a Hot Yoga class at night. You can google it for more info. I did an experiment last night. I weighed myself naked before and after class. I was 4 pounds less after a 90 minute workout. I drank about half a gallon of water throughout the work out. Water weighs about 8 pounds a gallon. Sweat probably weighs slightly more.

So I went down 4 pounds and drank 4 pounds of water. So I must have sweat out 8 pounds(1 gallon) of water in 90 minutes. True story.

I'm going keep track of my weight loss over a few months and post my results.

I've lost about 12 pounds and ~2" off my waist the past few months. Basically just from eating decent and running.

I've got six weeks before pool season officially starts. I'm planning on losing another 12 pounds, but this time in a window about twice as small (six weeks).

I'm probably hovering around 12-14% BF. Does anybody have any anecdotal evidence about losing another 10 lbs or so at this level (I'm 6', 185lb, 34" actual waist)? I know getting to sub 10% is hard, however I feel like it will be more and more rewarding the closer you get to that level. Basically you get to a point (say 12%-14%) where there isn't any significant accumulation of weight anywhere, just little bits of pudge in some spots (love handles, lower abs), but you can't grab a hunk of anything (like you can in the higher teens!). I feel like once you get to this point, 10 lbs will make a huge difference. I sure hope so anyway.

I'm doing cardio 4-5x a week, aiming for 2000 cals 5 days a week with two 24 hour fasts per week. Trying to take it easy on drinking.

[to clarify from my first thread, i have taken creatine which added about 5 lbs, so I consider 192 to 180 lbs to be my weight loss]

I know what you are talking about. I've never had trouble to go from 20+% to 12-15%, but getting to the 10% mark is a bitch.

If you can get ephedrine, ECA stack is the only "fat burning pill" that actually works. Should make you burn extra 200-300 calories per day - enough to get you over the hump. Other than that, can't think of anything better than maintaining a cal deficit, staying off carbs and doing HIIT 3 times per week.

I'd like to drop about 30 pounds in the next month or two, or whatever it takes to get at least close to a six pack. I went from 252 to 191 since i joined the forum, but have plateued. I'm at the gym every other day, eat about 1500 calories a day, low sodium diet, drink lots of water, and on OTC diuretics, but I still have this "pouch" over my stomach. I'm at 25.1 BMI (I'm overweight...by 0.1 point), though I'm kind of stocky. I'm kind of fighting with one foot in the bucket because I have to boost both strength and running endurance, while losing weight rapidly. Plus, I have very very little money to work with (marginally unemployed) and I can't really cook at my apartment.

around 2800 at least in theory. When I first started losing, I was down to 400 a day 6 days a week and 1600 on day 7. Now I usually have most of my calories in bread and chicken.

400 calories?! were you under supervision of a doctor or anything? do you take any nutritional supplements?

Maybe try doing a paleo-esque diet instead of what you're doing. Meat and veg.

I run almost an hour every two days at the gym...and no doctors, just went "I'm fat!" and stopped eating 6 days of the week at a time. Should probably look into paleo or IF and start running every day.

Yogurt in the morning with flax seeds for breakfast, 6 boiled egg whites (w/o yellow part) for lunch, and some combination of steamed chicken/fish with steamed vegetables for dinner. Mix in fruits, balance bars, and water/coffee throughout the day.

After having tried many different variations, I found this is the most consistent meal plan for me such that it relieves me from having to go on any crazy crash diets or popping cheap pills. I also find that carbs (even wheat bread) and any kind of processed food in general makes me lethargic and moody so I try to avoid them as much as possible.

The trick is to make your diet/exercise sustainable, almost to the point where you enjoy doing both. Boiled eggs for lunch do not sound appetizing at first but it's softer on the stomach unlike a typical meal from subway. It's also the leanest and meanest protein out there.

Don't waste egg yolk. Your body needs cholesterol to produce testosterone and vitamin D.

Also, don't overdo it with fruit - the carbs from the fructose can really add up if you are not careful.

I've begun mixing my whole eggs with egg whites in a 1:2 ratio for my Big Arse Omelet in the morning, works well.

There are too many estrogenic compounds in today's food that it is almost impossible for average men to lose weight as fast as they can. These compounds are called Xenoestrogen - commonly found in plastics. When it gets to the body, it builds up and resists fat burning. Therefore, you'd need a different kind of diet for this. Ori Hofmekler wrote a book called Anti-Estrogenic Diet. It basically contains a list of natural food that can act as anti agent to the xenoestrogen.

Leangains has been amazing. I've done it for a week already, and my body fat is shrinking and my muscle mass seems to be staying relatively the same. And I can even lift more in the gym.

IF is the way to go.

Losing weight fast is a bad idea. It's very stressfull on the body and psyche and most importantly it's ineffective and unhealthy.

Your body fat acts like a storage for water insoluble toxins, such as the xenoestrogens mentioned above, which get liberated and reach high levels in the blood stream when you quickly lose a lot of fat.

Also, dropping pounds fast can cause stretch marks as your tissue cannot adapt that fast. Doesn't look very attractive, imho.

I don't believe in crash diets or diets at all as you have to lose weight and then maintain it...you need to think long term.

Fast losing of fat is also going to result in loose skin. This skin than needs to be surgically removed since it looks really bad. I'm not sure after a certian point if does shrink. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=...=1&theater

Take time losing the weight and work on building muscle too. I agree about leangains, especially its workout routine, but don't try to rush weight loss. Let it drop off naturally.

Running is an awful way of losing weight. Its much slower than weight training in burning calories, and more likely to develop tears and overuse injuries. You also raise cortisol levels through the roof and for extended periods. This digests your muscles. I think its better to occasionaly do a short burst of sprints and long bouts of walking (raises your heart rate quite a bit, and doesn't mess with cortisol as much).
