Nothing makes more sense than a finacial deterrent to passing out your business card and building your network [Image: rolleyes.gif]

I know that this thread is sarcastic, but I think that these cards would make the richest men on the planet blush.

I can't see Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, or other businessmen using these cards. I would think that they would offend them on principle. Most men that have built themselves up, form the ground up, seem to have practical sensibilities - no matter how wealthy.

Now, I can see the son of some oligarch or a high level drug dealer that wants to look flashy (and therefore with a short career) having these cards as $1500 ego enhancements.

This makes about as much sense as diamond-encrusted condoms.

If I ever see a guy flash one of these cards, I'd pull out a picture of a starving child in South America, with a terminal illness, and say, "give it to him/her instead - moron".

The thing about those cards, is that anyone who could REALLY afford to use them, has no use for them in the first place. Do you think that the CEO of Goldman Sachs needs a diamond encrusted business card to impress people? Furthermore, anyone who would be impressed by a diamond encrusted business card probably doesn't have the assets or position to be worth doing business with, unless you are targeting lottery winners.

I am a real big fan of the Japanese model for business cards. Basically, the higher your status, the less shit you have on your card. The Emperor of Japan just has his name on the business card.

This is actually the same model in Colombia. The real HIGH STATUS big-shots do not even put their cell phone number on their cards, you need to chase them, not the other way around. They just put their name, and THAT'S IT!! On a plain, white, ordinary card with no fancy graphics, or colors or BULLSHIT.

I have a card from the mayor of Medellin. It just has his name, and tittle below. NO PHONE NUMBERS.

However, drug narcos who are all about impressing, and designer labor whores, would use this stupidity, would pull it out to give to an escort/prostitute.

All these cards should have "trying to hard" printed on the back of them.

These were for a middle eastern oil family.

Not surprising.

Class can not be bought.

Inheritors and royalty do nothing that is deserving of respect- they attempt to compensate with material goods. Opulance is their substitute for self-esteem.

I don't see why a celeb would even inquire about these. Celebs already have recognition, so you don't need a card. It's just their impulse to have something exclusive and expensive. Titans of business and industry already have recognition, so they don't need a card either, let alone one studded with diamonds.

This is what I have. Cards with just my name on them, nothing else. And I rarely hand one of them out. It's a cool touch.

This thread needs a little American Psycho

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?
