Really interesting article.
On a side note, Mac Danzig is one of my heroes. MMA fighter and strict vegan.

I've been vegan off/on for the past 3 years and love the diet (assuming it's done right).
http://www.sunwarrior.com/ might be of interest to some of you. They sell vegan protein powder and other supplement stuff.

i had a friend back in the day who was a vegan/straight edge body builder, big guy but he said it was kind of hard to stay extremely cut due to the extreme amounts of carbs you have to eat to get sufficient protein (even with shakes).

Its interesting, but from a powerlifting perspective they're probably fighting up hill much more then someone who does eat meat and animal products. I will say that I lost a bit of respect when it said this guy thats a fitness nut and a vegan actually went for a spray tan.

Yeah one can stay healthy and still eat meats. Red meat contains creatine, eggs contain an optimal combination of proteins for building muscle, fish has omega 3's. As long as one doesn't overdo eating meat, I don't see why it is so important to become a vegan unless it's for moral reasons.

That must be fun when they try to cut and every meal they eat causes an insulin spike. I'll stick to my herring, thank you very much.

Its possible but its expensive you really have to rely on supplements to get that extra protein, B12, and creatine that meat would provide. My buddy is vegan and lifts but had to go back onto fish because it was to hard for him to get protein in. To be a true vegan and lift at a high level you would literally have to eat veg all day long like a damn koala bear.

Look into Hemp me and my Vegan buddy experimented with it, him more hardcore than me. It works it has a lower protien profile than most other powders/foods but the less you take in is way more effective. My buddy was getting gains on simply using Hemp as a post-workout supplement.

Vegetarian. Beat a competitor who was said to be more bigger, stronger & popular.

Some of the strongest animals on the planet are vegetarians and dont have high protein diets:
- gorillas, rhinos, elephants, chimpanzees (very strong for their size from some stuff I've read)

The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.

John Berandi, one of the smartest nutrition guys, did an experiment where he went veggie for a month a few years ago, here's the write up:
