Even Ad-Rock was down with Coconut Oil back in the day:

"You slip, you slack; you clock me, and you lack
While I'm reading "On The Road" by my man, Jack Kerouac
Poetry in motion, coconut lotion
Had to diss the girl because she got too emotional
Are you experienced, little girl?
I want to know what goes on in your little girl world
Cause I'm on your mind, it's hard to forget me
I'll take your pride for a ride if you let me
So peace out, y'all, a PCP song out
Full throttle to the bottle and full, full clout
And I'm out"

Some real good Game in that verse too.

G, how many times a week would you suggest putting it in your hair?

Do you guys apply it to your hair as a liquid or when its more solid? At room temp it's kind of like butter, easier to handle like a gel, but maybe as a liquid it can soak into the hair more effectively?

Any thoughts?

I scoop a small amount out with my finger, like it's butter, but then rub it between my hands and it turns to liquid, then rub it on my face, hair, etc. It gets greasy fast if you use too much at once.

I apply coconut oil to my hair and beard. Since my hair is pretty long it's somewhat less than a tablespoon of coconut oil that I comb in wet, then leave it to sit in for about two hours. Then you have to rinse out some of it, since it gets everywhere.

For beards, my beard usually looks scraggly and shitty but the coconut oil seems to relax it a bit and give a healthy sheen, so now it looks and feels like actual hair instead of pubes. The sun and heat fries the shit out of my hair and no conditioner I've bought has resolved this completely. Definitely worth the ten bucks for a pint of it.

Are any of you using this as a face moisturiser?

My only issue is that its an oil and although my knowledge might be faulty, I have a feeling oils clog pores and can cause acne breakouts.

My derm has always suggested I use non-comedogenic moisturisers, and that means oil free.

Yeah I like putting it on, especially after shaving (for the times you're shaving at night before bed)

Keep in mind using terms like "oil free" is similar to "saturated fat" or "fat free" in the sense that they are very big generalizations

Coconut oil is full of healthy fats and has been used by many cultures for hundreds of years on skin, including different facial variations.

You don't need to put on much either

And a tip in terms of the acne (regardless of how old you are):

Go Paleo

Start with cutting down gluten/grains/starches and dairy over the course of a month, while using the coconut oil, and adding supplements like fish oil

You'll feel a lot better and your skin will start to show it after that time period, and most importantly, you'll be able to MAINTAIN clear skin without constantly buying diff. chemically manufactured cosmetic products

Coconut oil is Anti-fugal and Anti-bacterial. Its a combination of bacteria via the dirt that leads to inflamed pores aka acne.

Just use a little bit. Not much is needed, just a drop.

Do any of you guys have experience using Coconut oil as sun screen?

I have heard it can be quite effective but I'm dubious about its ability to prevent sunburn.

I've got sensitive Northern European skin...so I always have to apply it in the sun no matter what.

I put it on every time I come in from being out in the sun for extended periods of time.

I can be super red that night but by morning I have a tan

I don't was it off either. I sleep with it on my face

I put it in my hair every night before I go out.

Real smooth.

I also now put it on my face for an hour or two once a week.

I also brush my teeth with it after I use baking soda and peroxide.

G, what benefits have you found from using coconut oil to brush?

My uses for coconut oil have been for my hair every now and then, and to cook eggs. I'm satisfied with it and I only paid 10 bucks for a jar that has lasted me several months.

I like to warm up the oil in the jar and then dip my dong into it while I play grand theft auto

Can I get the same health benefits from unsweetened, shredded coconut? Something about the oil puts me off, the texture like Crisco, I think.

Just melt it.

Then it is like any other oil.

Baking soda and peroxide kind of dry your mouth.

Coconut oil re-hydrates and moisturizes your gums/mouth.

Real next level sh*t.

The oil is easy to mask in stuff like oatmeal, stews, sauces, polenta, rice, and you can mix it with butter and put on toast and bagels, etc.

Shredded Coconut is 90% fat. You still get the MCT properties but your body will digest it a lot different vs unprocessed virgin coconut oil.

The fiber content will slow shit down a lot. If you take a look at both links another thing that stands out is this:

I am not sure why the shredded coconut losses/ cant list its inflammation factors, my guess it is via the processing. But the anti-inflammatory properties is what makes coconut oil a superfood. This is extremely important and should not be by-passed for the sake of personal preferences. Just learn to make it work for you.

For shredded coconut though, honestly its not a bad thing to consume. I even forgot how good the shredded stuff is for cooking with rice and eating with granola. It has a good amount of fiber and the sat. fats are good for male health and testosterone building. The oil is elite, but the shredded stuff isn't bad as a means to get more healthy fats and fiber into your diet but it isn't a replacement for the oil.

Cooked some eggs in coconut oil earlier. Been using it occasionally in my hair, and put some on my skin today before going out in the sun. Tone looks better

I created my own hair gel.

My gel is too strong. It makes my hair stiff and does not wash out easily enough.

I now mix 40% gel with 60% coconut oil and the result is a great gel that keeps my hair soft but in place and it washes out much easier.

the only strange thing is when someone sees you bringing a small bottle with white stuff both to the toilet and to the kitchen

anyway, I cooked a bit with this oil and the food was ok

btw, I used it right after shave and I felt my skin burning a bit. Did someone feel that too?

Ps.: the skin was less red in the next morning. In fact, I have some red-spots/scars from my acne (when I was younger), and I realized it improved the "redness" a little bit, but anyway, it is a great product

Have you tried 100% coconut oil?

That is what I use.

Comes right out in the ocean or in the shower.

I used it as lube the other day. Rubbed it all over this girl.

She wanted to use baby oil but I wasn't feeling it.

Coconut oil is anti bacterial anti viral and anti fungal so it's a good std preventer as well.

Or at least that's what I tell myself.

Yes, in the winter time, that works.

But, once the weather warms up, the oil melts and my hair falls down.

I need a little "hold" in my hair.

If I slicked it straight back, I would be okay, but, I sort of crop it up and to the side, so in the spring and summer, I need to mix it.

Haha. Invest in a bottle/can for both uses. But I agree sometimes I will run out but what I do is just take a clean spoon and take a spoonful and take that to the washroom with me. Just try to keep oil (of all types) as fresh and clean as possible, shit goes rancid when you start dunking your fingers in there and shit.

Pro tip:

It degrades plastic so keep that in mind. If your using lube with a rubber on (not sure why.. but some folks do) it will degrade the hell out of your rubber from the friction and make it more prone to tear.

Skin on skin though I can't think of a natural product that would work better.
