All this Columbia talk has me leaning towards checking the place out as my next vacation trip after cancun vacation.

SURPRISE SURPRISE, the gringo groupie girls we were suppoused to come out flaked on us! Well not so much flaked but, after suggesting we go to Andre Carne de Res (the one G suggested, which is of course high end), she informs GOL that she's broke, so he put the run to her and we're having a guys night out.

Sounds like Columbia is expensive 1.8m pesos for a studio? $220 a week for Spanish lessons? Hmm

I guess it depends on your budget, I"m sure I could have found better deals of I shopped around but I found a good school and an apartment in an area that I like, all within my budget, so I"m happy with that. My apartment is actually 1.5m pesos, 3m was a damage deposit.

Went out boozing the other night to Andre Carne de Res DC, it was an awesome place, packed with people. It wasn't "cheap" either, 20K entrance fee, 6k bottles of beer but it was an environment worth paying for, looking forward to checking out the original one which is a little out of the way from where I'm staying.

I took it easy most of the night just chilling and observing, but GOL had to beat the women off him with a stick! This guy was approaching like an animal, got rejected and cockblocked a few times but that didn't faze him, as the night wore on, this guy didn't leave the dance floor! After we left the club, random women were coming up to him and giving him their digits! Must be nice to be 6'4 fair haired and blue eyed!

I set up a date from CC today, hopefully she don't flake!

How about some props on giving you the butter nightclub lead for Bogota?

Sh*t, you ask for tips, and I give you the pinnacle of information after my one month trip, it is exactly how I said it is, you were in the place to be, according to you "it was an awesome place, packed with people" it seemed to work out for you, and not even a thank you?

When I go to a place I have never been, its like pulling teeth on here to get one nightclub name sometimes.

And I serve this one up to you on a silver platter?

There are some ungrateful bastards on here.

Ha.

G, props to you for suggesting Andres Carne de Res, +1 much appreciated and please excuse the delay in acknowledging that stellar advice!

Mixx, unfortunately no Rola pussy pics as of yet, I know this isn't what you want to hear.

I wouldn't say that I"m having a hard time, but I haven't been putting as much effort into gaming Colombian women as I could have. I"ll quote a spot-on line from Roosh's Bang Colombia book that best describes my situation:

"Be careful if you're fortunate enough to stay in Colombia for a month or longer. When you're aware of having so much time, you don't hit the ground running and can actually have less success than if you only had a couple of weeks.....longer is not necessarily better if it causes you to slack off in the process"

This basically sums me up right now, I'm taking it slow, going to school and trying to focus on learning Spanish and doing some interesting activities that don't involve being drunk in bars.

I'm also adjusting to Bogota and Colombian culture, of course each person will adjust differently, I'd say, that overall, I'm doing alright.

The flakiness of Colombian women is for real, don't underestimate it! Two from CC were no shows, I did meet up with one missus but I wasn't feeling her, she had 2 kids, wasn't all that attractive, etc.

My Spanish is coming along quite well, now I just have to get out there and do some more approaches, for those who have moved to a foreign country and didn't have great language skills, I"m sure you know what I"m saying, its hard!

Anyway, thanks for all the help guys. I'm in Bogota until early February, not sure exactly where next but I wouldn't mind hitting up the Barranquilla Carnaval, I'm also curious about Amazon boat tours, a German guy in my class is doing it; one week on a boat and camping in the amazon!

Ok so it took me 16 days to do it, but I finally got my Rola skin tonight.

I met her on CC, theres some decent talent on there but it takes time and patience (because of flaking) to snag them. This was my second of 3 dates I had lined up this week, getting dates isn't too hard, but.....

Honestly guys, its hard without Spanish, mine is decent, I can communicate simple phrases and carry on basic conversations, this isn't the place to come for a week or two to fuck if you don't speak any Spanish!

It took me a couple of weeks to adjust to the city, culture ( don't underestimate this if you've never been to Latin America like me), etc. The first week I was with another forum member, Gameoflife and we went out together a few times. He was in Bogota for 10 days and went out pretty much every night, he's the kind of gringo that every colombian man HATES and every Colombian woman LOVES (6'4, athletic, blue eyes, fair hair), we'd walk into clubs and restos and all eyes would be on HIM, even the queers were hitting on him non stop, LOL....I'll let GOL tell you guys how well he did as a good looking gringo with no Spanish in Bogota!

I'm glad that I"m in Colombia for a few months, so far its been really cool, Bogota is an AWESOME city and I will bust out some data sheets on specific neighbourhoods when I leave at the end of the month.

One more thing, from what I can tell, Colombia isn't a place where some busted dude from a buttfuck town in NA can come to tag hot women, Bogota anyway. People here dress very well and are stylish, they're probably cooler than you are, unless you grew up in a major NA city or your name is Mixx or G lol.

When this chica came to my apartment, we drank and danced, she played videos on youtube and I made a point to write down each song she put on; here's what the chicas ion Bogota are listening to boys:

Me gustas tu: J Balvin

Sin Compromiso: J Blavin

Don Omar: Dutty Love

Fuego: Una vaina Loca

awesome. I am so looking forward to Montreal this summer and having success like you have in Bogota.

BTW, is there a "Montreal Cupid" to pipeline girls that is strictly MOntreal? Or is online pipelining NOT necessary to got to Montreal for 2 months?

Flying to Bogota tomorrow, any pointers?

Scotian,

I'll be in Bogotá for at least a few nights next month. A few questions:

1) What neighborhood should I target for a mid-range hotel? My Spanish isn't great, so I'd like the opportunity to game the turista sets as much as the locals. Candelaria? One of the "Zonas"? It be nice if it were a walk-able hood and I didn't have to taxi all the time. I prefer livelier neighborhoods to sleepers as well.

2) Have you been rolling out at night dolo at all? What has your experience been?

3) Have you done any daygame, and if so, how has it been? (It sounds to me like we might be at the same level, spanish-wise).

4) Can you expand a bit more on what the proper going out attire is?

Thanks much.

Mixx, I'm sure you'll have no problem with the ladies in Montreal, 2 months in the summer will be awesome! I'm not too sure about on-line sites, POF doesn't seem to yield much, mostly Anglo chicks and you don't want to be fucking with square heads in mtl, go for the Franco Quebecois pussy! One site that was really popular with people in Quebec when I lived there a few years ago was http://www.doyoulookgood.com it still exists, its in french but you can switch to English (upper right hand corner). Check it out, if you need help writing a profile "en francais" let me know!

PDX, to answer your questions:

1) Candelaria is a very cool area, I've only been there twice so don't know it too well, but from what I saw it nice; interesting architecture (its the oldest part of the city), great bars, pubs and restaurants, etc. Very walkable, everything you need is close and theres lots of people about. You should be able to find cheap accommodations easily, however, this area can be a bit dodgy at night and even the day. A friend from school had his camera jacked by a thug during the day on a back street, from what I've read online, this sort of things happens quite a bit.

I personally don't like the Zone Rosa and Parque 93 areas much, they are a bit too posh for my liking but I went to both areas for some drinks and grub and they are quite nice, with North American prices. There are some REALLY nice bars and restos in these areas, Zona Tee gets very packed on weekend nights. This is actually a good spot for Gringos with limited Spanish to hang out, you'll meet lots of Colombians who speak English here, GOL really liked this area and did alright there with the ladies.

I'm staying in an area called Chapinero, its pretty cool. Its between Candelaria and Zona Rosa, I like it a lot, tons of decent little bars and pubs and theres a lot of young uni students in the area. It also happens to be the LGBT area of Bogota, so that may put some people off.

I suggest staying in an apartment like I am, some hotels don't allow guests after 22:00, as GOL found out! PM me if you want to stay in the place I'm in, its $55 USD/night or around $750/month ($150DD). Props again to Mixx for suggesting the website where I found the place.

2) I haven't gone out alone at night, just out a couple of times with GOL and some guys from school. All the stuff they say on here and in Roosh's book "Bang Colombia" is 100% true, its tough to pick up from bars, theres lots of cockblocking but, especially if your Spanish is decent, you can get #'s and set up dates easily.

3) I haven't done any day game yet but I'm getting there with the Spanish so, I'll be trying that soon enough. I've been relying solely on pipelining via internet (Colombian Cupid, Tagged) it was frustrating at first due to flaking but I've have had a couple dates so far and its been good. My game level is intermediate, nothing special but I can pull, Colombian girls are sweet but not very slutty like home, they take work! The one I did bang lived in the UK fro 3 years so she spoke English very well.

4) People dress very smart here, way better than me, that is something I have to improve on and I look forward to doing so. I'm gonna be getting some custom made threads here in the next week or so, there TONNES of tailors in the city, even one that makes custom bullet proof suits:

http://miguelcaballero.com/cms/front_content.php

As far as how they dress, well its cool here temperature-wise about 15-20 (nice and warm for me, I wear tee shirts!), so people are wearing sweaters, light coats, scarfs, etc. I don't know how to describe the styles, a bit bohemian (a bit hipster-ish but nothing to wack like in NA), solid colours, some of the pics posted in the recent fashion related threads on this forum seem about right. You won't go wrong by dressing up, trust me, especially in Zona Rosa, people dress to impress and wear expensive clothing.

I'd suggest even bringing an empty suit case and shopping here; Bogota made leather dress shoes for $30-50, FINE custom suits for $250-400, custom made jeans, dress shirts for $25-40, etc.

Hope that answers your questions!

Hey I'm also in Bogota right now studying Spanish while staying in La Candelaria, and I can confirm just about everything you've said about the women. Haven't had problems with cockblockers thus far. And yes, you gotta dress well in this city because many men have good style...especially in the Zona T/Andino area.

I've likewise had some success on CC but I've also gotten jerked around with girls postponing dates indefinitely. The pool of talent on CC available to me I would say is in the 5-7 range for what it's worth but you absolutely need to have an intermediate level of Spanish. In general, the rolas are definitely not easy but it's vale la pena since I find them pleasant and I enjoy letting the tension build.

When I roll solo, I go to Candelario, a nice little club here in the Candelaria on Kra 5 con Cal 12b. My game is to wait for eye contact, dance, flirt, share drinks, and bring the girl outside in order to have some quiet and privacy where I start to escalate. In fact, I plan to go to Candelario tomorrow night so pm if you want to check it out. I definitely want to check out Chapinero at some point so I'll be looking forward to those updates you may have.

Buena suerte.

Definitely true. If your Spanish isn't solid, I wouldn't roll there without someone who does. Too many stories of mugging. Even so, don't carry more then the minimum amount of cash you need

I personally don't like the Zone Rosa and Parque 93 areas much, they are a bit too posh for my liking but I went to both areas for some drinks and grub and they are quite nice, with North American prices. All true again. Irish bar (literally the name) usually has Americans there and Colombian English speakers. If a Colombian tells you they speak a little English, they're pribably decent.

I'm staying in an area called Chapinero, its pretty cool. Its between Candelaria and Zona Rosa, I like it a lot, tons of decent little bars and pubs and theres a lot of young uni students in the area. It also happens to be the LGBT area of Bogota, so that may put some people off.

That's a little steep for most anywhere in bogota, especially chapinero. You need a Colombian contact or American living here extendedly. I'm looking to get out of my nice place in Mazuren, calle 150 for 450/month without utilities.

2) I haven't gone out alone at night, just out a couple of times with GOL and some guys from school. Bogota update.

Was there last week. My first time there for 4 years so what's changed?

The only decent pickup bar that I knew of in Candalaria - Escobar Rosas - is sadly closed. More accurately it is now just a branch of Bogota Beer Company.

My advice, don't stay in Candalaria, stay in Zona Rosa.

North House Hostel is (Cra 18 #80-66) is the place to stay (for $10 a night for a dorm). Not only is this place right by the nightlife area and you can upgrade to private rooms here to bring a girl back but the street that this place is on has several uni buildings. Literally when you walk out the door in the door in the morning you are surrounded but tons of students hanging out on the street if daygame is your thing.

That street has a bunch of places to eat (several pizzas places, a comida rapida place, dunkin donuts) as well as several internet cafes so the students are always hanging out there.

Tip : I noticed that North House Hostel never seemed to show at availability on hostelworld or hostelbookers but when I just turned up at the door they had lots of space. Better just to phone them and ask.

What else? Oh yeah the legendary restaurant Andres Carne De Res has opened up a branch in Zona Rosa. If you don't know about this place, you used to have to drive 45 mins out of town just to get there (no public transport) but locals and tourists still flocked there. Its raved about as pretty much the best restaurant in Bogota and it's also known as a place to party.

Video here, funny how the presenter dude is hitting on the girls :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAVdhVrXA4k

If you want to avoid the party and just eat, do what I did and go on a sunday afternoon. It was still packed but they don't "rumba" at that time. I had the fillet mignon. It was delicious.

The new branch is zona rosa is on the same street as hard rock cafe (82nd) and its huuuuuuge. Spread over 5 floors from ground level (infierno) to 5th floor (Cielo). Its 2 blocks from north house hostel.

What else? Oh yeah tech tip if you need any tech equipment like a new laptop the tech zone of town is in that area too. Go to corner of 15th and 77. There are several malls with only tech shops in them and the surrounding streets are full of tech shops so the competition keeps the prices down. Proably the best place in all of colombia for your tech needs.

I had a hard drive fail on my laptop and the shops there were a life saver. Bought a new 1TB drive for my laptop for $95.

Will be in Bogota Jan 11 for 10 days. Can anyone provide an update on which neighborhoods to stay in? Sounds like it is a choice between Candelaria(Old City), Zona Rosa(Gringoville), Chapinero(Gay & Hipster). I am looking to spend 50-70 a night for an AirBnb apartment. I was planning to spend perhaps a week in bogota and head out to Pereira/Manziales for 2 or 3 days. I am kind of intrigued with this old school charming apartment:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1404025

But my instinct tells me I should pay up for modern/sheek. I have read all the posts but a lot of stuff is 2+ years old, so any updated info is appreciated. Haven't heard a ton of AirBnB experiences out of Bogota and this will be my first time using it.

If anyone can manipulate google maps to breakdown the neighborhoods, that would be great.

I'll be in Bogota in three weeks and likely staying in Chapinero, although I'm only gonna be there for a week or so before moving onto another city, I'll be in Colombia when you're there so keep me posted. The place I'm staying at in Chapinero is in your price range, it was 100K Pesos per night last year.

I wouldn't suggest La Candelaria as a place to stay, its nice to visit in the day and there are some cool spots to hang out at night, but after dark it can be a sketchy. I recommend Chapinero because its full of students, relatively safe (west of Avenida Caracas, around septima) and is basically half way between la Candelaria and the Parque 93 and Zona Rosa areas. The rich areas in the north are a bit too clean and upscale for my liking but centro and la Candelaria are way too ghetto for me, Chapinero is a a good mix of the two. I think it was Cloin from Expat Chronicles, who used to live in Chapinero who described it as a buffer zone between the two.

Unfortunately the barber shop closed so I don't know where all those deported guys hang out now to smoke weed now but I"m in touch with a couple of them, if you want to hang out with them and have them take you to Sante Fe (AKA crazy town), I'll link you guys up, you just have to buy them some beers, well worth it.

Scotian...Are your buddies from the barbershop still going strong?

Sounds great, will PM if as it gets closer and yeah I am interested in a night of crazy town for sure.

Flying to Bogota tomorrow, any pointers?

Just spent ten days in Bogota and figured I'd report on some findings, so here it is: I wasn't planning on staying in the city too long, I was thinking four days or so before moving on but after I checked into my apartment, I hit the streets and saw a poster for an upcoming concert of one of my favorite reggae artists Alpha Blondy which took place over a week later, so I stuck around.

I landed in Bogota on a Friday afternoon and the weekend was a bit of a write off as I had just worked six weeks straight in an industrial shit hole and all I wanted to do was sleep and take it easy. I still went out and ended up chilling with my barber buddies on Friday, got really stoned with them and we polished off the bottle of Crown Royal whisky I bought at the duty free in Toronto, good times catching up with old friends. On Saturday night I met up with RVF member Portofmanteau at a dive bar in Chapinero, he had two cute girls with him and we went to another nice little spot in Chapinero to dance, nothing too crazy happened (there's tons of these chill little places in Chapinero). I ended up hanging out with Portofmanteau a few times and he is a great guy to meet up with, if you have the chance, do so as he is multilingual, good with women and a great dancer. Here's a run down of the places we hit up:

La Candelaria: We went on a Monday night and it was kind of dead, we hit up this French run restaurant called "A Seis Manos", its a nice spot to grab some food and they have some language exchange nights there and other activities, may be a decent spot on other nights but it was quite. We also hit up the Bogota Beer Company for a few pints, nothing too exciting. I'm not a huge fan of La Candelaria, definitely cool to check out in the day (museums, art galleries, history, etc) but not my scene at night.

Zona Rosa:

I wrote about this place called La Villa before on RVF as I used to hit it up for their weekly event called Gringo Tuesdays and described it as "hit or miss". Well that was almost two years ago when the event was in its infancy and I can assure you that Gringo Tuesdays is a major hit and I highly recommend that you check it out. We went at 8pm but should have gone earlier, although it was still really good, the reason to go earlier is that the language exchange starts at 5pm, so you'll get to speak with more people in a relaxed environment. By 8pm its a packed bar environment, the place was very full and by 10pm the DJ comes on and it turns into a club environment, great place to meet people and the talent has also improved. I wouldn't say there were many stunners there but plenty of nice looking girls and most are very open to meeting foreigners, being Gringo Tuesday and all. From 5-8PM you can get two Heinekens for 10K or two Club Colombias for 8K. Unlike before when the night died down by 11pm, La Villa is still hopping after midnight, I think I left at around 1am and there was still a decent crowd there.

Also, La Villa has salsa lessons night on Thursdays and Portofmanteau and I hit that up as well. I brought along a girl I had dated before to this event and I would recommend doing so as well (especially if you suck at dancing like me) but if you're a good, confident dancer like Portofmanteau then you'll have no worries, there's lots of single girls that go there, most in groups but I met one who was alone. The lessons are free and the drinks are cheap (I was drinking two margaritas for 15K, they were big and good), I ended up getting pretty drunk and stopped dancing after they advanced past beginner. Portofmanteau kept going and the guy did so well that him and a random girl he began dancing with ended up winning the salsa competition they had at the end of the night, he won free lessons for a month!

Tip for La Villa: there's a tall bartender there named Dave, he's from Ireland and if you tip him well on the first drink he will make sure the next ones are very strong.

Friday night we hit up Andres Carne de Res (DC), the one in Zona Rosa. I had been before and thought it was ok, wasn't too keen on going back but Portofmanteau wanted to see it so we went. It was alright but he wasn't impressed, I think at one time he said somethign like "this reminds me of a Colombian version of TGI Fridays, somewhere you go for your birthday" haha, we stuck around for a bit then bounced to another small bar for a bit before calling it a night.

Saturday was my last night in Bogota and I went alone to the Alpha Blondy concert which was conveniently located at a venue in Chapinero Teatro Royal Center. I met a cool Peruvian dude and his Italian girl friend in the line and we smoked a joint, I continued smoking reefers all night and was so completely baked that I couldn't run proper game, I just sang along and ALpha Blondy didn't disappoint, pretty good for a 60 year old dude. Also, there was some serious talent there girl wise, unlike a reggae show in North America, there were some nicely dressed, attractive women there, of course there was some hippies (there's a lot of those in Bogota) but I was impressed nonetheless.

Bangs: Didn't do so well as the first few days I was adjusting to life outside of an industrial shithole, I think only the RVF oilsands guys or anyone else who works for long periods away from civilization can understand, it takes some time to adjust to normal life. On top of that, my Spanish is rusty so I haven't had the confidence to day game, although I got a few numbers at night but didn't follow up as I was leaving anyway. I also got the run around pretty good from some online prospects, the Colombian flakiness strikes again.

So, I did bang this one girl from online, nothing to write home about as she was pretty ghetto, I met her for lunch and she tells me that she's a "tinto girl", basically you see these people everywhere hauling carts of coffee around Bogota and selling them in the street. I'm pretty sure this would qualify for THC's concept of flavela points, I didn't even want to take this skank to my apartment so I suggested we "relax" at an hourly love motel around the corner. She agreed and it turned out that this chick was a freak and a really good lay, she even wanted me to go to a swinger's club with her, but I turned that down. She was 22, morena and tiny, maybe 100 lbs.

Hooked up with an ex-gf I dated in Bogota last time I stayed there, she's pretty cool, a cute girl who's always down to meet up everytime I'm in Bogota, loves to dance and is super easy to get along with. Went out twice and banged her a bunch of times, always look forward to seeing her in Bogota.

So I've been in Medellin for over a day now, am apartment hunting and will stay here for at least two months, looking forward to settling in and getting a routine on the go. Already banged a girl from online, nothing too hot but its a lot better than I did last time here, hopefully its a sign of things to come!

Scotian, is Andres Carne de Res and Salto del Angel still open?

I am sure Andres Carne de Res still is.

Thinking about that place makes me hungry.

I"m not sure if Salto del Angel is or not as I didn't go to Parque 93 at all, but ya I hit up Andres Carne de Res for a few drinks on Friday, I mentioned it above.

Scotian you seem to like Medellin more than Cali. Are you visiting Cali this time? If yes, how long are you looking to stay there?

Pitt, I was actually planning on going to Cali after Bogota for a couple of months but ended up changing my plans. I spent an equal amount of time in both places in previous visits (2 weeks each) but did a lot better with the Calenas than I did with the Paisas, which was the main reason that I wanted to return to Cali. The more that I thought of it though, the more I leaned towards Medellin as I think that its a nicer city, easier to get around, cleaner and I know more people in Medellin. The Paisas may be a bit more difficult than the Calenas but I jus have to up my game and I"m sure I'll do fine. I may still check out Cali for a few days during the upcoming Feria de Cali (Dec.25 til Jan 1st) but for now I'll be in Medellin.

I went there last winter for Gringo Tuesdays. Best opportunity would be to do as Scotian said and go there early to meet some girls. By the time the DJ comes on most of the girls have paired off with with a gringo. I even saw one scrawny white dude dancing with 4 boner passing Colombian girls around him.
Beer is quite expensive there (in terms of Colombia) as I was paying 10K for a luke warm Heineken.
Pretty much repeating what Scotian said now but its a pretty popping place n a Tuesday night.
