Do you mean the competition in clubs? How aggressive the other guys are?
Depends on the venue. Club Balero (mentioned in Ami5's review) has mostly older dudes. They're can't compete. They try to cockblock or out alpha my ass, but it's no biggy. But last weekend we arrived at Balero at 2am and almost every chick at the bar was taken.
In general, guys are dating way up here. The guys at balero club are 30+ and have some have guts.
I've gone to a few alternative things and of course I'm the only one approaching there.

The best way is to schedule is 24 hours in Kiev. Book into hotel or hostel, go to train station and buy your ticket for Kharkov for the following day. Zero English at train station, so prepare a piece a paper with clear instructions. Trains sometime are full, that's why I suggest arriving early.
With this agency we used, they asked for a deposit online, then gave us a confirmation for another much more expensive apartment. No response from them until the day we arrived, but we had booked a hotel as backup plan.
If you intend a short stay, hotels or apartment agencies may be the way to go. If you find an agency in Kharkov, I can go to their office to check how legit they are.

Wednesday night I went to the park where there's bad discos and karaoke. I don't go in these clubs as they're small, noisy and cock fests. I approach the girls on benches just hanging. Hotel Kharkov is the biggest most well known hotel in the center, locals have told me it's bad, but single bedrooms seem cheap'ish (30 euros). There are many other hotels in the city, but they don't seem hooked to the regular booking sites. What's your budget? And how long? The best street to live near in Kharkov is "Pushkinska".
My flat is perfect for after parties from Panorama. I just can't crack that fucking high end place. I got a view to the top floor of the venue from my pad. What a waste.

Wroclaw and Kharkov are two of my favorite cities. You can't go wrong with either. Never been to Romania.
Even though girls look slightly better in Kharkov, Wroclaw has plenty of high quality girls. Wroclaw has better bars/pubs (like Manana). Kharkov has better nightclubs but they are spaced out (taxis needed). English is spoken more widely in Wroclaw. Easiness of girls is similar in both places. I personally am doing slightly better in Kharkov.
Kharkov is not in Schengen, Wroclaw is.
If you choose Kharkov and I am still here, I can show you around a bit.
Food is better and safer in Wroclaw. Kharkov is cheaper, especially accommodation (need to get help from a local -- do not use the Internet for accommodation in Kharkov). Absolutely. I forgot what the taxi costs from the airport (maybe 70 UAH) -- do not pay more than 100 UAH.
Sim cards are cheap. If you want 3G you need to go with Ukraine Telecom (ask for 3G package). The 3G coverage sucks. If you go with "Life" you can get 2G and talk for free to other members.
Another option is MTC which has good 2G coverage.

On booking.com right now, Tsaritsynskiy Hotel, is the better deal. It's in a really shit neighborhood, but there's a metro. Hotel Kharkov is big and central, but more expensive. I suggest booking for the weekend + 1 or 2 days, then after that maybe you can find something better by going local.

Now here is something important- you don't know Russian plus no buddy = literally, zero opportunity
Use my contact to enter into social circle. Ask her for club or meet up with her friend if she is unavailable herself. She runs Italian speaking club - ask her if there is English speaking clubs (There are many around the city and they are really good for meet ups!) and meet up people.
Although, believe me - in these clubs there is plenty of talent speaking English.
Nonetheless, I must give you some encounters:
1. Radmir - My Turkish buddy goes up, while other good looking buddies just hang around trying to attract. He goes up and builds vibe dancing beside a girl...soon the girl hits it up and joins the flow. He asks her if she speaks English but she doesnt. I killed it in Russia. Ukraine I struggled. I only hooked up with one girl while I was there, and even though she was very cute, she was not one of the many stunners.

Ukraine struck me as a more social-circle oriented country like Argentina. Guys on the board bash Argentina for being hard, but it's not, you just have to fall in with some locals.
If I were to go back to Ukraine, this is what I'd do.
- Plan to be there for at least 2-3 weeks
- Fall in with some locals ASAP
- Meet girls through them
This is what I did in Russia (as well as online) and it worked like a charm. Like you, I get laid pretty easily in almost every country I've been to. Even "hard" countries like Argentina and Spain I've done fine in. But Ukraine was not easy.

Wroclaw and Kharkov are two of my favorite cities. You can't go wrong with either. Never been to Romania.
Even though girls look slightly better in Kharkov, Wroclaw has plenty of high quality girls. Wroclaw has better bars/pubs (like Manana). Kharkov has better nightclubs but they are spaced out (taxis needed). English is spoken more widely in Wroclaw. Easiness of girls is similar in both places. I personally am doing slightly better in Kharkov.
Kharkov is not in Schengen, Wroclaw is.

Food is better and safer in Wroclaw. Kharkov is cheaper, especially accommodation (need to get help from a local -- do not use the Internet for accommodation in Kharkov). I'm renting an apartment for $20 a day in the center of the best area of town (near the Pushkinska metro). This hotel is not a bad one to start with (but you can't bring girls back here)

i went to a couple of night clubs in Wroclaw that seemed reasonably upscale. the nightclubs in Kharkov feel more upscale because the girls get more dressed up (high heels, dresses, etc).
i hear you about the expat thing. that's why I’m trying to sell you on Kharkov : ) Actually I'm going to a party on Friday which is supposed to have expats.
sounds like you are leaning towards Wroclaw, which is not a bad choice. after weighing all the pros and cons of both Wroclaw and Kharkov, it's almost a toss up. Kharkov has the slight edge for me because the girls are slightly easier (for me, not others).

You can fly out to Kharkov or Kiev from Prague or Warsaw. But from Bucharest, you can hit all of the Balkans.. or head to Moldova then Ukraine.

As far as how you'll do picking up girls in Kharkov, I think you'll have to come here to find out. I was talking to a guy from Nigeria and I got the impression he didn't do so well with the girls here. I personally am doing great. I love it. I guess if Ami5 and that Mexican guy did well in Ukraine, so presumably you should too. But you don’t know until you see for yourself.
The whole skinhead thing seems to be greatly exaggerated, but maybe there is some racism. If you take the metro in Kharkov, you might want to make sure you have your passport on you. I see the police checking passports of the African students. They might do the same with you. I do see a few African students and a few guys from the Middle East but very few Indians. Occasionally I'll see a Ukrainian girl with an African guy.
I go to upscale places here in Kharkov because there is no other option. People are trying to be upscale in Kharkov, but really they only make like $250 or less a month so they really aren't so upscale.

The train Kiev to Kharkov is 6 hours I think. It's not too bad a trip.

I went to Panarama once but didn’t stay. This place is upscale. It had a nice vibe. The people eating/drinking there make more than $250 a month. It was busy when I was there. The place is smaller than I imagined. The bar is small, most of the area is dedicated to tables. I don’t remember seeing a dance floor. There are places like Radmir, Plazma, and Bolero which are much bigger. These places have large bars areas that can accommodation lots of standing people.

Nice long term apartments (2-3 months) can be gotten for $20 a day (if you commit to two months) but you need a Russian speaking friend to help you find one in the newspaper classifieds. You can make Russian friends easily at clubs.

Absolutely. I forgot what the taxi costs from the airport (maybe 70 UAH) -- do not pay more than 100 UAH.
Sim cards are cheap. If you want 3G you need to go with Ukraine Telecom (ask for 3G package). The 3G coverage sucks. If you go with "Life" you can get 2G and talk for free to other members.
Another option is MTC which has good 2G coverage.

On booking.com right now, Tsaritsynskiy Hotel, is the better deal. It's in a really shit neighborhood, but there's a metro. Hotel Kharkov is big and central, but more expensive. I suggest booking for the weekend + 1 or 2 days, then after that maybe you can find something better by going local.

Now here is something important- you don't know Russian plus no buddy = literally, zero opportunity
Use my contact to enter into social circle. Ask her for club or meet up with her friend if she is unavailable herself. She runs Italian speaking club - ask her if there is English speaking clubs (There are many around the city and they are really good for meet ups!) and meet up people.
Although, believe me - in these clubs there is plenty of talent speaking English.
Nonetheless, I must give you some encounters:
1. Radmir - My Turkish buddy goes up, while other good looking buddies just hang around trying to attract. He goes up and builds vibe dancing beside a girl...soon the girl hits it up and joins the flow. He asks her if she speaks English but she doesnt. Later on, like 15 minute of full-mode dancing with some good vibe, he asks her to move out and talk.
She speaks somewhat terrible English, but I believe at least 50% of these girls speak English good enough to bang.
2. I...am not good looking compared to those buddies I had. I went along with interns from numerous countries, and I can say I wasn't the finest looking guy over there. But...I had one Ukrainian girl beside me. Other people notice it and that's why I could build the rapport easily.
I have another golden piece for you - Talk. Just fuck everyone and talk. The only problem you should understand is that if a girl is unable to talk, she is usually interested but either is incapable or too much uncomfortable to talk in English. They are not American hoes to just fuck off, given you are not around pros.

I killed it in Russia. Ukraine I struggled. I only hooked up with one girl while I was there, and even though she was very cute, she was not one of the many stunners.
You may be confusing me with X (I think that's his handle) who claimed to lay 6 girls in 3 weeks there. But if you ask me, I read his thread and it smelled of BS, I just didn't say anything publicly. Especially since everyone else who went to Ukraine (including the guys I was with) struck out there as well. He claimed he got his lays from day game, but I had absolutely no luck with street game, and I can speak a little Russian as well. The one girl I got with I met in a club and I lucked out because she spoke fluent English.
From what I can tell, the name of the game is find the English speaker (few and far between) and meet her in a more social-circle-oriented environment. Ukraine struck me as a more social-circle oriented country like Argentina. Guys on the board bash Argentina for being hard, but it's not, you just have to fall in with some locals.
If I were to go back to Ukraine, this is what I'd do.
- Plan to be there for at least 2-3 weeks
- Fall in with some locals ASAP
- Meet girls through them
This is what I did in Russia (as well as online) and it worked like a charm. Like you, I get laid pretty easily in almost every country I've been to. Even "hard" countries like Argentina and Spain I've done fine in. But Ukraine was not easy.

Your enquiry is timely, as I just finished up a few hours of walking and cafe watching with two Palestinian dental students I met last weekend. They've taken me under their wing and are extremely nice people. They are about 25 or so and very Arab looking; one a bit rougher than the other. In a word, these guys appear to be crushing it here - and are having the times of their lives. I don't like Ukraine, or the people. I find them are hard and xenophobic, like the Russkies. Too many stories of giving shit to foreigners, especially if your skin is not white - fuck that. I can only pass along the comments of these guys, who have certainly had to work a bit harder perhaps, but they are getting laid regularly. I'll be happy to mention that I have a friend coming to town and would appreciate a little professional courtesy. If nothing else, they can show you the ropes. I'm headed out tonight (and every night through Monday morning). I'll ask and if they are up with it, I'll get you in contact.
Table service - my man, this place is a few years away from table service. Go in, grab a drink and start hitting on women. I need to be more aggressive as I'm too nice a gentleman here. These guys just go in for the kill - the women are very shy and passive here.

I’m not a fan of the Asians in Uzbekistan. I mostly cared for the Russians. In the clubs, most of the "semi prostitutes" are Uzbeks or mixed. I actually remember one from Moldova and some half-Nigerian half-Russian. Usually around 7s, maybe higher for hotel clubs. The "normal" girls are of higher caliber, strangely enough. And in the high-end clubs, of course you'll find the best, but we got our wallets raped every time ($5-10 per drink or something). The Russian girls I met during the day were even better. It's easy to spot 8-9s, whatever, they're classy and friendly. Another reason why I recommended day game is that the Russians there don't seem to go out that much.
Crime:
Have your papers in order and you'll be fine! Tashkent and Samarkand are safe, I wouldn't even be worried about pick pockets. Women aren't treated very nicely there though, especially the "semi-prostitutes".
Some guys I met in a club there, told me that Kazakhstan is much more liberated, has sluttier girls and better parties.
Uzbekistan is definitely exotic as fuck, In my travels I've never ever been stared at that much, I love it.
Yeah, the locals are conservative, but as I said, there's bad seeds. Girls to fuck and there's girls to marry, that's what one local Uzbek told me. Anyway, I’m not an expert on the region, it was a short trip, but I sure did hustle like crazy when I was there. I think it may be a lot harder to get a longer visa.
