Hoping I could get some feedback/ pointers on what I could do differently next time I am in a situation like this. Looking back it was probably a no-brainer but I'll share what I think I should've done differently after I describe what happened.
I am a college student so I was at the library doing a paper when I took a smoke break and went outside. I'm sitting on a ledge outside when two girls approach me, one asking me if she could bum a cigarette. The one who was asking for a cig was prob a 6 or 7 and the other was a lucid beast who played softball.
I've never been approached by a girl asking for a cig, so I gave her a hard time about it but ended up giving her one. I told her only if she had her own light. She didn't, so I told her to start a fire with flint haha. Ended up giving her a light also.
She was asking me questions like any other college kid would. "where are you from" "what dorm do you stay in" etc. I was being cocky funny and could tell she was in to me, or just being nice because I gave her a cig idk. Maybe should've been more cocky/funny, the conversation was normal for the most part but I threw in teases here and there.
I shouldve gotten her number but the fact that I was surprised by the whole thing and really caught off guard, threw me off. But the thing that makes me think she approached me so she could talk to me is because the eye contact we made before she approached and she said she doesn't normally smoke, and she said she doesn't normally ask people for cigs.
The 7 seemed confident, definitely comfortable with me teasing her a bit. Just wasn't sure if she was being nice because I gave her a cig.
Looking back now I probably should've gotten up and went back inside when I ashed my cig and said" put your number in my phone and maybe we can party sometime" or somethin along those lines. Instead I stayed and chatted until the cig I gave them was done, then we parted ways. Maybe should've been more cocky/funny the conversation was normal for the most part but I threw in teases here and there.
I feel like a dumbass right now haha, shouldve been an easy grab. Especially since they're upperclassmen and I'm a freshie. I want to say the fact that they were older than me intimidated me a bit, and asking for her number in front of her friend would've been wierd but those are petty excuses.
Anyways, any pointers/ advice would be very appreciated, pointing out something I did wrong or could've done better would help loads. Should I have even given her a cigarette to begin with? Also is there anything wrong w/ getting a number while a girl's friend is around? any less likely to get it?
