I'm not trying to get into this discussion, but just want to point out the wrongness of Gariell's bizzarre claim that Indians are somehow "destroying Silicon Valley" - let's look at their contributions: about 7% of Silicon Valley CEOs are Indian, including titans like Vinod Khosla http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinod_Khosla Suhas Patil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suhas_Patil and others who have directly contributed to the infrastructure that you use every time you go online.

Let's see, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indian_Americans - three Nobel prize winners and a throng of top academics and successful entrepreneurs.

Produce a comparable list for Muslim Americans and I might take the argument more seriously.

Caligula again, you don't seem to be aware much about the Indians and the Indian mentality. They have shown time and time again that they can't run societies properly, for them it's all about themselves & themselves only. They have no concept of a real civilized society, for Indians it's only about surviving & having more then the next person, thats it, the Indians of today are not capable of higher civilized thought like the Romans or have enough of it to create things like the Industrial revolution, the Protestant revolution, the information age, space technology, genetics etc unless it involves street money and personal power gratification. None of the richest Indians in America have set up charities, funds, or organizations to help lower to Middle class Americans in any shape or form. India is so great, that every year 1 million of that want to get out of that country. They haven't produced any top-caliber athletes or invented any major thing in almost 1000 years, there hasn't been a recent Indian Nobel prize winner (from India) in more then decades. Here is a list of companies that Indians have ruined and destroyed:

Adaptec - Indian CEO Subramanian Sundaresh fired.
AIG (signed outsourcing deal in 2007 in Europe with Accenture Indian frauds, collapsed in 2009)
AirBus (Qantas plane plunged 650 feet injuring passengers when its computer system written by India disengaged the auto-pilot).
Apple - R&D CLOSED in India in 2006.
Apple - Foreign guest worker caused the disastrous MobileMe product rollout.
Australia's National Australia Bank (Outsourced jobs to India in 2007, nationwide ATM and account failure in late 2010).
Bell Labs (Arun Netravalli took over, closed, turned into a shopping mall)
Boeing Dreamliner ES software (written by HCL, banned by FAA)
Bristol-Myers-Squibb (Trade Secrets and documents stolen in U.S. by Indian national guest worker)
Caymas - Startup run by Indian CEO, French director of dev, Chinese tech lead. Closed after 5 years of sucking VC out of America.
ComAir crew system run by 100% Indian IT workers caused the 12/25/05 U.S. airport shutdown when they used a short int instead of a long int
Dell - call center (closed in India because Premji's conmen don't even know how to use telephones, let alone computers)
Delta call centers (closed in India because Premji's conmen don't even know how to use telephones, let alone computers)
Fannie Mae- Hired large numbers of Indians, had to be bailed out. Indian logic bomb creator found guilty.
GM - Was booming in 2006, signed $300 million outsourcing deal with Wipro that same year, went bankrupt 3 years later
HSBC ATMs (software taken over by Indians, failed in 2006)
Intel Whitefield processor project (cancelled, Indian staff canned)
Lehman (Spectramind software bought by Wipro, ruined, trashed by Indian programmers)
Microsoft - Employs over 35,000 H-1Bs. Stock used to be $100. Today it's lucky to be over $25. Not to mention that Vista thing.
MIT Media Lab Asia (canceled)
PeopleSoft (Taken over by Indians in 2000, collapsed).
Polycom - Former senior executive Sunil Bhalla charged with insider trading.
Qantas - See AirBus above
Quark (Alukah Kamar CEO, fired, lost 60% of its customers to Adobe because Indian-written QuarkExpress 6 was a failure)
Rolls Royce (Sent aircraft engine work to India in 2006, engines delayed for Boeing 787, and failed on at least 2 Quantas planes in 2010, cost Rolls $500m).
Skype (Madhu Yarlagadda fired)
State of Indiana $867 billion FAILED IBM project, IBM being sued
State of Texas failed IBM project.
Sun Micro (Taken over by Indian and Chinese workers in 2001, collapsed, has to be sold off to Oracle).
United - call center (closed in India because they didn't even know how to use telephones, let alone computers)
Virgin Atlantic (software written in India caused cloud IT failure)
World Bank (Indian fraudsters BANNED for 3 years because they stole data).

If you look at the massive immigration by Indians to Malaysia, and parts of south East Asia, the places later turn out to be badly run shitholes, like India. The exact same thing is happening in places such as Australia & the U.K which experienced large scale Indian immigration, money is stolen and companies are torn and destroyed to the ground and the money of said company is stolen by said Indians. The current H1b program in the U.S is being abused by Indians. How exactly is the H1b program being abused? Well it goes like these, Indian enters X company, Indian person enters said X head position, Indian fires off all American workers and instead replaces them with cheap H1b workers from India who work for cheap prices and cannot produce any single goddman thing. Indian person FORCES American workers to TRAIN the H1b workers and then FIRES them. Said company is taken over by large numbers of H1b workers. Company finances and income is taken away by massive number of Indians and the Indian head. Company crashes, Indian files for bankrupty or some shit, and they run off with the funds of the company. This has been going for the last 2 decades with Indians, wherever they go they steal and massively fraud companies/places and turn them into poorly run shitholes, so they can command large dowry's which are their only hope of getting laid. They can't fight wars for the life of them and the idiotic culture can't produce a single thing worth mentioning unless it was 1000 years ago. Silicon Valley was mostly built by white American males, whom were for the most part misfits, geeks, strange ones etc. For the last two decade, corporate America has been, in the name of global labor arbitrage, shoving in cheap foreign labor just to increase the net worth of their own bank accounts. Why do you think India's neighbors and the various Middle Eastern countries look down on these people? Because they have a bad reputation. There are large parts of India that are worse off then the states of sub-saharan Africa, and they can't seem to build something or fix their poverty problems, run international sporting or race track events if their life depended on it. The Indian nobel prize winners that are mentioned are the exception not the norm, there are 10,000x backwards idiotic Indians for every any Indian worth mentioning; plus they are from the upper castes & Americanized, which makes a huge difference.

There is no such thing as "Muslim Americans" define that, if you mean by Iranian Americans, and other Middle immigrants from places like Lebanon, Syria then yes I can name you some of them. From what I've seen they have a much more better track record, production value, and less assimilation problems in the U.S & the West compared to Indians or anyone from the sub-continent. Iranians have the highest academic credentials out there of any group although that may change. They have had none of the problems or stigma's that are routinely associated with Indians, if they do, it's nothing compared to the backwardness of Indians.

There have been 9 Nobel prize winners from India, at least one of which was in the last decade (Venkatraman Ramakrishnan in 2009 for his work in molecular biology, some of whose lectures I had the pleasure to attend in Cambridge).

On the other hand, there have only been 6 Nobel laureates from the whole of the Arab world. Three of those were for "Peace", and given the endless conflict in the Middle East they mean less than nothing.

Only two Nobel prizes have been awarded to people from Iran, one of whom was the British author Doris Lessing who merely had the misfortune of being in Iran when her British mother gave birth to her. The one that went to the Iranian was for Peace (see previous paragraph for exactly what that prize is worth).

Right Dominance and what were the genetic backgrounds of these Indians that won the Nobel prizes? Were they upper cast Hindu's? Do you know how they treat the lower castes or anyone non-Hindu, or someone that is a Muslim in India? Do you know how they alienate minorities or other people they don't consider worthy? Get this image out of your head that Indians are an oppressed, ancient, peaceful, sophisticated, kind people. They are, and I am sure most Indians will admit this, are the most backwards, self-centered, petty, selfish racist xenophobic people you will ever meet, if you do have a chance to become part of any of their upper circles. Please do tell me why most Indians have an obsession with "fair skin", when in places like the Middle East people come in all phenotypes and color yet the majority don't have this idiotic obsession. Compared to a country like China which has lifted a majority of it's citizens out of poverty and third world living status, Indians in India have not built any major infrastructures, invested their capital in any of their county's, and hoarded all the wealth at the expense of the rest of the population. Middle Eastern countries in general despite the constant warfare and Western imperialistic interventions they face on a regular basis, tend to be clean, organized and well-run compared to any state or city in India. Did you know that some of the cleanest and most organized parts of India are run by Iranian parsi's? Hell Iran, supposedly a hostile country, is one of the cleanest & richest countries in the near East and has much more higher living standards then any place in India.

There has been a shitload of news and attacks against Indians elsewhere, I mean obviously the first conclusion is that its racism. But as I have said before the UK & Australia just recently closed all it's doors to Indians, & the U.S soon might follow suit due to abuse of the H1b program, body shops, & cheating American employers. Discounting Europe, I have not heard of any Iranian, Lebanese, Middle Eastern immigrants have the same issues as that of Indians elsewhere.

Gariell is a nutcase, and all he does is comment on race. I read through all his posts on this thread, so many glaring factual inaccuracies. He seems to hate Asians and Indians and love the Middle East.

This is a GAME forum, this is not Stormfront, there really needs to be a strict no racism rule around here.

I wouldn't mind seeing race threads go the way of p4p: being banned altogether. I think it's totally possible to discuss the subject intelligently--even provocatively--but it seems to bring the trolls out of the woodwork and ends up with same, unsatisfying conclusion for everyone. It's so fucking tired as a subject too. The same goes for threads on whether height matters, whether looks matter, and whether something or other is "overrated."

While they are played out here, it is tough to completely exclude discussions on looks/height/etc from game, as those things do count in the chase.

I think that perhaps it could be better to just create a new sub-forum for especially "controversial" debates, and throw all of the race and other divisive topics in there.

A sub-forum would only encourage more race baiting.

It should be restricted to topics that are only directly applicable to game and actually useful (eg. is it safe to be running game if I'm black in Russia? Will being blonde help me pull in Peru?).

The reason race debates get out of hand is that noobs who don't know much game come out of the woodwork with their race fixation. Like the game denier trolls who keep banging their heads against the brick wall of looks/money being everything, we get trolls who think race trumps everything. Like Tuth says there are intelligent discussions to be had around these topics. They just need to be regulated when they start getting out of hand.

Yeah, I got it now - I looked it up and read about the "order of operations."

That said, I hardly think this qualifies as an example of "idiocracy." I don't remember ever learning about this, and I'm sure it's a common mistake. Is the girl a math teacher? Or just a teacher?

I'm not a math person, but I believe a rule called something along the lines of the "associative property" is at play here.

You don't just add/subtract/multiply from left to right. There's an order of operations.

Fuck math.

I second that. There are massive immigration problems in Europe and its mostly because people from Muslim countries will A; not adapt to its countries society
B; forcing their midevil culture on to us.
C; huge crime rates. i never read anything about Asian criminals in newspapers/websites. Why , because they don't have a midevil religion, work hard and try to adapt to their new surrounding including learning the language.

Lame. In America, lots of right wing whites bitch about illegal Mexicans, but I always find it hypocritical since the whole reason you have illegals in America is because poorer uneducated white Americans are lazy and have a ridiculous sense of entitlement. They don't want to pick strawberries ten hours a day for $4 an hour in extreme heat. Mexicans will do that, and actually work extremely hard without bitching left and right.

Islamaphobia in Europe is similar. You have average Europeans who don't really do anything in life bitching about people who are willing to move thousands of miles to start a new life. They are an easy target, but I think people should look in the mirror instead of bitching about immigrants.

And people remember what they learned in 4th or 5th grade because why? My point is that unless someone deals with math on a regular basis, there's no reason for them to remember this.

Using someone else's ignorance to prove what you already believe about the general population is easy. Bottom line, however, is that most people would get this wrong simply because they don't use it on a regular basis, if ever at all.

Not to mention that in mathematical situations the vast majority of people have been in, the parentheses, etc, would have been used to eliminate ambiguity. So their past experience hasn't given them reason to know.

In fact, I'd venture that saying "doesn't know the order of operations" + female + has kids = "females with kids are stupid" is far more ignorant than not knowing/remembering this rule in the first place.

I never said that females with kids are stupid, I just pointed out that of the females in my age range on my facebook friend list, the ones who have kids already aren't the sharpest light bulbs in the rowboat factory.

Also, I'm pretty sure you'd need to be aware of operator precedence to get through high school math. And there's something to be said for wanting to know damn sure that you have the answer right before you post it as a facebook status update.
