Taipei, Taiwan

Flying into Taipei. Will be there 27th-3rd.

Im a young guy who wants to do touristy stuff during the day, and go out every night that I am there. Speak mandarin semi-fluently. Willing to split bottles or just go out and pay cover or what not. PM me if anybody wants to meet up.

Disclaimer- Speak conversational mandarin w/near fluent command of the simple words. 1/2 White 1/2 Asian. Tall. Young.

Hit Myst last night solo. Meet these mad fly girls on the dance floor. We danced/talked/laughed and what do you know?

They gots bottle service. cha-ching!

They take a break and grab me to their table. We walk out of the dancefloor area, down the stairs on the back of the club, down to the patio area w/the view of the city and into a private room w/2 tables and a private bathroom. The room has glass windows from ceiling to floor right on the patio overlooking the city. All of these girls spoke fluent english. Classy hoes, i suppose.. 1 chick was purchase manager for a large international corporation...travels a ton. Another had some kind of business. All of them had stacks on stacks and pretty bling on.

I lock down the dudes at the table. Talk the biz, connections, travel, the good life. (Thanks GManifesto) Spit some russian to get the ladies excited/giggly.

Dance floor, back to the the bottles of vodka and champagne, repeat cycle ad nauseam. Probably about 8-9 girls 2-3 dudes. I end up dancing and rotating between all the single ones. This goes on until 5am, lol god taipei has a late nighlife cap.

Then afterhours at Roxy99. First time there, its kind of dive bar-ish. End up continuing kicking it w/them until close. Walk outside and get hit by the morning sun. Good goodness, freaking sun out. Check my phone its 7am...Try to pull the one i like back, but apparently the other two are staying at her hotel room.

Ahh, the taiwanese pack-mentality. These richer fly girls really dont like leaving friends behind...

My biggest issue so far is that the girls always ask if i live in Taipei. I say im staying here for a bit. She says how long? I say a week. Visible dissapointment. Ehh, can smash 7s and below no problem. 8s and above, they really seem not to want ONS here. I guess they wanna lock down a dude and settle. There is limited "highly conspicuous" "cock-hopping" mentality here.

Some other comic moments of the night. One of the older girls at the table (prolly a 6 in my book), says im getting tired. Where do you live? bwahaha. I just smiled and continued talking to the girl on my other side who was at least a 8.5-9. This probably happened about two more times w/random girls when the ladies would be smoking cigs outside on the patio area. I would guesstimate this was around 3.30am.

DVY is a holding it down in Taipei. I haven't seen a dude in Taipei run it as hard as he does in the club. Also he is fearless when it comes to approaching. We went out Wednesday night to Luxy it was cracking. I saw him pull a cute girl in the first hour. Also he was mingling with a lot of other girls. We went to Babe 18 on Thursday night he opened these girls and I ended up pulling one of them back to my place but no bang. He was running shit at that club too. Didn't get to go out with him last night though. I think we will probably hit the town tomorrow night again.

If you like Taipei, Taichung might be worth checking out. I don't know much about Taichung, but it should be relatively unplundered compared to Taipei, whose nightlife has been under siege for decades now from foreigners and Taiwanese Americans.

I've heard from Taipei girls that the reputation of Taichung girls is that they are hotter and sluttier than their Taipei counterparts. One's exoticness factor as a foreigner will go farther in Taichung than in Taipei.

Or maybe I am biased because the only local girl I've pulled in Taipei who wasn't a Taipei American/European School student/alumnus was from Taichung.

I am in Taipei for the week. On the advice of Tony I went to Club Wax tonight. I got there early (11pm) and it was totally dead. 1 table of girls and about 7 tables of guys. I just pounded down some vodka tonics until 1145. I could not take the boredom anymore and talked to a table of dudes. They were nice guys and told me that Club Wax is always dead on Fridays. Its only good on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I got my moneys worth of drinks and talked to the one cute girl in the bar for as long as I could before some other guys who speak chinese took her away.

After that I went to Luxy at about 130 which was going crazy. Full of hot girls but also full of white guys. Got one makeout and one number which I will call tomorrow but I couldnt stand the shitty club music after 330 so here I am back at my hotel.

Lesson learned is that Taipei clubs/bars are really night specific. You have to know which club to go to on which night or you will end up wasting time and money.

I went to Club wax a long time ago and it was alright on Friday night. That club isn't that good compared to other clubs though. What are you up to tonight? PM if you want to go out.

Tony: Unfortunately I already left Taipei. But I am pretty jealous that you get to live there. It is now my favorite city in Asia. Smoking hot girls, great food, easy to get around and just overall a pleasant place. I can't wait to come back. Next time I roll through I will send you a PM.

On Saturday night I met up with the girl I got the number from in Luxy. We went out in Ximen for a bit. I got her back to my hotel room but she gave me a tremendous amount of LMR. Only got an HJ out of the deal. Bit of a bummer, but I had heard Chinese girls are prude. Do you find this to happen a lot or did I just go for the wrong girl?

Comparison to Thailand?

Bangkok vs. Taipei

Weather: Bangkok is hot all year round. Taipei is hot in the summer, but comfortably chill in the winter (usually).

Food: Thai food is much more heralded, but the diversity and deliciousness of Taiwanese beef noodle alone can be enough to trump the cuisine of entire nations. Taiwanese cuisine is a broad sampling of Chinese, particularly southeast Chinese, cuisine, but with stronger seafood elements.

City per se: Taipei has much better infrastructure; cleaner; safer. Taipei is a first world city; Bangkok is not.

Nightlife: Taipei is much more straightforward. Everyone knows what the hotspots are for foreigners and locals alike. Room18, Spark, Luxy, Myst, Barcode, etc. are the perennial headliners. In Bangkok, however, one has to do their due diligence to figure out where the attractive, but open to foreigner, non-pro local girls are--if such an El Dorado exists.

Pipelining: I haven't attempted it on Thai girls, but they seem to be readily accessible from a litany of social networking sites. I haven't found anything that's good for Taipei specifically; I have tried OKC in the past for middling results.

Quality of Girls: I would give a slight edge to Taiwanese girls. Taipei girls are afflicted by a surprisingly high frequency of bad teeth, but are better otherwise. International school alumni (or even the students) in both Bangkok and Taipei can be pretty slamming (much better than the general population), but that requires social circle or luck just to bump into them, as their relative numbers are small. Easier to bump into international school alumni/students in Taipei, where the nightlife is more penetrable and discernible for a foreigner (as described above), and the international school girls do go to the same places as the commoners.

Ease of Girls: Taipei has a substantially larger population of normal (non-pro or non-semi-pro) girls than Bangkok. You won't be running into pros at all in Taipei. 6s are extremely receptive to night-game, but the 8+ carry around palpable bitch shields. The halcyon days of foreigner cache in Taipei has long passed, due to mass influxes of foreigners and American-born Taiwanese trying to swoop over the years. Perhaps the heyday for foreigner cache has also passed its peak in Bangkok, but it is still very strong--you still have a tremendous number of gringo-hunters and shorable pros (if one is into that).

Communicating with Girls: Higher variance in Bangkok than Taipei. You will have some girls that speak near-fluent conversational English with you in Bangkok (usually lower socioeconomic class and/or pro or semi-pro girls), and then some girls will be unable to converse with you at all during night-game. Almost all Taipei girls will know at least minimal English from school, but you rarely find one that is near-fluent (international school alumni/students being the exception).

Although I only spent a week in BKK and Taipei this seems like a spot on assessment.

Astute observation on Taipei girl's teeth. I noticed quite a few busted grills on broads that otherwise had model faces.

What would you say about cost of living in Taipei? I have no idea how much an apartment costs in a decent location. I assume its more expensive that BKK but how about compared to other cities in East Asia?

I loved Taipei so much I might move there someday.

Definitely concur on it being more expensive than Bangkok.

I would presume cheaper than its equivalent in Hong Kong or Tokyo, just based on general cost of living.

According to Expatistan, with the usual caveats on such measurements, Bangkok is about 11% cheaper than Taipei.

Do you ever see stunners with foreigners, or are they virtually off-limits even with solid game?

Thanks for the feedback! A couple more questions:

Do you think you still get a healthy dose of foreigner-love in the 2nd tier cities? If so, which would offer a solid lifestyle?

Does Mandarin in Taiwan differ much from that of China?

Taiwan, unlike Thailand, has no stigma to be seen with foreigners. I saw tons of hot girls walking around w/foreigners (albeit younger foreigners). Overall, no massive attraction to westerners, but definetly no negative attitudes. Most foreigners come here for business or school, so that may have something to do w/it.

Mandarin is the official chinese language anywhere.

Even in taipei, you can easily live on 1.5k/month. You would live a little farther from the center of action, but can still MRT (or thai BTS equivalent) into the city. Rent is about 200-400. Food is equivalent price w/bangkok or maybe 25-30% more. Drinks are a tad more expensive at high ends (maybe 5 dollars). Taxis are about the same price.

I would rank Taipei a 1st world city leagues above Bangkok. Nightlife ONS is a little bit easier in Thailand because of shoring, but otherwise Taipei for normal girls is just a touch easier. In terms of friendliness, Taiwan is a winner. The Taiwanese are also more educated and worldly than most Thais.

@Kabal- man, I broke this down too. I call it the chinese hi-so hottie pack mentality. 8+ want a dude to settle down, are hesitant to bang first night, and will pick going to eat w/friends over you.

DVY: I have to disagree with you about stunners being with foreigners. However you seem like you have much more experience than I do in Taipei. In the week that I was there I rarely saw top tier girls walking around with foreign guys. But most of these guys looked pretty bad themselves. They were out of shape and had no style. Therefore the girls seemed to match.

One thing I noticed in Taipei is that people have a pretty edgy/cool style. Didn't see anybody suited up but guys don't go out in sloppy t-shirts and baggy jeans. Girls also put on makeup and high heels to walk around the areas like Ximen.

Just my 2 cents.

Ximen, is mostly school-kids during the day, young peeps/tourists at night.

I stayed at Zhongxiao Dunhua...this is prime-prime. Nothing but sexy stunners in every direction. I was only there for a week as well, but lots of spicy looking women there! =).

Yes, the youth is very fashionable (at least the girls). The dudes look kind of nerd-ish....

As for foreign dudes with girls, you dont see pure eye-candy with 50 year old dudes, but I would regularly see a dude in late 30s w/a stunningly attractive mid 20s girl. Its a wash honestly, foreigners have a slight edge because you are taller (more visible) than the competition, but lower language capacity. =P

I wrote about this somewhere else, but here goes. Was walking around Zhongxiao Dunhua looking pretty fresh. Girls would eye-fuck me, and 2 college girls asked to take a picture of me...all of this in a 3 minute walk. Most guys there are dressed pretty terribly imo.

@beyond borders- I would recommend taiwan over china ANYDAY and twice on sunday. Just overall, friendlier towards foreigners. If you get out towards 2nd tier cities, man you can have a great-time for similar prices to chiang mai. Taipei is about the same as Bangkok, maybe 30% more expensive. Smaller cities in Taiwan are about 40-50% cheaper than Taipei.

Best part, everything connects by HSR (High speed rail) from North to South. Traveling at 200 miles/hr is great!

@loveless- I loved taipei too. I had similar thoughts of moving there. Those plans will have to shelved for a while (at least 5 years). Rent is not expensive. TonySnow25 told he pays 200/month. Ive heard for places starting around 300, going up to a 1,000 (pretty high-end). Mid-range in taipei is about 400ish.

I do believe I've just been sold on what I suspected for a while. That Taiwan is the largely-overlooked gem of Southeast Asia, by the sound of it.

After I make the rounds visiting people in Thailand, and maybe posting up in Bangkok for a little while, I'm leaning strongly towards a long stint in Taiwan.

make sure you check the weather forecast prior. Taiwan can have a rainy season in which you are basically stuck indoors. Certain seasons are terrible for Taiwan. Double-check prior to booking.

Not sure if that was directed at me...

Anyhow, rain doesn't bother me, especially for long-term. If long-term you're going to experience all seasons, right?

And can't the rain be any worse than rainy season in Thailand? Or is it?

Not to mention it'll be a while before I go. Have people to see in the Land of Smiles first.
