I have NEVER lost a notch because I don't do social media.

The younger they are, the more surprised they are when I make it clear I don't, but I also make it clear that I don't do what everybody else does I do me. Not just regarding social media but in everything.

This is a plus.

Where IG fits into my game is predominantly as an alternative to # closing.

Seeing a girl on IG I met IRL through game efforts that I am trying to get out again helps motivate me to get her out again. It's a visual cue for me.

Additionally, when I get a girl off Tinder, I ask for the IG instead of the #. I do it as a screening technique to see if the girl matches up aesthetically to the image she has portrayed herself on Tinder. Most of the time she loses some of her appeal. Helps prevent pedastalizing.

Conversely, I do think my IG has actually cost me a few Tinder leads. Women who were responsive on Tinder but once we take it to IG and they follow me, they are less impressed. Oh well - those are more than likely the Tinder dates that would have been more of an uphill battle.

I agree on Instagram being helpful, but more so for your mental health sake than for impressing a chick.

I think for some girls they are uncertain of the value you deliver, stalking your ig for 5 minutes is an easy way out to see if you're ''cool''

I do agree with OP that it is necessary to get the highest quality 18-22. But participating in this high dopamine environment doesn't seem too good for your brain

Notches and numbers aren't everything bro. It's only a per-requisite to get to the second chapter of game and the second chapter of figuring out who you are and what you are worth. None of us have things figured out, the world is cruel, people are broken, and we lose the ones we love the most to death and suffering but molding who you really are in order to be accepted by others is not the way to live a happy life. The only way to do that is to design a life around the things that make you happy and writing your own script. The moment you begin to see instagram as a necessity and a permanent thing revolving around likes and false impressions in order to get laid, is the moment your life will become lifeless.

In the long game...I'm more like the guy who just walks into a cafe in your example...in the short term...I'm all in on IG for 18-24 months.

I truly hope that social media will run its course and people will see how stupid it is to be "on" all the time or to assume that if someone doesn't post something online, it never happened.

I'd love to think that girls can trust their own instincts...

Try IG, try 100% offline, try a mix.

the social media question is a dangerous one in the manosphere, it should come with a warning label. Allow me to piss into the wind and say that if you're straight male under the age of 25 you don't have a fucking choice and you need to be on social media. That doesn't mean you need to rent lambos to show off or spend 10 hours a day whiteknighting random whales, you just need to have an account and post a picture of whatever you want every now and then.

Girls aren't going to expect you to have 10,000 followers but the response from my sisters and female friends who have their pick of guys has been along the lines of "uhh, i've never had a guy without an ig try to get with me", "wait why doesn't he have one, was he banned or is he an old guy or something", and "ahahahaha next". Maybe its different in other countries, if you know of at least 2 "naturals" (not from the pua/redpill community) who do great in the dating game without IG then you can go ahead and join them but at least in the US its not an option and you're either living in some rural area where everyone knows everyone, severely socially inexperienced, or delusional if you think otherwise.

I know the older guys will disagree with me on social media, but they'll probably agree that society is rapidly moving away from being open and welcoming to new people and moving towards rigid and closed off cliques. I mean, I'm far from the oldest guy or best gamer on the forum, but I have honestly never had a girl I banged or was involved with ask me about my Instagram besides one ex who actually wanted to get my profile more active back when it wasn't as popular. I understand IG might be the next wave for some guys to try and hook girls, but I really haven't seen a point where I needed social media to close a girl, and I'm pretty young. I have a rule about not giving it out til after bangs with certain girls, and usually a phone number for texting or a texting app suffices for me.

I will agree Instagram is changing global culture though, but I notice this more in travel in general than with women. If you keep an eye on regular tourism, you'll see what I mean when Instagram can ruin some great travel moments with people pausing in real life to take pose shots. In fact, I made a thread on it.
