Russia, Ukraine, Belarus... these countries are not wealthy and a lot of these girls invest a lot of money and time into their appereance.

I'm talking here about regular girls - students, waitresses, office workers, not necessarily the instagram thots that fly to Dubai.

I've talked to Russian devs about this and what they say is that if the girl spends money, time and energy to look good on a date, the guy should take this as a compliment and pay for both (some even argue that he should pay for a cab to pick her up). After all it's the guy that suggested to meet up.

Now, where do you draw the line then, you might be asking?

This is where some guys might disagree.

IMO, for the first few dates it's better to keep things cheap and low-key. You are just getting to know each other and that's what it's all about. If you try to come across as a baller and impress her with your money then there's a good chance that some girls will try to take you for a ride (not saying you won't get the bang though).

This is why you should ALWAYS choose the venue and only make exceptions if a girl suggests a place that is definitely not expensive e.g. some student bar that you know of. You'd be surprised how chill some girls are about just going for a walk or a simple coffee date - even girls with 1000s of IG followers who'd usually give a gold digger vibe.

At the end of the day, if you're stressing over a 10-20$ bill then you probably have bigger problems to begin with.

Not to mention that in these countries the man is meant to be the bread winner.

If you act cheap and refuse to pay you'll come across as childish and will probably turn off genuine girls that are relationship-oriented and want a guy that could provide for a family.

Now for the guys that are worried about scammers - learn Russian (and I mean fluently, not just some tourist-Russian BS) and most importantly have some basic common sense and there you go - there's a 99% chance now that you'll never be scammed.
