A court order is great and all but collecting on it is an entirely different story.

They were a couple. She lived with him.

He gave her $180,000 Euros to invest for him. She signed the emails as though she was a Capital Investments Manager for Citibank. He expressed concern over giving her such a large amount of money to invest on his behalf but she via email according to the article convinces him not to worry about it.

Seems pretty standard that he'd get judgment for those monies. It's obviously fraud.

You wouldn't believe how many experienced business people get taking for a ride on scams / frauds. A lot of them are extremely convincing. I did several law suits related to fraud and it wasn't shocking to me that people losts 10's and 100's of thousands of dollars to schemes of such a nature.

A friend of mine lost upwards of half a million to a scam.

The only thing notable about the story is that this was a woman whom committed it on a man she lived with.

Regarding her already being married the article mentions her being from Belarus and how she was married 2 weeks before getting involved with this man. I think a simple explanation to that would be that she married in order to move to the UK. (I.e. a marriage of convenience)

Some schemes are very sophisticated and an attractive woman can fool you into thinking that she's sincere, take advantage of your hard wiring to pursue and have purpose. People are fooled everyday by fake news, even successful businessmen.
