Travel destinations for 2 weeks on 2 weeks off

Hey there! Title says it all - looking for some good travel destinations for a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off schedule.

I have a high income fly in fly out job and am based in Vancouver.

What are some reasonable destinations to hit for two weeks at a time that won't have me eating my time in transit flying from Vancouver.

You can fly to Mexican beach destinations direct in about 5-6 hours from Vancouver and it’s relatively cheap, about $600-800 CDN. I flew from Van to Cancun on Airtransat once, Sunwing is another option there and to Los Cabos and Puerta Vallarta. Other Caribbean spotslike the DR, Cuba and Jamaica are an option and some of these flights are available all year but of course, they’re more winter destinations.

Being on the west coast you’re kinda screwed for cheap, direct flights in the Americas and Europe, I’m Edmonton based and it’s always a long haul for me to Colombia from Edmonton, usually 15 hours via Toronto. Asia is an option but it’s still a long flight and you’d be dealing with some jet lag issues.

Are by any chance working on that LNG job up north?

Some of the lads I work with on my 2/2 rotation live part time in either Arizona or Mexico. One fella flys back to china on his time off and another to Cuba. For me personally it will be Cabo San Lucas once the project I'm on and company transitions it from construction to maintenance. I found a well known realtor down there named Nick Fong, so I'll be looking at a gated community where I could possibly work out a deal of having a tenant in there in the summer months and still live in Canada.
If I was still young I'd pretty much travel the world on my time off with a 2/2 shift. The world is your fucking oyster at this point my man!

Asia is very accessible. It'll take 10 hours or so to Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai etc
Also SE asia trips are easy to do once you're here! Thailand, Vietnam, PI, Bali etc

I thought of sampling a few different countries to begin with.

I love Europe but its such a pain in the ass to get too.

For short travel is sticking to the same time zone a good idea? I've dealt with jet lag in the past but always for longer trips. Dealing with it twice a month might be an issue.

Scotian, you think this is possible with a 2/1 schedule? When I get off day hitch I get 7 days off but when I get off nights I only have 6 [Image: sad.gif]

Mexico would be awesome just for a cheap destination to sleep on a beach and drink cervesas, but I've always assumed it isn't the greatest place to game locals.
