American killed by isolated tribe on North Sentinel Island in Andamans

John Allen Chau, 27, is believed to have paid fishermen to ferry him to North Sentinel Island, home to a 30,000-year-old tribe known to aggressively repel outsiders.

“The fishermen in the dinghies tried to warn him it’s a risky thing,”

He said Chau, who some Christian groups have claimed was a missionary, had been trying to find ways to reach North Sentinel Island and finally succeeded on Saturday, taking a dinghy with the fishermen, then completing the rest of the journey by kayak.

On Wednesday night Chau’s family posted on his Instagram page saying that they forgave his killers and asked that those who helped him be released. The family described him as a “beloved son, brother and uncle” as well as a Christian missionary. “He loved God, life, helping those in need and had nothing but love for the Sentinelese people,” the family said. “We forgive those reportedly responsible for his death.”

Those guys have no genetic immunity to outside diseases, and any exposure has the potential to wipe out the entire tribe, as were many other tribes on the Andaman Islands. I'm sure he was well aware of this and yet he risked the existence of an entire culture for the sake of a misguided calling. Of course the tribesmen have no understanding of this, but they have accumulated enough knowledge to understand that when outsiders come, bad things happen. I can't blame them for wanting to remain isolated. I like the idea that there are still groups of people that live the same way humans have for tens of thousands of years. Even if they only exist at our pleasure, I think they should be left alone.

People like you are the reason why the West finds itself in the sorry state it is right now. No limits, no culture, no morals, no religion, no future - only a misguided ideology that demonstratively has already managed to ruin the lives of 100 of millions of people.

Going there to proselytize wasn't the greatest idea for sure but I don't think this deserves to be judged with Schadenfreude.

I am glad that an untamed wild tribe exists somewhere still in 21st century and the idea that another generic Christian preacher tries to convert them into some more generic altar boy NPCs disgusts me.

In the old times when the term NPC was nonexistant due to non-existance of video games and even computers - they used the term - sheep. What can be more poisonous to soul then to become sheep willingly and to spread this disease like a zombie? Maybe only becoming a suicide bomb NPC.

"I come from the lands that have embraced Christ, our Lord and saviour."

"Cool. How's that working out for you?"

"Uhhhh. We're having some difficulty with those who have strayed from God's way."

"Safe to say then that your faith has either given you such calamity as you face or been powerless to prevent it?"

"I see Spooner got here first."

I saw some news about this and people are calling for "justice." As pointed out it is illegal for anyone to go to the island, so the authorities cannot go and arrest them. But there is another issue here. This tribal island has been set aside for the tribe alone. No one is supposed to go there. No system of justice, whether it be India, or international law, has any jurisdiction (any right) to judge the tribal members.

It appears from the evidence that the tribal members permit no immigration, grant no visitor visas, and enforce their borders on pain of death. It is their island and their law reigns supreme.

No one from the outside world has any business imposing its "justice" on these tribal members who never consented to operate under any system than their own.

Body armour, a helmet and shield spring to mind!

Indian anthropologist Triloknath Pandit made several attempts at peaceful contact. When his frightening vessel approached the territory of the Sentinelese, the crew initially threw fish in order to appease them.

The Sentinelese aimed their arrows by running into the waves when the vessel reached their shore. What manifested on the beach was a murky glimpse of their culture where a female claimed a warrior for her and sat in the sand, ensconced in a passionate embrace.

All the other female members followed suit in the spontaneous beach orgy.

Sources are yet to corroborate whether this act of communal mating was in the heat of the moment or something which the Sentinelese women exercised, calming their men who turned violent and hostile.

Men are not creepy. Do you know what’s creepy? Spiders, because we don’t know how they move.

I respectfully disagree. The West finds itself in decline because it's pretentious like this man, who I do feel some sympathy for along with his family. Believing that people are equal and can be united by ideology, whether that ideology is democracy, Marxism, Christianity, "Progress," "human rights" or equality itself, is and has been proven to be a fool's errand. Nature and biology say Reality is far different than human utopias and wishful thinking. The rise in populism across the world, identity politics exploding in diverse nations and this man's death vaporize any notion that different peoples think the same or want the same things.

Pretty dumb. The sentinelese are pretty interesting in that they are still in a pre-neolithic culture and are highly xenophobic against all outsiders.

That tells you everything you need to know about which degenerated form of Christianity they belong to. Cheap social signalling. The tribesman don't give two shits that you forgave them, you pompous fools.

These Sentinelese fellas seem pretty cool. What if we gave them some modern weapons and a strip of land around the southern border?

All true. And once again it shows us that everyone has a right to defend their sovereign territory from outside intruders, as long as they're not White.

I think instead of going to that remote island he may have focused on Christian territories that are rapidly imploding = Europe and the United States. And he may actually have lived to tell the story. I admire his conviction but unfortunately he was misguided, no doubt due to the social cancer growing in our midst.

Really? Have you ever as much as glanced at a history book? How do you think Christianity grew from the Middle East to across the entire planet? (ironically being almost wiped out where it started) How about Islam? Working pretty well for them I'd say and unless we see a major political shift over the next few years Europe will be Islamic by 2050, perhaps even earlier.

But once again, he was a) White and b) Christian, and as a 2nd class world citizen he clearly was [fill in derogatory adjective of your choice]

Chau was white? Dude this is some sort of Chinese or Korean-American missionary.

Otherwise, I agree with your sentiment. It was foolish mistake but those on the thread laughing at him or saying that Christianity is not a pillar of the West are the same kind of Black Pillers who say the West cannot be saved and that Game is too hard in [insert current year]. These are not the people who can help us turn this boat around (no pun intended).

I'm pretty sure that Chau=Chow.

Things might have turned out differently if this Mr Chow had gone there to preach the Gospel...
