Do you celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving?

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving because I am not American but I think it is a great celebration because it has two important things:

1) Expressing gratitude - one of the main reason we have a cultural crisis today is because people are so entitled and never pause to appreciate what they have. This is despite modern western people having more luxuries and and prosperity then any other group of people ever.

2) Reuniting with family - always worth it. Family is most important thing in life after health, something too few people understand too.

In my family, and probably many families in EE we usually do similar things in Christmas and New Years Eves - family gathers in at least one of those days and everyone says what he is grateful about the past year. I think it should be great to have an extra day for that trough.

I hear many young liberal people today scold Thanksgiving - well their front reasons for it being a celebration of genocide is bullshit. The real reason they dislike this celebration is because they are cold hardhearted entailed bitchy whiny ingrates who hate their family. Often also bastards.

Most years my richest relatives (mum's sister, her huge-time lawyer husband, and two of my cousins) have hosted a traditional dinner with a pretty nice setup and array of dishes. Managed to get through this year's with my uncle (yes, I have one of "them") getting too political at dinner, though I agree with most of his right-leaning views (illegals/border security, acronymfags [but I repeat myself], etc.) They travel a lot (his family is almost entirely down in Florida), so we all just shared travel-nightmare stories and he talked his latest cases. All around, a great time.

Sounds like I'd mostly agree with your right-wing uncle too, while at the same time wishing he'd save it for another day.
