New Orleans Data Sheet

I touch down tomorrow. I've been hitting up Tinder and have been pleasantly surprised by the number of matches. I haven't shared, however, that I'm just in town for three nights though.

They don't need to know that your in town for a few nights. Have you been to the city before? Looking to do anything while your here?

So, I'm back from NOLA. Three nights = one bang plus a couple of make-outs, all from bars on Bourbon Street. A few observations:

* This is convention town central during the week. If the conventions are favorable, then so are your odds. If not...well, there was a military related convention while I was there and competition was intense. I know that some guys like to hit Vegas during the nurses or hairdressers' conventions. That would be an intriguing possibility here. Like Vegas, people also make midweek trips to party as well, and those were the girls that I met.

* Bourbon Street is a shitshow, but it can be good in that you know exactly what you're going to get. There were no locals there, so "where are you from" is a perfectly acceptable and easy line to open. There are a million bars in close proximity and if you don't like the scene or strike out in one, just move onto the next. Incredibly, you can take drinks from one bar into another with very few exceptions. I gave out beads liberally, which was another easy icebreaker.

* The girls on Tinder are exceptionally friendly and looking to meet people to date. At least the locals do, and that was 100% of with whom I matched. I was surprised that I was matching girls 10-12 years younger than my stated age. Quality was very mixed and it helps if you like tattoos and piercings. Frankly, my tinder game is weak and I was happier trying to SNL off of Bourbon Street than to organize a real date, but that was also in part because I was working during most of the day.

* The French Quarter outside of Bourbon Street was beautiful and the food and live music scene were good. Not just jazz either - there are tons of bars with cover bands and the like covering almost every genre of music. Accommodation was okay and I definitely recommend staying in the French Quarter. The casino is small and the Garden District is for sightseeing only.

In some respects, NOLA felt like a redneck Vegas (that sounds harsher than I mean) and in others like a European party town. I had a good time and considering that I was working during most of my time there, I was pretty pleased with my outcomes.

Was the fact that you were a visitor rather than a resident a significant issue when it came to Tinder?

Glad you had fun, and this definitely hit the nail on the head, I lol'd.

Did you meet up with any girls off tinder?

Maybe IAmAlpha504 can chime in, but the one thing that NOLA lacks is giant mega NIGHTclubs. Nobody wants to wait in line and go to a huge club with overpriced drinks when there are millions of bars next door. There's Republic and Eiffel? Guys that are used to nightclubs may have to adjust more for bar settings because of this.

Hard to answer, but recognize that compared to other convention cities there are infinitely more horny single guys coming and visiting New Orleans. Girls on tinder are getting blown up by thirsty texts from guys on bachelor parties, only visiting for a night, etc. Because of this your pictures should be top notch and game should be tight like a virgin.

I'm glad Tinder added the school/work/hometown to people's profile, if you see a far away university on their profile it means they're visiting so you should run meetup ASAP game. If you see Tulane/Loyola/UNO/Xavier/Del-ghetto, then you know they're local and shouldn't rush anything.

A few times I've talked to girls on Tinder and they drop "oh where are you from how long are you visiting" and I'm like "no I live here haha" because they're so used to visitiors coming through and swiping to the max.

Speaking of...just yesterday I had a few matches from pipeline I was talking with, I decided to "be honest" for once [Image: tard.gif] The girl was tall, had Trump in her bio, just my type. I told this girl I don't actually live in NOLA anymore...and she instantly unmatched me. Remember you're in the south! There will be traditional girls sprinkled in the alcoholics.

That's correct, there are no mega clubs in the city. Generally speaking, they just can't survive week to week. When there are things going on in the city they could make a killing problem is when it gets slow. I already know people who won't pay to get in clubs. Thanks to burbon, people esp out of towners, will always think why pay $20-$40 bucks to get in a club when we can go on burbon for free and hit up several.

Personally I'm glad that there aren't mega clubs in the city. There is something about the uptight posturing typical of club scenes that is very much the opposite of the "no fucks given" attitude that makes NOLA great.

And the truth is that you can find mega clubs in all sorts of cities all over the world, but not many places have the grimy, dilapidated, but still somehow charming and delightful bars that you can find in NOLA.

@Enfuego: Glad you had a good trip!

I was visiting on business so was unavailable to go out on a date at conventional times. However, most of the girls on Tinder were locals looking for something real. Staying at a hotel and going out in the evenings to work functions made me quickly realize that Tinder wouldn't be productive. However, the girls partying on Bourbon St are there to have fun. More competition, but more selection as well.

Can't really find a more recent thread on New Orleans in general so I want to ask here if anybody has any updated tips on New Orleans? Heading out there in a couple of weeks. Have an airbnb within blocks of Bourbon Street so that'll be a target area, but any specific game advice for the city or hidden spots would be appreciated. Traveling with a group of guy friends if that makes a difference.

As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a player.

Any suggestions on rental apartments in the downtown area? Moving to New Orleans in mid-2019.

I’ll be working near the Mercedes-Benz superdome and Poydras Street. I’m not crazy about the French Quarter, but I am trying to live walking distance from bars and a grocery store.
