Selling 3D Printers

I'm just using this forum to get some marketing ideas. I work for a company that sells 3D printers as well as offers a scanning service. Any ideas on how I can more successfully market this?

Right now, 3D printers are best for making prototypes. You can make small objects with them, but they are built in layers, unless you have access to some of that ZCorp "scree" technology. Same basic idea, however. I still think they have a good future in duplicating small parts you can't get.
But the real game changer is going to be cheap SLS machines. These can print metal and that will make all the difference.

It's a new and fast moving industry, where the price of the printers means that few individual consumers are buying them. It's mostly institutions, and also copy companies who intend to put them in their store to be used like a regular printer. The worry for a buyer would be that the very expensive printer they just bought goes out of date before he can make a profit from it.

So the suggestion:
Put your money where your mouth is and lease them out on a one year lease. Would give buyers, or in this case lessee's more confidence that they will not get screwed by the introduction of much better models 6 months after purchase.

you can have 3D printer as low as $1000. that's not expensive AT ALL.

think about cool things modern hipster have these days. macbook, ipad, iphone, beats by dr dre, gopro etc. combine few of those.
how much does it cost in total?

you should market about how they can create cool things that's one of a kind (like phone case)
Obviously they are not going to make a ton to make the purchase worthwhile but who cares? do people maximize the performance of their latest macbook? no they fuckin use it for internet and word. as long as it's cool, that's fine.

Think about bringing a girl, design a phone case and make one for her right on the spot. Sounds cool right? Those kind of things will trigger people's Emotion.

You can also market it to people who makes small quantity and sell it on the etsy as a hobby.

Add a cool factor and create a culture. then they will sell a lot.

If I had a company, I would focus on people's Wants than Needs

Selling 3D Printers

I wanted to get into 3D printing, Since I am a newbie I purchased the Monoprice Mini 3D printer V2. It came with Cura 15.04 software, After installation, I upgraded to their new version 3.4.1. I am running Windows 10 enterprise Hp Photosmart Printers. and the printer never really connects to the computer via the USB. I sent the printer back to Monoprice and they claimed that the motherboard needed to be repaired. It still did not work. I then contacted Amazon and they replaced the printer. It still does not work.
