World Series 2018

The Boys of October are swinging for the fences and you could not have written a believable Script for tonight's Game between the Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros.

Houston's reliever loaded up the bases in the top of the 8th and Boston's best slugger "Mookie ain't kookie cuz he's the Betts" then hit a line drive that should have driven in a couple more runs only to have Houston Astros golden glove outfielder Reddick make a spectacular diving catch for the third out with 3 Red Sox players left on base...

Then Alex Cora with Houston world champion Astros last year now in his first season as Manager with the Boston Red Sox brings in Boston's often erratic closer Kimbrel in the bottom of the 8th to give up a run but retire the side with no more damage and then in the top of the 9th Houston's closer retires the side and Kimbrel the wild man comes in to close only to load up all the bases with two outs and faces the Astros best hitter Bregman who hits a line drive that Boston's left fielder makes a spectacular diving catch sliding on his chest for several feet holding onto the ball and wins the game for the Red Sox for a best of seven ALCS series lead of 3 to 1 in Houston on the Astros home turf... Epic nail-biter all around.

And these MLB guys would not think to protest the National Anthem that ends at the start of every game with the famous baseball words - Play Ball!

HOUSTON -- Left fielder Andrew Benintendi made a diving catch with the bases loaded for the final out, and the Boston Red Sox held off the Houston Astros 8-6 Wednesday night to take a 3-1 lead in the AL Championship Series.

Boosted by a questionable fan interference call and another home run from Jackie Bradley Jr. in a gripping, back-and-forth game, the Red Sox moved within one victory of their first World Series trip since winning the 2013 title.

Another game in Houston tomorrow and if needed 2 more in Boston's legendary Fenway Park - Boston only needs to win one more to finish their Cinderella Season to go on to the World Series against the NLCS winner either the LA Dodgers or Milwaukee Brewers.

Anyone else following the ALCS, NLCS and interested in who will win the world series?

The Boston Red Sox are a win away from returning to the World Series for the first time since 2013 when they won it all. Boston will get three shots at it, with the first coming tonight in Houston. They lead the ALCS 3-1 and are -800 favorites to win the series, while they are also a -105 favorite to win the World Series.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are also a win away from returning to the World Series for the second consecutive year. The Dodgers lead Milwaukee 3-2 in the NLCS with the series shifting back to Wisconsin for Game 6 on Friday.

What can you say but that the Houston Astros a really really good team were soundly beat three games in a row on the 2017 Champion Astros home turf tonight by a really really really Great Team the Legendary Boston Red Sox... and on the new Manager Alex Cora's 43rd birthday to boot. They punched their tickets to ride to the big show the 2018 World Series - These are the Good Old Days in Boston. Tomorrow we might find out who they will play the Dodgers or the Brewers.

Damn - must be the cold weather is our friend - the Great LA Dodgers are down two games to zero against the Really Great Boston Red Sox - next three games in LA - would like to see Boston run it in 4 straight but winning it back in Boston would not be too bad either. With 5 more games to go odds are Boston gets two more of them - lucky they are not in Boston this weekend - our first windy and rainy "Nor'easter" hits on Saturday (no snow this time).

Any other baseball fans in RVF land?

I think Walker Buehler is the only dodger's starter capable of getting a win. American league is much tougher to pitch in, just because the dodger's staff had low ERA's in the national league, doesn't mean that would translate to facing a lineup with a designated hitter. Dave Roberts has made dogshit pitching changes too. I hope dodger's can win two games just so the series is entertaining. If they fall down 0-3 that's the end of any excitement and interest.

Amazing... Boston Legendary Red Sox now ahead of the Great LA Dodgers 3 to 1 after a record-setting World Series 18 inning game 3 loss.

The Red Sox's pitching plan was ripped to pieces by the mind-bending, time-shredding exercise that was the 18-inning Game 3 of this World Series. But their relentlessness remained very much intact.

Scoring all nine of their runs from the seventh inning on, with four RBIs from Steve Pearce, the short-on-sleep-but-long-on-life Sox deflated and defeated the Dodgers, 9-6, in Game 4 on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium, and they are back in a commanding and mathematically momentous position in this best-of-seven set.

Just when it looked like the Red Sox were falling out of Game 4 of the World Series, pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland and first baseman Steve Pearce got them back into it.

Pearce hit a solo shot off Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen with one out in the eighth inning to tie the game at 4-4 after Moreland hit a three-run shot an inning earlier. Rafael Devers then put the Red Sox ahead in the ninth with a one-out RBI single off Dylan Floro, scoring Brock Holt, who had doubled, from second.

Why pull your starter when hes pitched 2 hit ball through 6 1/3 and a 4 run lead? Especially a day after your bullpen pitched 11 innings. Id of left him out at least to 8th unless the wheels started to fall off

Neither a Sox or Dodgers fan but that was a colossal blunder

World Series 2018

Within minutes of the Boston Red Sox winning the 2018 World Series on Sunday with a 5-1 victory in Game 5 over the Los Angeles Dodgers, Sox fans everywhere began asking the same question: When is the Red Sox World Series parade?

While some unofficial reports about the parade date and time trickled out in the wee hours of the night, Mayor Marty Walsh and the City of Boston officially announced the date, time, and route of the 2018 duck boat procession during a press conference Monday morning. Here’s a list of everything you need to know about this year’s celebration. This guide will be updated as more information becomes available.

Turns out the more liberal than Pokeyhontas Elizzy Warren Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has at least one redeeming quality he is a lifelong Red Sox superfan and Patriots season tickets holder so warm up those Boston Dirty Water Duck Boats...

When is the parade?
The 2018 Red Sox World Series victory parade will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31 starting at 11 a.m., rain or shine.

Where is the parade?
This year’s parade route will begin at Fenway Park, then head down Lansdowne Street, take a right on Ipswich Street, and then a left on Boylston Street to Tremont Street (opposite the flow of traffic) at Boston Common. The parade then will head straight onto Cambridge Street and finish at New Sudbury Street, according to boston.gov. Check out a map of the route here.

How should I get there?
You should strongly consider alternatives to driving. Parking restrictions will make parking near the route nearly impossible, so consider either parking somewhere and walking to the parade or utilizing public transportation.

Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said at the press conference that parking bans will start going into effect starting at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, and cars will start to be towed soon after. The restrictions will last into Wednesday.

“Do not try to drive to the parade,” Walsh said at the press conference. “Take public transportation.”

According to the city’s website, on Wednesday the MBTA will offer additional service and the commuter rail will provide additional coach cars on several lines. Furthermore, the MBTA will provide extra employees at certain major stations who will assist with the purchasing of tickets, directions, and schedules.

What will the weather be like?

After a wet weekend, the weather should be clear and dry for the parade. While forecasts in New England can change at a moment’s notice, the current one calls for clear skies with a high of 60 degrees on Wednesday, with only a slight chance of showers north and west of Boston. Crucially, Tuesday’s weather also looks clear and dry, so there shouldn’t be residual puddles on the sidewalks and streets of the parade route.

Lots of temperature ups & downs this week… Only slight risk of a Halloween shower north/west of #Boston. @boston25 pic.twitter.com/RImyLEMG2V

How many people will be there?
In previous years, the parade has drawn between 500,000 and 1 million revelers. It remains to be seen whether this year’s procession will draw comparable crowds, but if you plan on attending, massive crowds will be a near certainty, whether they’re record-breaking or not.

How can I watch the parade if I’m not there?
Local news stations historically have provided live coverage of the parades, and will almost certainly do so again this year. Additionally, the MLB Network provides live coverage of the World Series victory parade on a yearly basis.

What other information do I need to know?
A few other important things to note about this year’s parade:

— Be on your best behavior. While the victory parade is certainly a celebration, Walsh emphasized that disorderly conduct is not acceptable.

“As far as safety goes, I encourage you people: Don’t do anything on the streets of Boston on Wednesday morning that you wouldn’t do in your own house,” Walsh said. “Be respectful of the city, be respectful of the property, be respectful of the people, be respectful of the businesses, be respectful of the Red Sox. When you come into town, just come in to enjoy the parade.”
