As useful and appropriate as the NPC meme might be at this time, I can't help but wonder if being an NPC is the natural state of humanity.

I think it is. The reason is due to "received wisdom" aka dogma.

I don't think it's necessary to knee-jerk abandon received wisdom for the sake of being an iconoclast, but you should at least reach a point of maturity to allow it to be challenged by yourself or others. Most people do that around adolescence but they should do that throughout their life.

The problem with NPC-ism in adulthood is it's a form of ignorance. It's about closing yourself off to dissenting voices and only staying in the safe-space/echo-chamber. It's at that point where you're no longer learning.

The glorious Alt-Right Jewish guy Frame Games did a stream on the NPC meme and the now massive banning. It only lasted for a mere 3 days before triggering fast responses.

It's frankly the most fitting and most powerful meme ever since it attacks the very awareness of their programming and does not focus on a race, religion or even specific ideology. It's just mainstream mental programming at it's finest by people who think that they are the rebels.

As Frames put it - they cannot win in the marketplace of ideas, so they have to shut it down. And the left/SJWs cannot ever deal with the other side's arguments, because then they would lose as well.

And as for the dehumanizing part - they are doing the dehumanizing as racist, White Supremacists (black and Mexican Proud Boys also are now White Supremacists), homophobe etc - the NPC dehumanizes anyone who is not a NPC.

What Is the ‘NPC’ Meme? Liberals Rage at Cartoons Mocking Their Scripted Thoughts" by Robert Kraychik

The new “NPC” meme mocks leftists by depicting them as unthinking and reflexive automatons. The meme has upset the left so much that Twitter is now banning people posting it for “dehumanizing speech,” but its humble origins are the computer-controlled characters of limited intelligence found in most video games.

The popular NPC meme trend frames its targets as non-player characters (NPCs) who reflexively spout neo-Marxist axioms in response to real-world events. Actual NPCs are computer-controlled characters in video games with limited scripted responses given the parameters of the games in which they appear. For example, NPCs may assign quests to the player in games like Skyrim, or join the player as a companion in Fallout.

Built on the long-running Wojak meme, the NPC meme mocks leftists as expressionless in appearance and bot-like in behavior. The universal standard appearance illustrates the left’s political homogeneity.

The trending NPC memes can be seen on several Facebook pages, and are spreading quickly on Twitter, Reddit, and 4Chan as well. Below is a selection showing the versatility and creativity of the right’s meme creators

News media outlets such as CNN and MSNBC are targeted by the NPC meme:

Left-wing gaming blog Kotaku addressed the aforementioned memes with an article entitled, “How The ‘NPC’ Meme Tries To Dehumanize ‘SJWs’.” It described the memes’ sentiment as “anti-progressive” and “dehumanizing” while heralding leftists as opponents of “racial injustice.”

Kotaku’s Cecilia D’Anastasio characterized the NPC memes’ spread as “a little scary”:

NPCs have no agency; NPCs don’t think for themselves; NPCs don’t perceive, process, or understand; NPCs arrive at the same worldview not because it’s authentic to their experiences, but automatically. As a descriptor, it suggests that those to whom it applies aren’t even human, but are rather, functionally, robots, or clusters of computer code. That this has resonated as widely as it has is funny, but also a little scary.

Twitter has banned dozens of users sharing and retweeting the NPC memes. One such banned user told Breitbart News: “I followed many NPC accounts (some followed me back). I retweeted some of them. I also answered someone’s (one of my followers) question about what the NPC meme is. Some people didn’t understand it right away. I can’t remember if I posted anything else that would be it. I’m pretty certain it was only because I followed and retweeted NPCs and probably ended up on a list or was mass reported by angry leftists who can’t handle what they see in the mirror.”

Despite the left’s insistence that the NPC meme is “dehumanizing,” there seems to be no similar outcry from the same people when conservatives on social media are dismissed as “Russian bots” by opponents.

Edit.

NPCs are easy to spot: They don't walk on escalators. A minute ago they were still trying to reach a destination. But then they stepped on an escalator and forgot all about that.

Just learned about this new meme NPC that got banned from Twitter. I think that's the best leftist meme that was ever invented and will probably do a lot of damage once censor-less alternatives to Twitter and the like are built (read : decentralized social medias). (((Their))) only power left is censorship.

Among things that make you go hmmmm.

NPCs are controlled by the game masters, programmers and designers.

Back in the early 90s I was part or a board game company. We went to GENCON, had or own booth, and generally hung around other designers, writers, artists and managers. In the game industry the sterotype or the players (and therefore those who are PCs) is largely true. However, that stereotype doesn't apply to most people working in the industry. Retail workers (even owners) a well as many or the writers come across just like the players. On the other hand, the managers, and entrepreneurs are not.

In a game of, say, Dungeons & Dragons, all of the NPCs are controlled by the Dungeon Master and the PCs , while having free will, operate within the reality of the Dungeon Master. In turn, the Dungeon Master's reality is created by the designers, writers editors and publishers.

For a computer game, the computer takes over the role of the Dungeon Master but the takeaway is still the same: as a PC, you are still playing someone else's game.

That reminds me of the Kohlberg Morality Scale, which was previously posted on another thread.

According to that table, no more than 15% of the adult population ever moves beyond NPC morality.

I would add that if you can critically analyze traditional wisdom, you can eventually learn why it was passed down, rather than simply following it as dogma. But I suspect that even the most traditional, conservative people would be leery of someone who actually decides to critically analyze traditional wisdom and morality, even if the goal is to better understand and appreciate it.

The left is shutting this down, it must be effective.

As for the why behind NPC, I think it goes to the effectivness of propoganda in our modern culture and the failure of critical thinking. The meme was created on 4chan, which is an alternative outlet, and made popular on redpill and other alternative outlets. People who subscribe to the mainstream are drinking propoganda from a firehose.

This is the stuff that needs to go viral. Attention whoring NPCs on Tinder, Instagram etc. Show them that they're nothing special and are all saying the same shit, doing the same shit and taking the same photos.

Maybe someone can create something like a snowflake shaped NPC head for that.
