Well the original meme had the Democrats as a very apish skull.
But it worked better for NPC purposes using the human skull & it was a lot easier to simply copy & paste the existing human skull & grey it out for NPC purposes.
Rather than getting each & every skull anatomically correct.

My 'shoppin skills aren't -that- great...

First thing that came to my mind when this started to spread was a Beck concert t-shirt that I bought back in 1999.

The front of the shirt shows a guy on the ground with a word caption that just shows his EKG read out.



But what I really loved was the back of the shirt:

And again, it's small so if you can't read it the text reads "WE ARE INDIVIDUALS." and "I THINK WHAT YOU THINK."

No idea who the artist was, but he nailed the NPC theme almost 20 years ago.
